Chapter 553: The Slaying of Xiao Fairy
"So this is the Ancient Insect Emperor Armor... truly remarkable."
Mo Yu softly murmured as he gently stroked the high-quality black garment on his body.
"Heh, this Ancient Insect Emperor Armor was a must-have for many strong individuals in ancient times, especially those made from the Insect Queen. Its value is comparable to a Heaven-ranked Dou Technique, and it's incredibly rare. After all, capturing an Insect Queen, such a powerful creature, is no easy feat. You're only likely to find one or two here in the Heavenly Tomb," Thunderquake said, stroking his beard with a smile.
Mo Yu nodded. Although this Ancient Insect Emperor Armor continuously consumed Dou Qi, it wasn't a burden for him, given his perfect Heavenly Gang Thunder Body. As a result, the armor could always remain on his body, providing constant protection against unexpected sneak attacks and sparing him countless troubles.
"This Ancient Insect Emperor Armor is my last gift to you. I hope you take care of yourself and don't disappoint my expectations," Thunderquake said with a smile, though his voice carried a hint of finality.
Hearing this, Mo Yu shifted his gaze from the armor and nodded solemnly, saying, "Rest assured, Ancestor. I will not let you down."
With that, Mo Yu took Lei Fei'er's hand, bowed deeply to Thunderquake, and then stepped into the spatial rift. Lei Fei'er followed closely behind him.
As Thunderquake watched the two disappear into the rift, he smiled, then slowly closed his eyes. After a moment, a sigh echoed in the great hall.
"Whether the Thunder Clan can produce another Dou Emperor depends on you…"
On the vast, mist-covered land, wisps of energy floated between the heavens and the earth. Occasionally, energy bodies drifted by silently, like ghosts.
Amidst a forest of jagged rocks, a figure clad in silver armor sat cross-legged in mid-air. A powerful aura emanated from the figure, indicating it had at least reached the Nine-Star Dou Zun level.
However, the next moment, the space around the Nine-Star energy body suddenly froze. Two pitch-black chains pierced through the void like lightning, shattering the energy body with a cracking sound. In the cloud of black mist, a dark figure darted out, snatching the Nine-Star energy core.
"These energy bodies may have immense power, but they lack any combat abilities," the dark figure said casually, storing the energy core in a ring. The figure raised its head, revealing a pale, sinister young face—none other than Hun Ya from the Soul Clan.
"There are indeed strong energy bodies deep within the Heavenly Tomb, but that creature is too terrifying. We're better off keeping our distance," said another figure that appeared beside Hun Ya, his face covered in hideous scars—Hun Li.
"It's a pity we encountered the famous Thunderquake of the Thunder Clan. Otherwise, that wretch Mo Yu would have perished at our ancestor's hands!" Hun Ya sneered. "Forget Mo Yu for now. In just a year, we'll be leaving the Heavenly Tomb. Don't forget, before we came here, the elders of the clan specifically instructed us to destroy any tombs of Xiao Clan experts. Over the past thousand years, thanks to our efforts, most of the Xiao Clan's tombs have been destroyed, cutting off their chances of rising again. However, a few still remain, and that is our task here. According to our intelligence, one of the remaining tombs belongs to a Dou Saint from the Xiao Clan named 'Xiao Fairy' from several thousand years ago. If we're correct, her tomb should be just ahead."
Hun Li nodded slowly, his eyes filled with cold killing intent. The Xiao Clan and Soul Clan were mortal enemies. The Xiao Clan's decline a thousand years ago was largely due to a sneak attack by the Soul Clan. Naturally, the Soul Clan would never allow the Xiao Clan to rise again. So, the tombs of Xiao Clan experts in the Heavenly Tomb had long been thorns in the eyes of the Soul Clan, something they were determined to destroy.
"Does the Soul Clan only know how to sneak around like thieves?"
Just as Hun Li nodded, a strange ripple appeared in the space around them, followed by a soft chuckle that echoed through the area.
Two figures stepped out of the void, appearing before Hun Ya and Hun Li with calm smiles, despite the dark, icy stares directed at them by the Soul Clan members.
