Ghost Realm Island.
Underground Base.
Inside Kimura Kazuhiko's room, Seimei put down the book in his hands, his brows furrowed in thought.
Time passed, second by second.
After a long while, his expression gradually relaxed.
Reopening the book, Seimei muttered to himself:
"Indeed, mastering any kind of knowledge is never a quick process."
At this point, it had been nearly three hours since he successfully infiltrated the base.
During this time, his shadow clone had dealt with all the unstable elements in the base, while Seimei extracted the information he sought from Kimura Kazuhiko.
Fortunately, Kimura had a habit of casually recording his experimental data.
This, along with the books he often referenced, provided enough information for Seimei to piece together the knowledge he needed about human modification.
With this, there was no longer a need to keep Kimura alive or to extract further information from his mind.
At this thought, Seimei glanced at the corner of the room.
Lying there was none other than Kimura Kazuhiko.
Without hesitation, Seimei stepped forward, pressing his hand against Kimura's chest and performing the Chakra Absorption Technique.
In mere moments, Kimura's chakra was completely drained, followed by his mental and physical energies.
As these energies rapidly dwindled, Kimura's life came to an end. Once he was completely lifeless, Seimei retracted his hand.
Feeling the noticeable surge of chakra within himself, Seimei nodded in satisfaction.
Then, forming a series of hand seals, he activated the Fire Release: Cremation Technique.
With a loud whoosh, a burst of flames ignited on Kimura's body, reducing it to ashes in moments.
"Well, that's done," Seimei murmured, blowing lightly on the ashes to scatter them.
Afterward, he began gathering his supplies. The day was already well into the afternoon, and he needed to leave before nightfall.
By evening, he still had reconnaissance duties in Flying Fish Town and couldn't afford to stay away from the Blackstone Outpost for too long.
Minutes passed as Seimei methodically packed everything.
Most of the items were books and scrolls, with only a small portion consisting of experimental tools, equipment, and some potentially useful medicines.
Looking at the neatly stacked items, Seimei thought to himself:
"Good thing I learned the Sealing Array Technique. Without storage scrolls, this would've been a real hassle."
Taking out a blank scroll and a brush, he dipped it in ink and began to draw intricate patterns on the scroll.
The sealing formula, as described in the scroll, essentially converted techniques like ninjutsu, genjutsu, and sealing techniques into written symbols.
By understanding the corresponding rules of conversion, anyone could create their own storage scrolls.
That said, these rules weren't exactly easy to learn.
For Seimei, however, learning the Sealing Array Technique inherently required working with scrolls. Once he mastered the basics, creating storage scrolls naturally came with it.
Within three minutes, Seimei had successfully completed the sealing array on the scroll.
At this point, the blank scroll had transformed into one adorned with intricate patterns, ready for use.
"Good," Seimei breathed, setting down his tools and forming a sequence of seals.
Due to his lack of experience, his execution of the Sealing Array Technique was slower than desired—almost like following the instructions step by step.
Still, the outcome was a success.
As he infused chakra into the scroll, the sealing formula came alive, expanding and spreading to envelop the nearby stack of supplies.
In an instant, the pile of items vanished, replaced by a large "Seal" character at the center of the scroll.
"Success!" Seimei grinned, satisfied with the results.
However, his grin faded slightly as he shook his head.
While pleased with his progress, he knew that his technique still lacked refinement.
A skilled practitioner could instantly seal objects into any container without needing to inscribe detailed formulas.
Some masters could even create pocket dimensions for storage.
Unfortunately, such advanced techniques remained far beyond his reach.
"One step at a time," Seimei muttered with a sigh.
He was well aware that with consistent effort, guided by his proficiency panel, he'd eventually master these skills.
There was no need to rush.
Stowing the scroll, Seimei stepped out of the room.
In the corridor outside, several shadow clones were engrossed in their training.
Seimei noted their progress and, realizing their session had run its course, dispelled the clones with a single hand seal.
With a series of pops, the clones vanished in bursts of chakra smoke.
Simultaneously, Seimei felt a surge of chakra within himself, accompanied by a flood of training memories and insights.
Closing his eyes, he took a moment to process these memories, converting them into tangible progress on his proficiency panel.
Fifteen minutes later, Seimei opened his eyes, checking the results on his panel.
Though none of his skills had leveled up, he was content to see steady progress in their mastery. Even the rudimentary Fire Release: Cremation Technique showed improvement despite its relatively low priority.
Shrugging, Seimei dismissed the panel and turned his attention to the base's exit.
Unlike his cautious approach when infiltrating, he moved swiftly this time, confident that all threats had been neutralized.
In just five or six minutes, he reached the underground pool serving as the base's entrance and exit.
Pausing to glance back at the base, Seimei murmured,
"Looks like it's time to wrap this up."
