Chapter 489 - Chapter 489: Capture, Divine Technique, Escape Method

Zhao Xing and Wei Tianchen were preparing to ambush Fu Mengzhen, unaware that she had already discovered their presence.

Fu Mengzhen possessed a divine artifact for mechanical detection. While her enemies remained oblivious, she too began setting up her own arrangements, aiming to land a fatal blow the moment they left the island.

As for going down there herself? Absolutely not. Why fight head-on when you can attack from the shadows? She wasn't some brute-force martial artist, after all.

"This isn't right… why is she slowing down?" Zhao Xing kept a close eye on the Eight Directions Divine Mirror that Wei Tianchen had set up.

He noticed Fu Mengzhen's bone ship gradually decelerating. Once it reached the sky above the outer perimeter of Five Fortune Island, it activated some form of invisibility. The vessel blended perfectly into the surrounding clouds and began circling the island.

"Maybe she sensed the abnormal Fortune here and is acting cautiously," Wei Tianchen said, glancing at the divine mirror.

Fu Mengzhen had activated a mechanical barrier-type concealment technique. However, the divine artifact Wei Tianchen used was a fate master's tool. The two weren't even in the same category—so Fu Mengzhen's stealth was effectively useless here.

At the same time, Fu Mengzhen had already pinpointed the two men's exact positions on the island. Her mechanical divine artifact performed with incredible precision. The Eight Directions Divine Mirror couldn't block her either. Both of them were in full view, though she couldn't quite tell what they were busy doing.

It looked like they were searching for something—or maybe setting up spells for a future search.

Both sides believed they were hidden from the other, when in reality, they were completely exposed.

"Something's off."

After finishing the Earth Palace array, Zhao Xing noticed that Fu Mengzhen was still circling and hadn't left. His gut told him—this wasn't just off, it was really off.

"Old physician, I'm afraid we've been discovered."

"No way. The Eight Directions Divine Mirror comes with anti-detection capabilities—it blocks cause-and-effect pathways and destiny divinations—"

"But it's a fate master's divine artifact, right?" Zhao Xing tapped the mirror. "What if the enemy has a divine artifact too, but of a completely different category?"

"If she's using a mechanical divine artifact infused with the Dao of Life, then no living being on this island could escape her eyes. Your divine mirror wouldn't stand a chance against that."

Wei Tianchen's gaze turned sharp.

"If you'd pulled out your Fate Wheel from the start, maybe we could've stayed hidden. But now it's too late."

If Zhao Xing still had eyeballs, Wei Tianchen was sure he'd be giving him a sideways glare of pure disdain.

And he'd be right. Zhao Xing really was thinking that.

Wei Tianchen had so many divine artifacts—he was a textbook nouveau riche—but his battle instincts were seriously lacking.

Then again, maybe it wasn't his fault. Divine artifacts could solve ninety-nine percent of problems. Wei Tianchen's way of handling things usually boiled down to "pay a divine artifact to hire a killer" or "throw a pile of divine artifacts at the problem." No wonder he hadn't developed any real combat intuition.

"What do we do now?" Wei Tianchen asked humbly.

He figured it was best to listen to Emperor Tianning at this point. After all, being broke built experience.

"She probably doesn't realize we've spotted her," Zhao Xing said. "Let's just pretend we don't know and keep doing what we were doing."

What were they doing before? Treasure hunting. So now? Keep treasure hunting.

"I'll head out for a bit."

Zhao Xing thought it over, then flew out of the cave.

He pretended to search the area, wandering around the island aimlessly.

In truth, he was looking for a chance to catch a glimpse of Fu Mengzhen. If he could get a look, he could use his panel to gauge her strength and see what skills she had.

Zhao Xing was now at the Eight Tribulation Emperor level. Under his panel's detection, even Wei Tianchen couldn't hide a thing. As for whether the panel could assess someone at the divine realm? That was still uncertain.

