The men around the table started talking business. They went on about new ideas, how the market was changing, and how much money they were putting in this year. Numbers flew around — millions here, projects there. Everyone was trying to sound smart.
"And how much are you gonna invest this year, Carter?" Lyra's husband asked, turning to the young man with the open shirt.
Carter leaned back a little, relaxed. "Me? Just around 80 million," he said casually. "I like to test the market first before going all in."
Lyra's mouth opened slightly. She bit her lip without thinking. Eighty million sounded like a lot for someone so young.
"That's good enough," one of the older men beside Carter said, patting his shoulder. "You're young. You need to learn a lot more before you take any serious risks."
"Hehe, thanks," Carter replied with a smile. Then his eyes flicked over to Lyra for a quick second.
