Chapter 514 - Taunting—Struggling Seekers!

As Alex, Benezia, and Tereza rush into the room, they look at the scene.

In front of them stand exactly six people—four men and two women. They're wearing Marine uniforms, but Alex immediately spots an assortment of weapons mixed in with the standard kit: a katana, an axe, a staff, and knives. Their gear is all over the place, too—some of them in leather, some in sturdier-looking armour, and others wearing almost modern-looking equipment and clothing that doesn't fit the uniform at all.

"They are players..." Alex whispers, carefully examining them.

"Clearly," Benezia confirms nonchalantly.

"CP9, huh?" A man in his thirties asks dismissively. "You fucking bloodhounds can't stop giving us trouble, can you? Just a few more days, and this would have been over. Fuck you!"

I can't condone his way of talking....

Princess Jewel thinks Soulmate sounds cooler!

Thanks... Jewel.

❤️

"Stop it, Jason," one of the females replies—a woman who looks to be in her mid-twenties. "Remember the plan!"

"You are CP9... we know about your identity. We have valuable information to trade with you," she says.

Jewel! They are actually doing it... We need to act now!

"Hold on," Benezia whispers towards Alex and Jewel, not taking her eyes off them. "Little one, get into position. This is not the time yet; we can fight back with words of our own first. Alex, you are certainly talented at taunting enemies. I require your aid."

Why always me?!

"Fine, I'll back you up!" Alex says, stepping forward. Jewel climbs the wall and slips onto the ceiling, disappearing into the shadows and out of sight.

"I caution you," Benezia says from behind, her voice rising—authoritative, cutting—as she follows Alex into the room. "It appears one of them can read thoughts. It appears that they'll try to deceive you, now that their conspirators have been dispatched."

"You!" the woman yells, face twisting with anger. "You liar, who do you think you are to—"

"Benezia!" Another one of them shouts, pointing at her.

"So this means... the butcher! How dare you mess with us? Do you even know who we are?" another player screams, his voice filled with anger.

Alex shakes his head. "Sorry, not interested in average trash play—I mean peasants. How about this: surrender all your possessions, and I'll let you leave, assuming the mayor is unharmed."

"You fucking arrogant simp! Disgusting goblin bootlicker! Sellout! Get the fuck out now, or I'll destroy you and your fucking harem of dominatrixes right now!" The man who spoke first yells, practically spitting the words.

"Yeah, how about you kneel in front of me?" the other woman says—a young girl with bright pink hair, looking barely eighteen. "You'll probably like me more than that goblin."

"Sorry, I'm not interested in street trash," Alex says, shrugging, "I'll use your hair to wipe the blood off my shoes after I'm done with you, though. The cheap chemicals might be useful for cleaning."

"I will fucking kill you—disgusting, pathetic, ugly asshole!" she screams, her face growing red.

"Ugly?" Alex asks. "Now that's mean. I think you're projecting, dropout. How about you graduate high school first instead of working as the thot of that pathetic group you are in."

"As much as your ranting and insults amuse me," Lucci says in an icy, cold voice, stepping into the centre of the room, "I'll give you ten seconds to release the Mayor. I don't have time for this childish play."

Yes... No more talking. Now they have to fight. Benezia was right... words actually worked. I just had to insult them... that was kinda fun. I almost feel like playing Dota 2.

"Nine..." Lucci counts down.

Alex smiles at the other players while they grit their teeth, staring at him with pure hatred, their plans of solving the situation peacefully ruined.

"You will get hunted by the Seekers! You'd better tell them to stop now! We can still solve this peacefully," the leader says, forcing the words out like it's a deal he hates offering.

"Seekers..." Alex repeats. "Maybe you should seek a way out of this situation instead of asking me for help, you pathetic clown. Also, nobody will ever know... this is the end of the road."

"Two..." Lucci counts, his voice flat.

"One..."

Time for action!

"Fuck you!" The leader of the Seeker group yells, taking out what looks like an antique bomb, made out of bronze, and lighting it with a lighter.

Bronze bomb...! I know that silly little thing. It's from World of Warcraft! It can stun!

He instantly throws the bomb, not at the CP9 agents, but towards Alex.

