Chapter 549 - Chapter 549: The Soul Clan's Dou Saint, Lei Zhen Appears

Chapter 549: The Soul Clan's Dou Saint, Lei Zhen Appears

On the vast, gray-brown land, faint energy mist drifted slowly along with the breeze. The hazy world gave off a mysterious feeling, as though even time had lost its meaning in this lonely place.

This was the third layer of the Heavenly Tomb. After spending nearly six months on the first layer, Mo Yu and Lei Fei'er finally made it to the third.

In a certain part of the land, two figures sat cross-legged around a campfire. The flickering flames illuminated their faces—it was Mo Yu and Lei Fei'er.

However, they seemed different from before—deeper and more composed.

The journey to the third layer hadn't been easy. Along the way, Mo Yu and Lei Fei'er encountered numerous powerful energy beings.

While these energy beings brought trouble, they also facilitated significant growth.

After absorbing the energy of these powerful beings, Mo Yu's strength had fully stabilized at the six-star level, with signs of progress toward the seven-star level.

The Heavenly Tomb was indeed a perfect training ground. It was no wonder the various clans fought tooth and nail for the two available spots each time.

"If my estimation is correct, we should have reached the depths of the third layer. My dear husband, when we set off tomorrow, we must be cautious. The deeper parts of the third layer are the most dangerous," Lei Fei'er said as she raised her beautiful face, glancing into the murky depths ahead with a serious expression.

"Understood," Mo Yu responded, his face also growing serious as he nodded.

The third layer was vastly different from the previous two. In Mo Yu's memory, encountering semi-saint-level energy beings here wasn't out of the ordinary.

Given his current strength, facing a semi-saint energy being would mean a life-and-death struggle.

With that thought, Mo Yu raised his gaze toward the distant gloom. His silver eyes glinted as he looked ahead.

In the far distance lay his destination. He could faintly feel his blood flowing faster.

The tomb of his ancestor, Lei Zhen, was nearby...

After resting for the night, Mo Yu woke Lei Fei'er the following morning, and the two set off again on their journey.

They walked several hundred meters through the energy-filled mist of the third layer before gradually coming to a stop.

Not far ahead, four energy beings sat cross-legged on a massive boulder. Among them, one figure in the center radiated an especially powerful aura—a nine-star-level energy being.

Mo Yu narrowed his eyes as he scanned the four energy beings. After so many battles, he was no stranger to these entities.

Without hesitation, Mo Yu's figure blurred and vanished, reappearing in front of an eight-star energy being in a flash. His fist, crackling with purple-gold lightning, smashed through the being, turning it into nothingness in an instant.

"Boom!"

With lightning speed, Mo Yu destroyed the first energy being and swiftly moved on to the other two, who were similarly obliterated.

Although these energy beings were said to be eight-star level, they weren't as powerful as actual eight-star fighters, making it easier for Mo Yu to defeat them.

"Roar!"

As the three energy beings were wiped out, the nine-star energy being suddenly opened its eyes.

In response, a massive surge of battle energy erupted from Mo Yu's body, transforming into violent lightning that struck the nine-star energy being with full force.

"Swoosh!"

The energy being let out a roar, but before it could even finish, it was disintegrated into nothingness. A brilliant energy core fell, which Lei Fei'er quickly snatched with her delicate hand.

After swiftly defeating the four energy beings, Lei Fei'er gave Mo Yu an admiring smile. The two shared a glance and then hurriedly continued their journey.

The path ahead was smoother for a while, but it didn't last long before Mo Yu's expression grew serious.

He began to sense a pressure slowly emanating from a spot not too far ahead.

"A semi-saint…"

Feeling this pressure, Mo Yu furrowed his brows and gradually slowed down. He knew that if they couldn't overcome this obstacle, reaching Lei Zhen's tomb would be impossible.

"Fei'er, be careful," Mo Yu whispered as they moved forward. He hid his figure in the shadow of a massive rock, narrowing his eyes as he peered ahead.

After a moment, Mo Yu's gaze locked onto the top of a hundred-meter-tall mountain in the distance.

There, a massive stone throne sat, and on it rested a towering figure, radiating an overwhelming aura of malice. The dark energy around the figure swirled like mist, encircling the peak.

"What oppressive malice…"

Feeling the sheer intensity of the aura, Mo Yu's expression grew even more serious.

This was the power of a semi-saint energy being. Although it wasn't truly at the semi-saint level, it was enough to make even a Dou Zun feel hopeless.

As Mo Yu watched warily, the figure on the mountaintop suddenly rose, its aura of malice growing even stronger.

"So, we've been discovered."

Mo Yu exhaled softly, mentally preparing himself.

This would be his first time facing a semi-saint.

However, just as Mo Yu was about to make his move, Lei Fei'er suddenly stood up and smiled gently at him before turning her gaze toward the massive semi-saint energy being.

Mo Yu was momentarily surprised, but then he saw a lightning symbol light up on Lei Fei'er's forehead—the Thunder Clan's family crest.

The semi-saint energy being's gaze locked onto the lightning mark on Lei Fei'er's forehead. A moment later, its eyes filled with fear.

"The Thunder Clan crest? You… you're from the Thunder Clan?"

The semi-saint energy being's eyes were fixed on the crest, and its face filled with shock and terror.

"Damn it, it's a Thunder Clan member. If that person finds out, I'm as good as dead."

