Chapter 389 - Chapter 390: Achieved

Seeing that both Qingming and Uchiha Shisui had no objections, Uchiha Hachidai let out a slight sigh of relief.

To be honest, he was genuinely worried that these two, especially Qingming, being young and impetuous, might get caught up in the heat of the moment and insist on charging into the front lines.

After all, after learning about Qingming's actions the night before, Uchiha Hachidai had been particularly concerned.

Now that Qingming had not voiced any objections, he could finally relax.

Of course, if Qingming had the ability to read minds, he would have probably laughed at Uchiha Hachidai's concerns.

Charge to the front lines?

What a joke!

This time, Qingming was only here to pass the time. There was no way he would go rushing into the front lines.

He didn't need to think too hard to know that the Hidden Mist Village must have found out about his flying ninjutsu.

So, there was no chance he would try to fight off thousands of soldiers alone again, like he had done that night.

It was better to stay low-key.

While Qingming was lost in thought, Uchiha Hachidai continued to mention a few more things that needed attention before Shisui left.

Qingming, however, was asked to stay behind.

Before Qingming could even inquire about why he had been kept, Uchiha Hachidai took out a book and three scrolls from his drawer.

"These are..."

Looking at the items in Uchiha Hachidai's hand, Qingming's heart skipped a beat. Hesitantly, he asked, "The items I asked for?"

"Yes!" Uchiha Hachidai nodded in confirmation, handing the book and scrolls to Qingming, adding, "These are the items you requested from the clan. Elder Kasen asked me to bring them to you."

Upon hearing this, Qingming quickly took the book and scrolls from him.

He opened the book first and skimmed through it. He saw it contained detailed records of how the Uchiha clan developed earth-style chakra and the experiences they had.

There was no doubt that this would save him a great deal of time.

Then, he opened the three scrolls. Each of them recorded a ninjutsu: "Earth Release: Hardening Technique," "Earth Release: Earth Lance," and "Earth Release: Earth Flow Wall."

Of these, "Earth Release: Earth Lance" and "Earth Release: Earth Flow Wall" were well-known techniques, with the former being a signature ninjutsu of the Hidden Stone Village, fairly easy to learn, at a C rank, and focused on attack. The latter was a highly practical defensive technique at a B rank.

Both were exactly what he needed.

As for "Earth Release: Hardening Technique," though its name seemed plain, it was actually quite extraordinary, being a B-rank ninjutsu.

Its effect was similar to Kakuzu's "Earth Release: Earth Spear," as both enhanced the user's defense. The key difference was that while "Earth Spear" also added destructive power, "Hardening Technique" only strengthened the user's defense.

Moreover, the technique was most effective when the user remained still during its execution.

Under the same conditions, the defense it provided was comparable to or even superior to "Earth Spear."

Without a doubt, this technique would significantly improve his defensive abilities, filling a gap that had long existed. It was a rare and valuable ninjutsu.

"Ah, it really is great to have powerful backing!" Qingming thought to himself, gazing at the book and scrolls in his hands.

There was no way he would have been able to gather all this on his own in such a short time. It was only because of the deep foundation of the Uchiha clan that this had been possible.

If it had been him alone, he would have wasted who knows how much time and effort trying to gather all this information.

Shaking his head, he stopped overthinking and carefully put away the scrolls and book. He then solemnly thanked Uchiha Hachidai.

"Thank you, clan uncle, and Elder Kasen."

"You're welcome," Uchiha Hachidai nodded, offering a few words of advice before sending him off.

As Qingming stepped out of the room, he was about to leave when he noticed Uchiha Shisui standing not far away, leaning casually against the wall. It was clear that he had been waiting for him.

Qingming's mind quickly processed the situation, and he guessed that Shisui must have wanted to talk about something. Most likely, he wanted to discuss his concerns about Uchiha Hachidai's arrangements, which didn't align with his own views.

In the past three months, Shisui had frequently sought him out to discuss topics related to the clan, the village, the war, the future, and so on.

Although Qingming wasn't particularly interested in these matters, due to the vast knowledge he had from his previous life, his insights far exceeded Shisui's.

Because of this, a few words from him often made Shisui deeply thoughtful.

As a result, Shisui saw him as a Uchiha ninja with independent thinking.

This was precisely why Shisui came to find him now, which wasn't surprising.

But right now, Qingming didn't have the energy to engage in a long discussion with him.

What he needed had already been delivered, and now he was eager to begin his training. He wasn't in the mood to think about anything else.

Moreover, Uchiha Hachidai's arrangements suited him perfectly. He didn't want to complicate things.

Still, he knew he had to give Shisui the respect he deserved. After all, Shisui was bound to become an important figure in the ninja world, and who knew when he might be able to help him in the future?

With that thought in mind, Qingming slowed his steps and walked toward Shisui.

"Shisui, what's up? You need something?"

Before even getting close, Qingming spoke first.

"Yes," Shisui nodded, standing up straight. "There are a few things I wanted to talk to you about."

"Alright," Qingming replied briefly, "Let's talk while we walk."

"Okay!"

Shisui replied and followed him as they began walking toward the housing assigned to them.

Along the way, Shisui began explaining his viewpoint.

As Qingming had anticipated, Shisui was somewhat dissatisfied with Uchiha Hachidai's arrangements.

Well, it wasn't exactly dissatisfaction—more like the belief that, in such times, they should prioritize the interests of the village over family and personal concerns.

As for Shisui's words, Qingming neither agreed nor disagreed, just responding with a few casual words.

By the time they reached the vicinity of the residence arranged for them, Qingming found an opportunity to excuse himself from the conversation.

Standing still, Shisui watched Qingming leave with a furrowed brow. He sensed that Qingming didn't seem to agree with his views and appeared quite satisfied with Hachidai's arrangements.

"Could it be my mistake?" Shisui wondered to himself.

However, he quickly dismissed the thought. He couldn't believe that Qingming was such a person.

After all, the battle from the night before had clearly shown Qingming's loyalty to the village.

"It must just be a misunderstanding," Shisui reassured himself.

After a moment of contemplation, he left the area.

Meanwhile, Qingming, feeling the gaze behind him fade away, let out a quiet sigh of relief.

To be honest, conversing with someone as thoughtful as Shisui did put some pressure on him.

But now that it was over, he could finally focus on what mattered most: his training.

Compared to schemes and debates, he much preferred honing his skills.
