Chapter 754: Obstruction and Conditions
Above the ancient bluestone plaza, the air rippled as a spatial vortex took shape.
The moment a clear young voice rang out from within, countless gazes across the area turned sharply toward the source.
Several figures emerged slowly from the vortex, their presence immediately drawing the attention of the Celestial Swallowing Python Clan.
At the forefront stood two figures—on the left, a man cloaked entirely in black, his hood concealing his face; on the right, a tall and striking young man with an air of calm dominance. His silver eyes gleamed coldly, carrying a detached power that seemed to pierce the soul. The pressure emanating from him caused even seasoned experts among the clan to involuntarily tremble.
That aura… it surpassed even that of some of the elders.
"So that's him? Mo Yu, Cai Lin's husband?"
"He's so handsome… no wonder Lady Cai Lin married him. If it were me, I might not resist either."
"I heard he's not only handsome but incredibly strong—he even founded his own faction on a major continent."
"Unbelievable. It seems he and Lady Cai Lin truly are a match made in heaven."
In one corner of the Ten-Thousand Serpent Mountain, a group of seductive young women from the clan chattered excitedly, thoroughly captivated by Mo Yu's looks and charisma.
But the gazes of the male clansmen were a different story. Their eyes brimmed with jealousy and resentment.
"That guy actually had the gall to come here? Is he looking to die? Does he really think being Lady Cai Lin's husband gives him the right to act however he wants?"
"Damn it! How could Lady Cai Lin demean herself by marrying a human? That defiles the noble Nine-Colored Swallowing Python bloodline!"
"Exactly! If she'd married me, I'd gladly lose half my lifespan!"
"Keep dreaming. You're not even worthy to utter her name."
All around the mountain, voices rose and clashed as Mo Yu became the focus of increasingly heated debate.
Over the past two months, his name had already spread like wildfire among the clan. When it came to light that he was Cai Lin's husband, countless male members were devastated. To them, Lady Cai Lin—noble, breathtakingly beautiful, and alluringly mature—was the goddess of their hearts.
Now that she belonged to a human man, their envy and anger toward Mo Yu deepened.
As mocking whispers filled the plaza, the elders seated upon their massive stone thrones turned their piercing gazes toward Mo Yu.
"So you're the one called Mo Yu?"
The blue-robed elder who had opposed him earlier swept his cold eyes over Mo Yu. "I didn't think you'd actually have the courage to come here. Very well—since you have, you won't leave until your marriage with Cai Lin is annulled!"
The other elders also scrutinized him, their expressions mixed with disdain and curiosity. This was their first time seeing him in person.
Yet the oppressive energy radiating from Mo Yu genuinely caught them off guard. To feel pressured by him was something that ordinary Earth Sovereigns could never cause.
Clearly, this lower-plane cultivator was anything but ordinary.
At the center seat, Clan Chief Mang Cang observed quietly. His face was calm, betraying no emotion, but a faint flicker stirred deep within his otherwise steady eyes—Mo Yu's presence had left an impression even on him.
Beside him, Cai Lin stared, momentarily dazed. The figure before her seemed almost divine, the years of longing suddenly surging within her chest. In a trance, tears shimmered faintly in her eyes before clarity returned.
Her beautiful lips curved into a soft, radiant smile.
"You came..." she said gently, her voice laden with emotion.
"I'm here." Mo Yu smiled, his tone tender. He reached forward, taking her cool hand in his own. "I came to find you."
His touch sent warmth up her arm, and Cai Lin bit her lip softly, moisture glinting in her eyes. In that instant, the proud serpent queen looked simply like a woman reunited with her beloved.
"Sorry... it seems I came a bit late," Mo Yu murmured softly.
Then, before the shocked gazes of the gathered clansmen—and the wails of despair from countless envious males—he wrapped her in his arms. "Forgive me. It won't happen again."
Even Cai Lin's composure faltered. A faint tremor touched her shoulders. After years apart, hearing those words unraveled the restraint buried in her heart.
"The Great Thousand World is vast and dangerous," she whispered. "I waited for you… it's enough that you're safe."
Mo Yu smiled. "With a wife like you, what more could I ask?"
Though he treated all his companions fairly, there was no denying that Cai Lin held a special place in his heart.
A polite cough suddenly broke the atmosphere.
Hearing it, Cai Lin's cheeks flushed. She quickly pulled away, regaining her usually proud composure. In the clan, she was known for her strength and would never allow others to see her acting tender as an ordinary woman.