If the panel failed to analyze her, that would also confirm she was dangerously powerful—in which case, they should run immediately.

Zhao Xing wandered the island for over half a month without getting a single chance. The enemy was extremely cautious and refused to come close at all.

"Caution means her strength isn't boundless. She's probably not at the divine realm." That was Zhao Xing's conclusion.

But in truth, Fu Mengzhen hadn't even registered Zhao Xing as a threat. Her full attention was on Wei Tianchen.

Only Wei Tianchen gave her a sense of danger. Zhao Xing? Just an ant. Why bother watching him?

She didn't spot anything—but Zhao Xing made a new discovery in the third month.

While deploying the Earth Repository and Earth Palace techniques on the island, he also searched a wide range of the underground space.

In the ice pool beneath the southern part of Five Fortune Island, thirty thousand meters underground, he found a massive wooden door over a thousand meters in both height and width!

"This wooden door looks totally ordinary. Just regular-grade 'Yin Sandalwood.' There's plenty of this stuff all over the Fu Bone Territory. Nothing special about it at all."

"But… why does it feel so unusual?"

Zhao Xing approached, puzzled.

Once he got close, he noticed a lock at the center of the door. It was a bone lock—completely ordinary.

Except… engraved on it was a line of characters.

The moment Zhao Xing saw the characters, everything clicked.

"The door and the lock really are made from common materials. What makes them special are these characters."

"These are divine characters!"

After thirty-three years in Bone Support City, Zhao Xing had studied plenty of information and scripts from the Bone Yin Realm while cultivating.

He immediately recognized that the writing on the door and lock came from the Fire Origin Script—passed down from the Fire Origin Temple.

"Fortune God Xuerui, who became a Free God in just eight thousand years of cultivation."

"Entered the Bone Yin Realm and, in eight years, went against the heavens. His Dao of Bones unraveled, his Dao vanished, and he died a tragic death. Only his palm bone remained, sealed beneath Five Fortune Mountain."

"Those favored by Fortune shall see his bone."

The inscription on the lock seemed like it had been left behind by the Fire Origin Temple.

After translating the characters, Zhao Xing couldn't help but be surprised.

"Became a god in eight thousand years? That's some insane Fortune."

"And yet… he died here after just eight?"

To reach the divine realm in eight thousand years, Xuerui was clearly someone favored by Fortune—someone who could find divine artifacts just by stepping outside.

But after arriving in the White Bone Divine Domain, he was dead by year eight.

"Went against the heavens, Dao of Bones unraveled, Dao vanished, died tragically… sounds like he did something seriously reckless and got himself killed."

Zhao Xing had heard many legendary tales about the Dao of Fortune.

For example, Emperor Hongshan once told him that during the Five Emperors Era, there was a sage on the Primordial Hill who was deeply favored by the land itself. He hardly had to put in any effort to cultivate and never experienced a single tribulation—yet he reached the demigod level.

True Spirit Tribulations arose from defying the universe's Dao. But someone with immense Fortune would be favored by the universe, and thus encounter no tribulations at all.

But that ancient sage had it too easy. Nothing was ever difficult for him, and wherever he went, good people and fortune followed...

One day, that ancient sage grew tired of his dull and tedious life and took it upon himself to venture into the Black Heaven Barren Domain, intending to study the legendary Minggu Mountain.

In the first few hundred years after entering the Black Heaven Barren Domain, everything continued going smoothly for him. He even stumbled upon two divine artifacts, which he sent back to the Primordial Hill.

And the method he used to send them was absurd—he just sent them with a paper crane. No one tried to steal it along the way, nor did it suffer any disturbance from the chaotic void currents of the barren domain. His luck was outrageously good.

But after a thousand years, all news of him vanished.

Later, divine-level experts from Primordial Hill confirmed that the sage had died—completely, beyond resurrection.

