"Rain Dance!"
Marvin commanded loudly while simultaneously raising his Z-Power Ring.
The two cannon barrels on Blastoise's back immediately blasted two jets of water toward the sky.
The sunny sky was immediately covered by dark clouds, and heavy rain began pouring down within moments. At the same time, Blastoise's body became shrouded in a layer of colorful light.
It completed its Mega Evolution while using Rain Dance.
Enter Mega Blastoise. The Pokémon now carried a much larger cannon barrel—compared to the cannons on its back before Mega Evolution, those could only be considered small guns at best.
Those two original cannons appeared to have been transferred to Mega Blastoise's arms.
The strange Unown markings wrapped around both the main cannon and the smaller barrels, giving them an even more mystical appearance. It was almost like... enchanting the weaponry itself.
But it wasn't over yet.
Facing a Legendary Pokémon, Marvin gave the highest standard of respect.
He pulled out the Poké Ball to recall Mega Blastoise, then retrieved the Dynamax Band.
He enlarged the Poké Ball and released it once more.
"BOOM!"
The entire battlefield trembled violently!
Enter Gigantamax Blastoise.
The standard Gigantamax form towered above everything.
The Gigantamax Mega Blastoise was several times the size of a normal Pokémon.
Fortunately, the National Stadium had anticipated this situation during its construction, so the battlefield was enormous. Even with the giant Mega Blastoise standing on it, the space didn't feel particularly cramped.
However, that terrifying body size still made everyone feel intimidated.
The back of the Gigantamax Blastoise was covered in cannon barrels. If it were lying on the ground, it would look like a mobile artillery fortress.
And this was after both Mega Evolution and Gigantamaxing.
The cannon brought by Mega Evolution had become the main gun, while the two original barrels had become the left and right auxiliary cannons.
The Gigantamax Mega Blastoise stood on the battlefield with three rapidly rotating red clouds above its head, its eyes flickering like a massive fortress capable of shattering worlds.
The sense of oppression was overwhelming!
"Electric Terrain," Chris announced calmly, not remaining idle. While Marvin was completing his Mega Evolution and Gigantamaxing, Chris was setting up his own strategy.
Zeraora slammed both fists against its chest.
Dazzling electricity erupted suddenly, spreading in all directions like a flood.
With Zeraora at the center and the walls of the battlefield as boundaries, a brilliant pure white cage made of electricity appeared. The only thing that could escape from the cage was the rain falling from above.
"Thunder!" Chris called out sharply.
The opponent had already set up a rainy battlefield, and it would be a waste not to take advantage of it with Thunder.
Zeraora raised one hand toward the sky.
A white Thunder Dragon emerged from the dark storm clouds. In the blink of an eye, it was as if the heavens themselves had shattered, and endless thunderbolts descended.
A thunderous waterfall hung suspended in the sky!
Marvin's expression darkened. He had made Blastoise use Rain Dance in front of an Electric-type Pokémon, which meant he had already prepared countermeasures for the inevitable Thunder attack.
But Chris's Zeraora's Thunder was a bit too outrageous!
Outrageous?
Not really outrageous at all.
The power of Zapdos's Treasure had doubled the move's power, and with the blessing of Electric Terrain on top of that, it would be strange if Zeraora couldn't deliver such a devastating strike.
Marvin quickly pulled out a Z-Crystal and pressed it onto his Z-Power Ring.
"Z-Move, Tectonic Rage!"
The Gigantamax Mega Blastoise immediately crouched down and bombarded the ground with heavy punches.
In the next second, the earth collapsed, and its massive body suddenly fell into an endless black abyss.
The Thunder Waterfall then descended, bombarding the ground, easily tearing through the earth's defenses and penetrating into the abyss below, but it didn't feel like it had struck anything solid.
Mega Blastoise had dodged it.
"Surprisingly flexible..." Chris couldn't help but mutter.
Although Gigantamax Pokémon were essentially just enlarged projections, controlling such massive amounts of energy and maintaining control over the enlarged body would inevitably create difficulties. The fact that this Blastoise could control its Gigantamax form like it was in normal condition showed that it had deep experience with Gigantamaxing.
"Zeraora, fly up!" Chris commanded.
If nothing else, the next attack from the Gigantamax Mega Blastoise would come from underground.
Marvin silently pulled out another blue Z-Crystal and pressed it onto his Z-Power Ring.
"Z-Move, Boundless Sea!"
Chris immediately became alert, because he had heard the name of this Z-Move before.
Judging by the color of the Z-Crystal, it should be a Water-type Z-Move. Among Water-type Z-Moves, aside from Primarina's exclusive "Oceanic Operetta," there was only the common Hydro Vortex.
It seemed that this Boundless Sea was Marvin's own custom Z-Move.
"Rumble..."
A deep vibration resonated through the battlefield.
After Mega Garchomp had destroyed the ground into distorted sandstone earlier, it had now completely transformed into an abyss. With the battlefield walls as boundaries, the ground had become a massive pit with no visible bottom.
"BOOM!" A muffled sound came from the depths of the enormous hole.
Even all the spectators could feel the vibration rising from beneath their seats.
"BOOM!"
An azure torrent erupted from the abyss, spiraling up through the sky! It looked like a massive drill bit trying to pierce through the heavens themselves.
Fortunately, Zeraora had already evaded it.
The moment it saw the azure torrent, it had already dodged to the sky outside the battlefield at a speed comparable to teleportation.
Looking at the soaring spiral water column, Chris could now confirm that Marvin's move "Boundless Sea" was based on the Z-Move Hydro Vortex.
However, what was the difference between this technique and a regular Hydro Vortex?
If this was all there was to it, Boundless Sea would just be an enlarged version of Hydro Vortex.
The thought had barely crossed his mind when something changed.
The azure water column before him suddenly exploded from the middle.
That spiral force acted like a tornado, and with the explosion, it brought endless water to wreak havoc in all directions.
Through the churning and twisting water flow, Chris could see that the Gigantamax Blastoise's semi-exposed massive body, like a mountain, had withdrawn into its shell and was spinning rapidly in mid-air while continuously shooting water from its cannon openings.
These water jets didn't scatter randomly in all directions. Instead, they locked onto Zeraora's position like guided missiles and flew toward it.
This time, Zeraora truly couldn't avoid them all.
After all, moving any further would mean leaving the battlefield boundaries entirely.
Faced with such a critical situation, Chris raised his eyebrows slightly. It was time for him to use his trump card.
So he raised his hand to give the command.
"Plasma Fist—Aura Sphere!"