However, before the bomb reaches him, Benezia skillfully stops the bomb in the air using her biotics, holding it there for a split-second like it's frozen in time, and then throws it right back at the players—her expression calm, but containing a hint of malice.

Another player steps forward, mimicking a gun with his finger, while grabbing the same hand's wrist with his other hand, yelling, "Spirit Gun!"

A beam of blue energy shoots forward and hits the grenade, causing it to explode above the agents, sparing both teams of players.

As the bomb explodes, the Agents immediately freeze up, not moving at all.

That's Tekkai! They didn't take any damage. However... that gives the players an opening.

"Take the Frenzon, we have no choice!" their leader yells. "It's Purple Quality and worth a fortune, but we can't win otherwise!"

Frenzon? Combat Drugs?? Warhammer? From the Imperial Guard?

Suddenly, every one of them pulls out an injector and injects themselves with it, their hesitation gone, replaced by an unnatural calm.

No longer hesitating, Alex uses Warp, skillfully throwing an orb of Biotic Energy towards one of the two women on the back, a small-statured one that wields a staff.

I'll take out the supporters first! Die!

"Shield!" The woman yells, constructing a magical shield around herself, the Warp crashing against it, breaking it, but only dealing minor damage.

You have dealt 16 damage to Player Lucille

"Fucking Butcher! Leave her alone!" A tall, bulky man yells, charging at Alex, a huge Axe in his hands.

This one seems dumb... I'll take on this clown.

"I'll take this one," Alex says, drawing his [Draining Meteor Sword], conjuring Mustrano's Malice Mauler, and meeting him head-on, charging forward as well.

As he dashes forward, he sees the CP9 agents finally engaging in battle with the others, while spells and biotic abilities, cast by Tereza and Benezia respectively, fly past him, towards the enemy players.

As he is about to clash with his opponent, he hears him shout, not words or sentences, but a shout, causing himself and his fellow players to glow in a red light.

Warcry? Barbarian... so a melee user... he sure looks like it. Then maybe...

Thorian's Domination, the plant-like helmet forming around his head.

The Barbarian in front of him unleashes another shout, this one aimed towards him, but his new conjuration shields him from any mental attack.

You are immune to Threatening Shout

Alex counters with Unleash Spores, shooting a cone of spores straight at the confused Barbarian's face.

You have confused Player Andrei

As the player in front of him spins, seemingly confused, Alex doesn't hesitate and plans to attack.

"Do it human... let me feassssst! I need blood... sssssusssstenance!" He hears Mustrano yell in a crazed voice.

Immediately, Alex follows up with another conjuration skill and uses Toxic Breakthrough, slamming his claw-hand deep into the man's stomach, yet he feels it blocked by his immense muscles. Still, Mustrano manages to penetrate into the man's stomach and succeeds in causing bleeding and injecting the poison into the man's stomach.

You have dealt 51 damage to Player Andrei

You have poisoned Player Andrei

You have caused bleeding (abdomen)

Alex follows it up with a precise and quick slash from his new sword, not wasting time with abilities that may slow him down or take time, simply trying to deal decisive damage as long as his opponent is confused.

You have dealt 67 damage to Player Andrei

Player Andrei has lost 1% of his maximum resources

As Alex tries to land a few more hits, the man quickly recovers, the pain and shock seemingly strong enough to get rid of his confusion.

He suddenly slams his Axe onto the ground, with such might that Alex gets blown to the side, flying through the wall and breaking through, flying not only outside the room, but the entire building.

You have received 22 damage

Alex groans in pain as he lands outside on the hard rock, the cold air and fresh breeze making him feel like he just got teleported to another world.

The man jumps outside as well and immediately takes out a pair of smaller axes and throws them at Alex.

Barrier!

Alex quickly uses Barrier and dodges one Axe, while the other hits him in the chest, his barrier thankfully blocking all the damage.

You have received 0 damage (blocked by Barrier)

"Hehe," Alex snickers. "Do you think these cheap techniques can threaten me... you made a big mistake challenging me to a one-on-one."

He then carefully walks towards his opponent, still shimmering in a blue light as his Barrier shields him, the man in front of him revealing an expression of fear for the first time.