"No matter how great your fortune is, it can't withstand your own death wish," Emperor Hongshan had said at the time. "It's said he entered the Black Heaven Barren Domain without bringing anything along and made no preparations whatsoever. He kept going deeper and deeper. In the end, it's speculated he died in some forbidden place within that barren domain."

Zhao Xing figured Xuerui might just be another such case.

Testing the limits of divine fortune over and over again, taking it to the extreme, he eventually found that limit—and died for it.

"Favored by the heavens, yet walked the path against heaven, and thus his Dao unraveled and his bones crumbled—he died an unnatural death. Originally blessed, but insisted on ruining it himself. That's what it probably means, huh?" Zhao Xing muttered as he turned to look at the door's lock again.

"He who is blessed by fortune shall see his bones."

Zhao Xing stepped forward and gave the door a push.

It didn't budge. The divine-level characters engraved by a god were effectively a seal, functioning like a coded lock formed by divine decree.

Even a simple wooden door, influenced by the divine imprint, was now as impenetrable as a divine artifact. Forcibly breaking through was impossible.

Zhao Xing thought for a moment and then tapped it a few times using the purple index finger bone installed on his hand.

Click, click, click…

After a few casual presses, it actually opened!

"So that's what it meant?"

He who is blessed by fortune shall see his bones.

Without fortune, you wouldn't even find the place, let alone open the door?

Once the divine protection lifted, the door—being made of ordinary material—couldn't withstand the natural tremors three thousand meters underground. It instantly crumbled into dust.

Then Zhao Xing saw another bone—also purple, an unnamed ring finger bone.

He grabbed it, removed his own ring finger bone, and installed this one.

Whirr~

Fortune surged through his whole body. Zhao Xing glanced at his panel.

His Fortune level rose from Derivation Twenty-One to Derivation Twenty-Three.

An increase of two levels.

Though it was just two levels, it was still a post-Twenty upgrade. The boost was real.

"That easy?" Zhao Xing could hardly believe it.

He even had the wild thought—why bother with painstaking cultivation? He should just tour secret realms every day and hunt for opportunities.

"No, I can't think like that," Zhao Xing's eyes gleamed sharply.

"Fortune comes from heaven's favor, but I am a Shennong—one who fights the heavens, contends with the earth, and finds joy in the struggle."

"Relying on fortune is a deviation of the Dao!"

Zhao Xing corrected his mindset using the Grand Dream Marsh. Only then did he gain full control over the two finger bones. Otherwise, he would've become a slave to the Divine Fortune Bones.

He stood there for a while longer, confirming that his state of mind had stabilized before flying back up.

The island remained as calm and peaceful as before, with gentle winds and drifting clouds.

Wei Tianchen and Fu Mengzhen were still locked in a battle of patience, each waiting for the other to make the first move and fall into their trap.

"You were down there a while. Find anything?" Wei Tianchen sent a voice transmission.

"Yeah, found another Divine Fortune Bone," Zhao Xing replied.

"Oh?" Wei Tianchen raised a brow. "How'd you find it?"

"Stumbled across it while laying the Earth Treasury Law underground," Zhao Xing summarized in a couple of sentences. "That's it."

"Serves 'em right. The Dao of Fortune is a plague," Wei Tianchen muttered with disgust.

"Zhao Xing, don't let it corrupt you. Otherwise, it won't be you using the Divine Fortune Bones—they'll be using you."

"I know," Zhao Xing nodded. "That demigod musician still spying?"

"She is. She's basically surrounded all five islands," Wei Tianchen said. "But I'm confident I can break her setup."

Zhao Xing: "Oh? How?"

Wei Tianchen: "In the face of absolute wealth, all demigods are just floating clouds. I've looked it over. I've got at least five divine artifacts that can deal with it."

Zhao Xing's soul body suddenly felt a bit uncomfortable.

Damn rich bastards… why do they always sound so smug?

After a brief exchange, Zhao Xing resumed his search.

From the clues, it seemed Xuerui's remaining palm bone had been deliberately sealed beneath the Wuyun Mountain along the Nine Yin River.