"Mo Yu?" Hun Ya and Hun Li's faces turned grim as they recognized the figures.
Mo Yu stretched slightly and, alongside Lei Fei'er, floated in mid-air. He looked down at the two Soul Clan members with a playful smile. "It's been two years. It seems like things haven't been going too well for you."
Hun Ya's expression darkened, but he quickly scanned the surroundings, his wariness easing only when he didn't see the mysterious figure from before. Sneering, he said, "Mo Yu, don't get too arrogant. Even if we can't deal with you in the Heavenly Tomb, once we're out, the Soul Clan will be beyond the reach of your Thunder Clan."
"In that case, why not just make sure you two never leave?" Mo Yu retorted coldly.
"You're overestimating yourself!" Hun Ya's eyes narrowed, and his tone turned icy. Although he and Hun Li knew they weren't Mo Yu's match after their last encounter, they also knew it wouldn't be easy for him to stop them from escaping.
"Don't be rash. If Mo Yu dares to show up, he must be confident. Let's retreat for now," Hun Ya said cautiously, pulling Hun Li back. Despite their threatening words, they began to retreat swiftly, their eyes never leaving Mo Yu and Lei Fei'er as they kept their Dou Qi circulating for a potential fight.
"Whether you can leave or not isn't up to you," Mo Yu sneered, vanishing like a phantom.
"Hmph, courting death!" Hun Ya and Hun Li sensed Mo Yu's sudden movement. Their eyes flashed with malice as they halted abruptly, fists clenched as dark, cold mist surged from their bodies. They struck at the space where Mo Yu had disappeared.
As their fists crashed into the air, a faint shadow materialized. Two slender hands reached out and effortlessly caught their mist-covered fists.
With a crackling sound, violent thunder surged from Mo Yu's palms, annihilating the cold mist on their fists in an instant.
"Two years, and this is all the progress you've made? How disappointing."
Mo Yu's hands, steady as a mountain, didn't budge an inch despite Hun Ya and Hun Li's struggles. Their faces twisted in shock as they felt Mo Yu's strength had become as deep and unfathomable as an abyss.
In just two years, Mo Yu had undergone such a dramatic transformation?
As they grappled with their disbelief, Mo Yu shook his head and flexed his arms, unleashing a terrifying force.
"Boom!"
The fierce energy slammed into Hun Ya and Hun Li's chests, and their faces turned ghostly pale as they spat out mouthfuls of blood. Their bodies flew through the air like broken kites, carving deep trenches into the ground as they finally skidded to a stop nearly a hundred meters away.
"Five-Revolution Dou Zun?!"
Struggling to stand, Hun Ya and Hun Li looked up at Mo Yu in horror. The aura he had unleashed earlier had surpassed the peak Dou Zun level and reached the Fifth Revolution of the Nine-Revolution Dou Zun stage!
"How is this possible?"
Their lips trembled as they gazed at Mo Yu in disbelief. In just two years, they had barely improved, while Mo Yu had soared from a Six-Star Dou Zun to a Five-Revolution Dou Zun. The stark contrast was almost too much to bear.
"It's over," Mo Yu said coldly as he flicked his fingers, summoning a small, pitch-black lightning orb.
Though tiny, the orb contained immense power.
"Boom!"
The lightning orb shot forward, and with a thunderous explosion, a terrifying storm of lightning engulfed the sky.
"Thud!"
Two black shadows were sent flying once again, crashing heavily into the ground. Massive boulders along their path shattered into dust from the impact.
"Urgh!"
Amid the thick cloud of stone dust, Hun Ya and Hun Li coughed up blood mixed with fragments of their ruptured organs. Feeling their life force rapidly slipping away, terror and regret finally flooded their eyes.
As Mo Yu looked down at the two lifeless bodies, he shook his head and then walked towards Lei Fei'er, who stood nearby.
"My husband's power is truly beyond comprehension," Lei Fei'er murmured in awe, her beautiful eyes blinking in admiration after witnessing Mo Yu's effortless defeat of the Soul Clan members.