"Leave the rest to me," Mo Yu said softly, releasing her. When he noticed the multitude of jealous glares aimed his way, he added teasingly, "It seems your charm hasn't faded at all."
Cai Lin's face turned slightly red. "It's not like I want this attention…" she muttered under her breath.
If Mo Yu had heard her confusion, he would've cursed inwardly—these weren't serpents, they were scoundrels pretending to be!
As the atmosphere buzzed with tension, Mo Yu's silver eyes sharpened. He turned coldly toward the blue-robed elder—the same one who had coughed earlier.
"I am Cai Lin's husband. Nothing in this clan can change that. Do you have something to say, Elder?"
The elder sneered. "Such arrogance! You may be the so-called Lord of Thunder Prison, but this is our territory. Don't get ahead of yourself.
Let me offer you a piece of advice—Cai Lin carries the blood of the Nine-Colored Swallowing Python, a sacred lineage of our clan. You'd better dissolve this farce of a marriage now, else the wrath of our clan is something your Thunder Prison cannot withstand!"
As he spoke, the elder shot to his feet. A vast ocean of spiritual power surged outward, blanketing the heavens. The very air darkened; the wind howled like a living creature.
Behind him, his power took the form of a colossal blue python that loomed overhead, shrieking with terrifying might.
It was a blatant attempt to crush Mo Yu's spirit through pressure alone—if Mo Yu faltered, he would lose all standing in the discussion to come.
Cai Lin's face tightened at the suffocating aura, but Mo Yu calmly stepped in front of her, shielding her completely. His presence stood unyielding, like an immovable wall.
"So be it," he said coldly. "Allow me to witness the strength of a Swallowing Python Elder."
He stepped forward. The instant his foot touched the ground, the space beneath him shattered like glass, ripples of destructive force surging outward.
The shockwave met the giant azure python—
Boom!
A cry like a dying dragon echoed, and the python exploded into fragments, scattered into nothing.
The blue-robed elder staggered backward, his face twisting with disbelief. Cracks splintered across the throne beneath him.
Gasps erupted from the surrounding elders.
"How is this possible? Elder Blue Serpent is a High Earth Sovereign!"
To see him overpowered in a single exchange made them realize Mo Yu's true power.
Mang Cang's eyes glinted faintly. "I see... the Lord of Thunder Prison has already reached such a level. No wonder you broke through the lower-plane confines. Truly impressive."
His deep voice resonated like rolling thunder, spreading through the air. Instantly, the clashing forces around them dissipated, erased as if they had never existed.
Mo Yu narrowed his silver eyes. "Peak Earth Sovereign…" he murmured. Mang Cang's strength deserved respect—but fear, never.
Even if he couldn't defeat him outright, holding his own wouldn't be impossible.
"Clan Chief Mang Cang flatters me," Mo Yu said evenly. "I came here for Cai Lin. She is my wife—our marriage was bound long before I ever reached this world. Whatever pride your clan holds, that truth cannot be denied.
And though my Thunder Prison may not rival your clan's heritage, forcing this matter will serve neither side."
The blue-robed elder's expression darkened, but he couldn't refute the logic. Mo Yu's strength left coercion out of the question.
Mang Cang regarded the pair silently. He could tell—this bond wasn't something that could be destroyed by authority or bloodline pride.
Even if the clan succeeded in separating them, they would lose Cai Lin's loyalty forever—and gain only resentment.
After a thoughtful pause, he said, "Your marriage was formed in the lower plane; our clan has no right to interfere. Forcing it would only push Cai Lin away, and I have no wish for that."
At that, Cai Lin stepped forward. "Clan Chief, I am grateful for the clan's care these years. But Mo Yu is my husband—no one can change that. If anyone tries, I will leave the clan behind."
The blue-robed elder's face sank, just as he opened his mouth to argue—but Mang Cang raised a hand to silence him.
"I understand your feelings," he said gently. "You are a Nine-Colored Swallowing Python, a blessing to our lineage. For my sake, do not act rashly.
Here is my condition: if the Lord of Thunder Prison can help you obtain the Ancient Swallowing Python's divine bloodline during the upcoming Divine Beast Origin, then I, Mang Cang, give my word—this matter will be settled, and none in our clan will oppose your union again."
A faint smile touched Mo Yu's lips. "Agreed."