If that's the case, then the other four islands should still hold the rest of the pieces.

Zhao Xing moved to another island and continued his aimless searching.

On the third month after arriving on the island, he found the Divine Fortune Bone's middle finger.

On the fourth month, he found the thumb.

On the fourth and a half month, he found the pinky.

Three days later, he found the palm bone. It should've been attached to the index finger, but for some reason—perhaps due to the turbulence of the Nine Yin River—it had been detached.

The palm bone's index finger had fallen off and ended up getting picked up by Wei Tianchen, that demigod with nearly Derivation Thirty fortune.

Wei Tianchen had no interest in these things. In fact, he loathed them.

Now, everything fell into Zhao Xing's hands.

Click click click~

The moment he assembled all five fingers and the palm, Zhao Xing's Fortune level, originally at Derivation Sixteen, skyrocketed to Derivation Thirty!

"Derivation Thirty Fortune? Good grief… I've finally made it big," Zhao Xing thought.

In his past life, he'd only ever seen this kind of fortune level on someone else. He never had it himself.

Assembling the Divine Fortune Bones didn't just grant a massive boost in Fortune.

It also unlocked a Divine Fortune Technique—Reverse Fortune Divine Palm.

This was a technique that Xuerui had casually created through some idle pondering.

Just slap at a target from a distance, and you could scatter their fortune temporarily.

The exact result depended on how strong the opponent's fortune was—and how resistant they were to being slapped.

Based on the info left within the Divine Bones, anyone with Fortune at Derivation Thirty or lower would lose 60% to 80% of their fortune temporarily under its effect.

Which meant even someone like Gu Luohe, who had Derivation Thirty fortune—if Zhao Xing gave him a casual slap from afar, the most extreme outcome would be reducing him down to Derivation Six fortune temporarily.

When your fortune doesn't match your strength, disaster is bound to follow. This Divine Technique essentially messed with the opponent's "cosmic position."

How bad could the consequences get?

Well, back in the Medicine King Realm, the Seventh Prince of Tianyou Kingdom—Liang Rui—had his fortune dropped to Derivation Two after being targeted by two Fate Officers…

He instantly suffered a backlash, with his meridians thrown into chaos and nearly lost control of his cultivation. If it hadn't been for Zhao Xing and Ji Si stepping in, he would've died right there in the Medicine King Realm.

"No doubt about it, this is definitely a divine technique." Zhao Xing grinned, fiddling excitedly with his hand.

The most crucial part was that this Divine Fortune Bone had no cost to activate. It relied entirely on Xuerui's original fortune power sealed in the bone.

This meant it didn't need fortune energy to fuel it—Zhao Xing could use it freely.

"Unlimited-use divine skill!" Zhao Xing grew increasingly hyped. Against gods, maybe it wouldn't work. But below god level, as long as the target wasn't fast enough to vanish from sight or launch a surprise ambush, this wide-area technique could hit almost anyone.

"Right now, I feel like this whole damn world is mine!"

Zhao Xing's confidence surged. He instinctively waved upward with the divine bone hand.

A massive surge of fortune energy shot into the sky.

And just like that, the divine bone's energy happened to disturb Fu Mengzhen, who was flying overhead.

She was forced into visibility, appearing right within Zhao Xing's view.

[Name: Fu Mengzhen]

[Class: Dancer, Musician]

[Realm: Thirteen-Tribulation True Spirit]

[Bone Type: Heavy Tax Dao Bone (452/10000)]

[White Bone Power: Level Thirteen (985/1000)]

[Secret Techniques: Four-String Fracture, Rolling Pines, Soul-Snatching Thunder Tune, Curse of the Foe, Flame-Stepping Sky Dance, Shadow Dance Mirage, Soaring Swan Cloud Waltz, Puppet Doom]

[Fortune: Derivation Twenty-One]

Fu Mengzhen was a dual-path demigod of dance and music. Her lower body had already regrown flesh, likely linked to her cultivation method.