"Heh, it was nothing. Just dealing with some Soul Clan trash," Mo Yu waved off her praise casually.
As a Five-Revolution Dou Zun, if he couldn't easily handle two Eight-Star Dou Zuns, he might as well bash his head against a wall.
After finishing off Hun Ya and Hun Li, Mo Yu remembered their earlier conversation. His brow furrowed as he said, "The Soul Clan has been secretly destroying the tombs of Xiao Clan experts for so many Heavenly Tomb cycles. Has no one ever tried to stop them?"
It all made sense now—when Xiao Yan entered the Heavenly Tomb in the original story, there was only Xiao Xuan's tomb left. All the other Xiao Clan tombs had been destroyed by the Soul Clan's covert actions.
Lei Fei'er thought for a moment and then said, "The Soul Clan has always been crafty and insidious, and they're mortal enemies with the Xiao Clan. Add to that the fact that only the younger generation can enter the Heavenly Tomb, and it's no surprise the Soul Clan has found opportunities to act."
Mo Yu nodded at her explanation, sighing softly. "I just hope that Xiao Yu can find some hope in this last remaining tomb of Xiao Fairy."
From Hun Ya and Hun Li's conversation, Mo Yu knew that only a few Xiao Clan tombs remained in the Heavenly Tomb. Xiao Yu's best chance of obtaining the Xiao Clan's Dou Emperor bloodline now lay in the tomb of Xiao Fairy, the Dou Saint.
If Xiao Yu wasn't found within that tomb, then she might have missed this golden opportunity altogether.
Mo Yu knew that after Xiao Yan became a Dou Emperor in the future, the Xiao Clan's bloodline would experience a resurgence. But if Xiao Yu could obtain a sufficiently pure Dou Emperor bloodline now, and later have it activated by Xiao Yan, her bloodline would reach a terrifying level.
However, all of this hinged on Xiao Yu achieving enough in the Heavenly Tomb.
Even if she failed, Mo Yu wouldn't be too disappointed, though he'd certainly find it a shame.
Sensing his thoughts and concerns, Lei Fei'er gently took Mo Yu's arm and reassured him softly, "Don't worry. Sister Xiao Yu is a good person, and she'll definitely find great fortune."
Hearing Lei Fei'er's words, Mo Yu raised an eyebrow in confusion. She had always been jealous of Xiao Yu in the past, but now she was calling her "Sister Xiao Yu"?
He remembered that Lei Fei'er had once even quarreled with Qing Lin, his obedient maid. Yet now she was being so accepting of Xiao Yu.
Of course, Mo Yu didn't realize that Lei Fei'er's attitude had undergone a significant change. After discovering that Mo Yu possessed the same Heavenly Gang Thunder Body as her ancestors, her admiration for him deepened. As a result, she had gradually let go of her jealousy over Xiao Yu, choosing instead to be more tolerant.
In her eyes, even if Xiao Yu wasn't worthy of Mo Yu, she herself wasn't much of a match for him either. So, there was no point in competing. Better to live peacefully together.
Moreover, Lei Fei'er knew Mo Yu's character well. If she were to insist on fighting with Xiao Yu for his affection, it would only make Mo Yu unhappy.
Mo Yu was puzzled by her sudden change in attitude, but since it was a good thing, he simply nodded in satisfaction and continued walking deeper into the Heavenly Tomb with Lei Fei'er.
Before long, an ancient stone tablet appeared before them.
The stone tablet stood proudly in the dark, like a lone plum blossom in winter—elegant and serene. Carved into the ancient monument was a depiction of an ancient flute, radiating a mysterious and majestic aura.
"According to the clan's records, the Xiao Clan's 'Xiao Fairy' was skilled at playing the flute. This is likely her tomb," Lei Fei'er whispered.
Mo Yu nodded, gazing at the stone tablet with the ancient flute. Though countless years had passed, the flute still exuded an indescribable aura.
As Mo Yu marveled at the sight, he suddenly sensed something—Xiao Yu's presence…
