"Xiao Yun, I'm touched that you still think of this old man."
Mr. Meng was overjoyed to see Wen Yun and Meng Yanzhi come over together as a couple.
"Grandpa, we had some free time, so we came over to have a meal with you." Wen Yun smiled warmly and took the dishes she brought to the kitchen to start preparing.
Mr. Meng, as usual, advised Meng Yanzhi to treat the girl well.
Meng Yanzhi nodded in agreement, assuring that Wen Yun would not be deprived in terms of material necessities.
After the meal, Wen Yun took Mr. Meng for a walk in the courtyard. Mr. Meng said, "Xiao Yun, you're a good girl. Tell Grandpa, does Yanzhi treat you well?"
Though Mr. Meng's hair was grey, his eyes remained sharp and bright.
"Don't be afraid, tell Grandpa." Mr. Meng encouraged Wen Yun. Over time, he had truly grown fond of this granddaughter-in-law.
Wen Yun paused for a moment, then smiled and said, "Grandpa, he's very good."
What Meng Yanzhi said that day, although hurtful, was true.