The Heavy Tax Dao Bone was something Zhao Xing had never even heard of. She reached Level Thirteen White Bone Power because this bone type belonged to a rarer and higher class.

Someone like Bamboo Sword Venerable didn't have a special bone. Even with Thirteen-Tribulation True Spirit, his White Bone Power was still only Level Twelve.

This drastic fortune fluctuation even triggered a celestial phenomenon.

Although the phenomenon happened to expose her, Fu Mengzhen didn't overthink it.

Such events were normal when powerful treasures emerged.

And she was going to make her move anyway.

"I was planning to wait a bit longer. But since they've already found the treasure, there's no need to stall."

Fu Mengzhen immediately piloted the bone-beast ship into the sky above Wuyun Island.

"What kind of 'Twin Sage of Dance and Music' is she? She's got the same fortune level I had."

"Take this!"

Zhao Xing raised the divine bone palm and swung it toward the now-visible Fu Mengzhen.

She noticed this little ant's gesture, of course.

But nothing happened.

Even the celestial signs vanished.

"Ahahahaha~"

"You're just a measly Eighth-Tribulation Emperor. Even with a divine bone, you still can't bring out its power."

"Hand it over to me, and I'll let you board my flower ship and taste paradise—"

As she spoke, Fu Mengzhen immediately cast her Soul Illusion Domain through sound.

The spell was subtle—her voice alone was enough to take effect. Anyone who heard it would be caught.

As a Twin Sage of dance and music, her strength was no joke. It happened too fast—Wei Tianchen was still on a different island when it began.

The moment he noticed, he threw his Bixue Golden Divine Gourd toward her.

But to the surprise of both Wei Tianchen and Fu Mengzhen—

Nothing happened.

Zhao Xing stood in place, completely unaffected by the Soul Illusion Domain.

Because the moment the spell reached Zhao Xing, its operation seemed to glitch. It failed entirely.

All that was left was a cacophony of ghostly shrieks and howling.

"What the hell?" Fu Mengzhen was stunned.

Clap, clap, clap—

Zhao Xing clapped slowly.

"Nice move, that Soul Illusion Domain. Impressive, really."

"But it's not nearly enough to get me on your haunted ship."

Fu Mengzhen immediately sensed something was off. Just then, she saw Wei Tianchen's Bixue Golden Divine Gourd drifting over from the eastern island. She tossed out a string net and turned her ship to retreat.

At that moment, Fu Mengzhen's fortune had plummeted.

From Derivation Twenty-One down to Derivation Five!

The thousand-tone string net she threw out was launched from her ship. It was crafted from 375 top-tier artifacts, essentially 375 high-grade Reincarnation Dao weapons.

Its primary purpose was disruption. Once deployed, it would create a Music and Dance Domain in the air.

Within the domain, various dance and music puppets would appear.

Very few cultivators pursued both paths of dance and music to the demigod level—much less to the level of Twin Sage.

Because it was so rare, most opponents didn't know how to counter it the first time they encountered it.

Fu Mengzhen had used this technique many times to attack, defend, or cover a retreat. It always worked.

But today, the net's effect went haywire. After being launched, it veered off course. It was like a rushed army formation collapsing as the rear troops crashed into the front lines. The artifacts interfered with one another.

Not only did it fail, it also disrupted the acceleration of the bone ship. Half of the weapons even flew back and crashed into the ship.

Zheng!

With all these missteps, Fu Mengzhen instantly sensed a serious problem.

She pulled out a white bone zither. The zither had eight beast heads on its frame, each biting a star or a continent.

The tail end was charred black, but the instrument still radiated divine power, even with thunderous divine patterns flickering across it.

This was a divine artifact—the Scorched-Tail Zither of the Eight Desolations!

She plucked a string, and it was as if space itself shifted. The gourd's falling divine water narrowly missed, only a trickle splashing onto the ship.

