For the next few weeks Raven continued to study in the Archive, looking through artifact after artifact, keeping her own journal full of notes, even if it was in a childish language, it wawa more professional than anything compared to other children or other aspiring scholars.
"Shes picking it up quicker than even you did." Emmet said with folded arms watching as Raven read over transcribed books of hundreds of years old text. The more she read, the better she got, the more she was able to access the scrolls from the Archive. She was doing study session after study session to learn more of the complex language.
It was context based, and had unique carved symbols and characters just for certain words in certain contents. But there was only so much that could be learned in a single day
"I'm glad. We don't know how long it will be until something comes along and ensures that we don't continue our research. So making sure that there's at least someone to carry on our teachings."
Iris sheepishly rubbed her arm as she gazed away. Her violet eyes shimmer with a hint of sadness about the prospect "We've been good though, right? Have you spoken to our mutual benefactor recently?"
"No. He hasn't communicated in some time. Been a bit over a month. He could still be looking for stones, but then again…" Emmett trailed off, not having to speak to know what he was referring to
"Yeah…" The twos gaze shifted back to raven as she was attempting to flip through multiple books with the help of her Devil Fruit. She'd gotten more and more active in that time.
Raven was a quiet girl, one people always looked at with a strangeness, but she had a spark inside of her that when it went off it couldn't really be stopped. And that was on full display right before them.
"Mmmm…" Raven pouted, stopping what she was doing. "I'm hungry…"
Striding over, Iris hoisted her up into her arms. "Oh I bet you are with that big brain of yours!" She said, giving her a gentle kiss on her forehead.
The two walked out of a hidden chamber, making sure that the area around them was clear from any ones view by a small spy glass embed into the wall of the tree, a false bookshelf opened up. Allowing them to step out into a far back part of the Library where dictionaries and text books were sat that were out of date.
The main section of the Library was a huge sprawling almost empty space with a gigantic chandelier hung from the ceiling. Large curving book shelves lined a perimeter of tile and rugs, with a large geocentric model of the entire solar system sat in the front, made of brass and carved and painted marble to paint the World, its singular moon, and then all the other planets around. The orange star sitting as the second largest object in the display. All suspended by metal curved bands like a gyroscope.
A sizable desk sat in front of it, where someone sat that could lead people to other parts of the Library.
"I'm gonna go and Take Raven on home. Gotta make us both some lunch and maybe some tea. And then maybe tonight we can bake some sweets huh!" She said looking to Raven, who gave a small smile, but with huge giant eyes.
Just off the coast of Tovara was a large ship, a snake on the front of it as its figurehead, and just below it was the symbol of none other than the world government. The ship itself was huge, able to have hundreds of people on board, and was top of the line. It had a steam engine, meaning that the boat itself had no mast whatsoever except for a single large chimney in the middle.
"We're approaching the island now, Sir!" A man in a black 3 piece and bowler hat saluted a man in a large long trench coat. CPA-7, Inquisitor and Head Adjudicator Feall. He had a pencil thin mustache and short black hair atop his head.
His face was stern and rounded with long sideburns at the side of his face. "Very well. Let CPA-2 on board know to alert the Marine Ships to be on standby over the horizon."
It took moments for the ship to dock near the front of the island, the large three Alexandria looming overhead even from the coast. Red light from flame bulbs flickered in the underbelly as a group of CPA-5 stood behind Feall. Unhooking a cone shaped object from the wall, he clicked in a few analog button, he was connected to the command bridge "Let them know we're here."
Suddenly, as Feall returned to his position, hands behind his back with tightened black gloves. A loud fog horn sounded out, it was distinct, and different than any other ships due to the specially formed whistle it was attached to.
Emmet and Iris' eyes shot up and shot toward the sound as it was faintly heard. "No…" Emmet said with a sigh, his shoulder falling in disappointment his lips pursing while shut his eyes.
"There, here already? It's been…What a few months since they were last here? What ever could they want now?" The world government had obviously known of The Island of Scholars, and often used it for research that even their own immense libraries didn't hold.
But they were also on constant radar and watch, This the Scholars knew of the possible possession of illicit, seditious, or forbidden information.
The front of the CPA ship opened, a large draw bridge-like structure folding forward and impacting the very small beach, pieces of grass along its length.