The semi-saint mumbled to itself, glancing nervously toward the deeper parts of the Heavenly Tomb, a deep fear flashing in its eyes.

After a brief moment of hesitation, the semi-saint slowly retracted its oppressive aura.

Looking at Mo Yu and Lei Fei'er, it grudgingly said, "Go ahead. You're lucky this time."

Seeing this, Mo Yu narrowed his eyes slightly and glanced at Lei Fei'er. He knew this was related to the Thunder Clan's family crest.

"In that case, thank you."

Mo Yu and Lei Fei'er exchanged a glance and then slowly backed away. Once they reached a safe distance, they quickly turned and sped off.

"Fei'er, that semi-saint energy being backed down because of our Thunder Clan identity, right?" Mo Yu asked with a smile as they sped through the mist-filled land.

"My dear husband, you're very sharp. Yes, this was a method my father told me about. As long as we show the Thunder Clan's crest, very few beings in the third layer would dare touch us," Lei Fei'er explained with a smile.

"Oh? Could this be due to the ancestor, Lei Zhen?" Mo Yu mused, his eyes flickering thoughtfully.

"That's right. Father said that Ancestor Lei Zhen is one of the rulers of the third layer. We Thunder Clan descendants have benefited greatly from his influence," Lei Fei'er confirmed.

Mo Yu nodded, and his curiosity about Lei Zhen's tomb grew even stronger.

As Mo Yu and Lei Fei'er sped along their path, they suddenly heard faint sounds of something cutting through the air.

Two black-clad figures appeared on a large boulder ahead, looking down at Mo Yu and Lei Fei'er with mocking eyes, like cats playing with mice.

"Mo Yu, you're moving far too slowly," came a cold voice.

Hearing the sinister laughter, Mo Yu's face darkened. He looked up at the two figures and sneered, "So it's you two losers, Hun Ya and Hun Li."

"You bastard! Don't worry, this time you'll be the one running with your tail between your legs," Hun Ya snapped angrily, then gave a twisted smile as though he had something planned.

As Hun Ya and Hun Li stepped back, two figures dressed in gray suddenly appeared in front of them, as silent as ghosts.

"Dou Saints?"

The moment the two gray-clad elders appeared, an indescribable sense of danger surged through Mo Yu's heart.

Seeing the change in Mo Yu's expression, Hun Ya's eyes filled with cold malice. He sneered, "The tables have turned, haven't they? The hunter has now become the prey."

Despite the shocking appearance of the two Dou Saint-level elders, Mo Yu remained calm. He knew that in such moments, staying composed was crucial.

"Fei'er, it seems these two brought some Soul Clan Dou Saints with them. Although they've already fallen, their intelligence remains intact thanks to the Heavenly Tomb. These two are well-prepared," Lei Fei'er said in a serious tone.

Mo Yu nodded slowly and said, "I'll hold them off. You take this chance to head to Lei Zhen's tomb and summon our ancestor."

Lei Fei'er's face changed when she heard this. She opened her mouth to protest, but Mo Yu cut her off firmly.

Now wasn't the time for hesitation. As her fiancé, Mo Yu knew it was his responsibility to protect her.

"A god-tier bloodline in the Thunder Clan?"

One of the gray-clad elders stopped and looked at Mo Yu with a cold, detached expression.

"Senior Hun Diao, our Soul Clan is in a crucial struggle with the Ancient Clan. At this critical time, we can't afford any mistakes. The Thunder Clan is second only to our Soul Clan and the Ancient Clan, so it's best to eliminate this god-tier bloodline before it grows," Hun Ya said respectfully.

"Oh? So the thousand-year plan has reached its final stages?" Hun Diao asked, his eyes showing a rare trace of seriousness. He nodded and said, "In that case, it is indeed best to eliminate him."

"Enough talk, let's kill them quickly and leave. We're too close to that place, and delaying here could cause problems," the other gray-clad elder grumbled, frowning.

Hearing this, Hun Diao's eyes flickered. He nodded in agreement, and as he stepped forward, the space around them began to ripple violently, sending shockwaves across the land.

Seeing this, Mo Yu didn't hesitate. He pushed Lei Fei'er away and began fusing several strands of primordial lightning inside his body. A terrifying aura quickly spread from him.

"Great Desolate Thunder Orb!"

A glowing thunder orb, radiating destructive power, appeared in Mo Yu's hand. With a heavy expression, he slammed it into the space in front of him.

"Swoosh!"

The thunder orb exploded, unleashing a storm of purple-gold lightning that spread rapidly outward.

"Huh? As expected of a god-tier bloodline."

Seeing Mo Yu's powerful attack, even the two gray-clad elders showed a hint of surprise. This level of destructive force was something even a Dou Saint couldn't take lightly.

"Impressive, but it's still not enough!"

Hun Diao sneered. Opening his mouth, he spat out a thick cloud of black mist, which roared into the form of a massive black python, hundreds of meters long.

With a flick of its tail, the python surged forward, crashing into the surrounding space with a series of explosive cracks, shattering everything in its path.

"Boom!"

In the next instant, Mo Yu's Great Desolate Thunder Orb collided with the black python.

The violent impact caused an earth-shattering explosion, and a terrifying energy storm spread across the land.

Amidst the chaos, a giant black shadow shot out from the energy storm, heading straight for Mo Yu.