Even that much shocked Fu Mengzhen. She couldn't believe she failed to dodge such a basic attack?

Something was very, very wrong!

"Ming hu~~~"

The Scorched-Tail Zither immediately began to play.

A heavy courtly melody echoed. One by one, armored warriors riding giant bone beasts appeared, forming military formations. A majestic emperor figure stood tall amidst them, inspiring awe and reverence.

Once she began playing, Fu Mengzhen appeared to be shielded by a divine emperor's army, fully protected. The sight alone could crush the will of any would-be attacker.

Wei Tianchen gasped when he saw it: "Lihuang's Summoning March? How do you know that tune!?"

Then he burst into fury: "A mere enchantress dares to defile the sacred music of the royal court? Die!"

Five more divine artifacts materialized around Wei Tianchen. The sight made Fu Mengzhen's jaw nearly drop.

Wei Tianchen's wealth was enough to shatter anyone's Dao heart.

Compared to him, Fu Mengzhen suddenly felt utterly destitute.

Under these circumstances, even her music began to falter.

The formation generals kept vanishing, and even the phantom of the Divine Emperor began to flicker.

"After she brought out the Scorched-Tail Zither of the Eight Desolations, her fortune is rapidly recovering. Three breaths later, it's already back to Derivation Twelve," Zhao Xing watched from below.

Fu Mengzhen's fortune had plummeted to Derivation Six but rebounded quickly. The reason was simple—Zhao Xing wasn't the true Fortune Sovereign.

He merely possessed a palm bone from Xuerui, the real Fortune God.

It could cause a momentary disruption and open an opportunity, but it couldn't suppress someone like her indefinitely.

"Looks like it's not all-powerful. Against someone of her level, I probably only get one shot. The moment she realized something was off, she ran. I can't catch her," Zhao Xing calmed himself.

All he could do was play a support role. If anyone was going to take Fu Mengzhen down, it had to be Wei Tianchen.

He wasn't sure if the tune Fu Mengzhen played was one Wei Tianchen knew intimately or not.

Whatever the case, Wei Tianchen had been calm up until he heard her music. Then he flew into a rage and threw out five divine artifacts at once.

With all five artifacts unleashed, Fu Mengzhen's defensive formations were instantly torn apart.

At that moment, both her hands turned pitch black.

It looked like she'd been poisoned.

And she had. From Zhao Xing's perspective, after breaking the formation, Wei Tianchen immediately cast a physician's technique.

Bone Spirit Heavenly Toxin.

In the thirty-three years he'd been restrained, he'd never been short on resources or protection. Whenever there was downtime, they'd debate Dao together.

Because of this, Zhao Xing had developed a new appreciation for the Physician's path. Bone Spirit Heavenly Toxin was a technique Wei Tianchen had created himself.

It didn't require any medium to trigger—it simply exploded from within.

According to Wei Tianchen, cultivators absorb energy from the environment. No matter how refined their method, they could never purify every last impurity.

The human body was naturally full of toxins, parasites, and dormant diseases. The only reason they didn't cause problems was that many were harmless, beneficial, or simply latent. Over countless ages, the human cultivation system had adapted to exist in balance with the world.

But that didn't mean the toxins weren't there.

Even within the White Bone Divine Domain, where people existed in skeletal form, the principle still applied.

The core theory of this spell was simple: you've always been poisoned.

Bone Spirit Heavenly Toxin detonated those toxins directly.

Tang!

The moment the spell hit, Fu Mengzhen lost control of her hands.

Static blasted through the melody. The formation of noble warriors vanished mid-charge.

"Ling Pivot Nine Needles · Refine the Spirit Marrow!"

"Bone Meridian Puppet Technique!"

Wei Tianchen struck while the iron was hot. From among his five divine artifacts, a set of Divine Demon Binding Needles shot straight into Fu Mengzhen's skeleton.

Zha zha zha zha zha!

