All eyes were focused on the unfolding spectacle.
Dialga's Dragon Rush was terrifying, and Palkia's Spacial Rend was even more devastating.
In its Origin Form, Palkia lacked arms, so its entire body became a living blade.
Cold, white light swept across space itself, bringing forth reality-warping distortions.
Spacial Rend—a slash capable of tearing apart the very fabric of space.
Who could witness such a scene without being deeply shaken?
As the Pokemon facing this attack, Ninetales instantly sensed mortal danger.
It was absolutely certain that if it tried to tank this assault, it would definitely lose its ability to battle!
Acting on pure instinct, Ninetales—having received no other instructions from Marvin—changed tactics on its own.
Its inverted body trembled slightly in mid-air as it prepared to activate Teleport. This was clearly a Psychic-type move that Ninetales had unexpectedly mastered, allowing it to teleport behind Zoroark.
From there, it could not only dodge the attacks but also catch Zoroark off-guard!
However, just as Ninetales was about to channel its psychic power, it suddenly discovered that its body seemed to have become a prison. The mental energy was blocked deep within, unable to be mobilized!
Teleport had failed!
How... how was this possible?
Ninetales, having never encountered such a situation before, experienced a brief moment of confusion. However, in a duel between masters, any negligence becomes an opening to be exploited.
The corners of Zoroark's mouth curved upward in a sneer filled with mockery. Somehow, just two months after becoming Chris's Pokemon, it had already begun to mirror Chris's mannerisms.
"Night Slash!"
Zoroark lunged forward, extending sharp claws wreathed in faint black smoke.
In the end, even though Ninetales managed to react, it couldn't change the outcome. All it could do was channel its full strength into its tail, bringing down the ice-covered appendage like a sledgehammer.
BOOM BOOM BOOM!
The explosion erupted suddenly.
Violent energies burst forth at the point where all four attacks converged.
Various energies cascaded into the ground and surged toward the sky like elemental pledges, spreading across the entire battlefield.
CRASH! Another explosion followed.
But this time it wasn't an energy collision—it was simply Ninetales being smashed into the wall.
Compared to Palkia's Spacial Rend and Dialga's Dragon Rush, Ninetales' Ice Hammer appeared utterly mediocre. Its power truly was inadequate. At the moment of contact, Ninetales was sent flying.
An icy arc traced through the air, elegant yet swift. The impression of Ninetales embedded in the wall was remarkably smooth, with no surface cracks visible—as if it had been cut with a blade and inserted perfectly. However, within the wall itself, everything had crumbled to rubble.
In the center of the battlefield, Zoroark stood calmly in place while Palkia and Dialga flanked it like guardian deities. The scene was serene and composed.
Shaking dust from its paws, Zoroark walked back toward Chris with its left and right escorts.
"Elegant, truly elegant," Chris couldn't help but admire. As expected of an ancient king.
Although that chubby little Gengar was also an ancient king, it truly lacked Zoroark's regal bearing.
As for Ninetales, it had obviously been defeated in one hit.
Although Chris had commanded the Dark-type move Night Slash, Zoroark had actually used Shadow Claw—the illusion simply changed the energy's apparent color.
Palkia and Dialga were the same. Beneath the phantasm lay violent Ghost-type energy amplified five times by the Spooky Plate.
It wasn't killed outright thanks to this world's protective rules; otherwise, that blow would have been sufficient to reduce it to ash.
If Palkia and Dialga weren't phantoms, Ninetales could boast about this battle for the rest of its life.
Ninetales: I withstood a combined assault from the gods of time and space and survived!
"Ninetales is unable to battle! Zoroark wins!" the referee announced immediately, having confirmed that the Ninetales blasted into the wall couldn't get up again—its eyes had become swirling spirals.
"One-hit KO?" The audience was momentarily stunned.
Ninetales hadn't sustained any other damage before this attack.
"Three against one—no wonder it won," some spectators complained about Marvin's disadvantage.
However, the current reality was that Chris had now defeated two of Marvin's Pokemon in consecutive battles, making him more than halfway toward victory.
"Chris! When will you become Champion? Is it today?"
"Is it too late for me to place a bet on Chris at the underground market?"
"Get lost!"
The audience's enthusiasm surged in waves.
Marvin, as the trainer, stood dazed in his position.
Ninetales was a Pokemon he had trained for over ten years. Even without the ability to Mega Evolve, it could still reach championship-level understanding with him. When Ninetales had launched its Ice Hammer, he had intended for it to use Teleport as a follow-up.
Why had it failed in the end?
Also, if the other two Pokemon created by Zoroark were phantoms, they should have been Dark-type attacks.
Even if Zoroark's three Dark-type moves struck simultaneously, the Fairy-type Ninetales—which resisted Dark moves—should only have received 1.5 times normal damage. How could it have been instantly defeated in one blow?
Marvin was completely puzzled.
"Your Excellence, Champion, please release your next Pokemon for battle," the referee reminded quietly, seeing Marvin's delay in sending out his next combatant.
Only then did Marvin snap back to reality. He took a deep breath, and his eyes suddenly became more focused.
His furrowed brow and unsmiling seriousness showed that he now regarded Chris as a rival requiring his complete attention—no, this should be considered a "challenge" from the weak against the strong.
Marvin touched his belt, selected the second-to-last Poke Ball among his remaining four, and hurled it toward the sky.
The Poke Ball opened in mid-air with a flash of silver light.
An azure torrent descended from above, bombarding the earth like a flood from the heavens themselves.
CRASH! The sound was deafening.
A blue-colored Pokemon with a brown turtle shell on its back made its appearance. This was Marvin's ace Pokemon—Blastoise.
Unlike regular Blastoise, however, Marvin's specimen stood four meters tall and was nearly ten times the size of a normal Blastoise. Without a doubt, this was a Totem Pokemon. But it wasn't just a simple Totem Pokemon—strange Unown symbols were inscribed across its turtle shell.
