"Pikachu, strike Swampert's right shoulder with Iron Tail. Lanturn, leave the water and fire a Water Gun at Swampert at maximum power—use the recoil to pull back. Staryu, set up Reflect."

When a Swampert suddenly burst out of the water and launched a clearly premeditated attack, Sato was startled—but he didn't panic. He reacted instantly.

"Pika—!"

The moment Swampert appeared, Pikachu was already on full alert. As soon as Sato gave the order, Pikachu dashed forward, his lightning-shaped tail instantly coated in a metallic sheen.

At the same time, Lanturn and Staryu reacted without delay.

With a powerful flick of its tail, Lanturn carried Sato out of the water, then blasted a high-pressure stream straight at Swampert. Staryu's central gem flashed, and an invisible barrier immediately enveloped Sato and Lanturn.

Thanks to his flying ability, Pikachu didn't disappoint. His Iron Tail slammed heavily into Swampert's right shoulder just as it thrust out a punch, instantly numbing the entire arm and drastically weakening its strength.

On the other side, Swampert's charge toward Sato was also slowed by Lanturn's Water Gun. By the time Swampert's fist reached Sato's face, it was blocked by Staryu's Reflect.

Meanwhile, Lanturn successfully used the recoil from Water Gun to widen the distance. Just like that, the wild Swampert's ambush ended in failure.

"Ludicolo, use Razor Leaf!"

"Wailmer, Water Spout!"

"Corsola, Whirlpool!"

At the same moment, Aina and the others reacted as well, immediately ordering their Pokémon to support Sato.

Unfortunately, this wild Swampert was extremely experienced in battle. It dove straight underwater, activating Dive and cleanly evading most of the attacks.

However, Swampert clearly wasn't willing to accept defeat so easily. After submerging, it didn't flee—instead, it launched another pursuit, attacking Sato and his Pokémon once again.

In truth, this Swampert had planned to gather its subordinates here and ambush Sato's group. What it hadn't expected was that they would be so cautious—actually using electricity to sweep the area before climbing the waterfall.

As a result, all the underlings it had painstakingly gathered in the sewer were wiped out. Even Pokémon like Banette took the opportunity to flee immediately.

But as the dominant Pokémon ruling the southern sewer region of the power plant, Swampert couldn't retreat. If it ran without doing anything, it would never be able to hold its territory again.

At the very least, it had to teach this detestable human leader a lesson—to show that it wasn't someone to mess with.

"Swamp!"

Swampert spat a barrage of mud balls at Pikachu in midair—Mud Bomb activated. At the same time, it slammed its massive palms into the water, instantly generating a towering wave that crashed toward Sato—Surf.

"If you don't want to leave, then stay here. Come out, Tentacruel. Bind it with your tentacles, then use Reflect Type on Swampert."

Seeing that the wild Swampert refused to flee and insisted on fighting, Sato was delighted rather than alarmed. He first had Lanturn evade the incoming Surf, then immediately threw a PokeBall, releasing Tentacruel and issuing commands.

At the same time, a faint blue glimmer flashed in Sato's eyes as he activated the system's scanning ability and pulled up Swampert's data.

...…...

The moment Tentacruel appeared beside Swampert, it immediately extended countless tentacles, tightly binding the wild Swampert, then activated Reflect Type, changing its own typing to Water/Ground.

Meanwhile, after dodging Mud Bomb, Pikachu once again used Iron Tail. This time, he struck Swampert squarely on the head as it was completely restrained by Tentacruel.

However, both Sato and Pikachu were shocked to discover that this Swampert possessed tremendous strength—far greater than that of ordinary Swampert.

With a violent surge of power, it tore apart Tentacruel's tentacles inch by inch. Pikachu's Iron Tail was blocked instantly by Iron Head, and Swampert even tried to counterattack by striking at Pikachu.

But Pikachu was nimble. Using the recoil from Iron Tail, he pulled back and flew back into the air.

"The more I see you, the more I like you. I've decided—I'm capturing you. Don't interfere, everyone. This one's mine."

"Tentacruel, don't let it escape—bind it. Lanturn, use Soak. Pikachu, use Thunder."

Seeing Swampert break free from Tentacruel's restraints so easily, Sato's eyes lit up with excitement as he shouted his commands.

Aina and the others naturally didn't step in. Hearing that Pikachu was about to attack, they quickly retreated with their Pokémon toward the shore, not daring to get close to the battlefield.

Although many of Tentacruel's tentacles had been torn apart, as long as it had sufficient energy, they regenerated instantly. Upon receiving Sato's order, it produced even more tentacles and bound Swampert once again.

At the same time, Lanturn swam rapidly to Swampert's right side and spat out a strange stream of water that struck it squarely.

In an instant, Swampert's entire body turned a watery blue. Affected by Soak, it temporarily became a pure Water-type Pokémon.

By then, Pikachu was fully prepared. A terrifying surge of electricity erupted from his body, the current turning jet-black before condensing into a spear of lightning that shot straight down at Swampert.

The moment Swampert was hit by Soak, it realized something was terribly wrong. It struggled desperately to break free of Tentacruel's tentacles and tried to dive underwater to escape.

What it didn't realize was that water conducts electricity. Now reduced to a pure Water-type, it could only helplessly endure Pikachu's devastating Electric-type attack.

The next second, black lightning crackled wildly across the water's surface. A miserable scream rang out, and a few seconds later, Swampert floated back up—its entire body charred black.

Although Pikachu was only level 42—eleven levels lower than Swampert—thanks to type advantage and the massive boost provided by the mutated Thunder Orb, he still managed to knock it out instantly.

"Go—Great Ball."

Seeing that Swampert had lost its ability to fight, Sato immediately took out an empty Great Ball and threw it with perfect accuracy.

The Great Ball opened upon contact, turning Swampert into a red beam of light that was absorbed inside.

A few seconds later, with a soft thump, the red light on the button faded. Sato successfully captured this wild Swampert.