A dull, cracking sound echoed through the ship. Fu Mengzhen was slammed back against the wall of her own bone vessel.

Her lower body, now made of living flesh, writhed like tentacles trying to remove the needles.

But the moment they touched the divine needles, smoke erupted.

"Ah—!"

Fu Mengzhen screamed. Her True Spirit Flame weakened by half.

Zhao Xing checked again—her cultivation had dropped from Thirteen-Tribulation True Spirit down to Twelve Tribulations.

"Wei Tianchen's combat style really is brutal," Zhao Xing muttered in awe.

He opened with divine artifacts to violently tear through defenses, then followed up with spells that ignored armor to deal real damage.

Honestly, even a dog could pull that off, Zhao Xing thought to himself.

Break through. Nail down. Seal.

Fu Mengzhen was left completely helpless.

Of course, she wasn't willing to accept it. Even if the opponent had more divine artifacts, she believed she could still fight back.

But from the very beginning of the fight, things had gone strangely wrong. She'd lost the initiative and never recovered.

Wei Tianchen noticed it too. Someone capable of playing the Summoning March of Emperor Li had to be a top-tier demigod musician.

Paired with a divine musician artifact, she should've posed a real threat. But somehow, he'd beaten her far too easily.

Both he and Fu Mengzhen turned to look at Zhao Xing's right hand.

But by then, the hand was back to normal—Zhao Xing's own.

The divine palm bone was detachable. After one use, once the outcome was certain, Zhao Xing had switched it out immediately.

Simple reason: Xuerui's divine palm bone had started influencing Zhao Xing's mindset. He feared that if he kept using it, he'd lose his drive.

"We'll talk about that later. Let's interrogate this old hag first," Zhao Xing waved dismissively.

Fu Mengzhen exploded in rage: "Blind fool! Can't you tell this is the body of a celestial maiden?"

Zhao Xing nodded and corrected himself: "Fine. Let's interrogate this dead old witch first."

Fu Mengzhen's teeth ground against each other. Her eye sockets locked onto Zhao Xing, as if burning his image into her soul.

But she had no time to dwell on it—Wei Tianchen began the interrogation.

Seven days later.

Wei Tianchen came out carrying his satchel. "Not bad. She resisted my Heart-Confusing Mind Elixir for seven whole days before caving. That's about a Level Seven Dao Heart."

"What kind of metric is that?" Zhao Xing asked. "Something from your era?"

"I made it up," Wei Tianchen said flatly. He sought Dao confirmation from heaven and earth—much of his knowledge was self-created.

"So how many levels could I handle?" Zhao Xing asked, curious.

Wei Tianchen hadn't tested him before.

"Fu Mengzhen used to be mouthy. Now she's just a well-behaved dog."

"Wanna give it a try?"

Zhao Xing shuddered. "Nah, I'm not that curious."

Wei Tianchen waved his hand, and three pelts appeared in front of Zhao Xing. "She gave us three crucial pieces of information."

"First, the location of the Fire Source Temple. Supposedly, it lies in a place called the 'Void Realm' in the Bone Yin World. To enter, one must first pass the Fire Source Temple's trial."

Void Realm? Zhao Xing blinked.

Could the Void Realm really have existed this early in the Xuanhuang World?

"Second, the way she regrew her flesh is also the key to escaping this place," Wei Tianchen continued. "That information is also linked to the Fire Source Temple."

"She came here—this place called Wuyun Island—because of it."

"The third—"

"Go on, why'd you stop?" Zhao Xing blinked.

Wei Tianchen suddenly pulled out the Eightfold Divine Mirror. Eight streams of qi swirled around it, slowly expanding—but no reflection appeared.

"Someone else is here?" Zhao Xing instantly became alert.

Wei Tianchen wasn't looking at the mirror. His eyes were locked on the sky over the island, dark clouds churning, wary as if facing a great enemy.

"No," he said. "A god is coming."
