The Elite Four, Gym Leaders, and Lance hurried back into the League Hall after getting phone calls.
Every gym leader belonging to Kanto had gotten a phone call that the city or some town under their protection was being attacked and they needed backup immediately.
The grand doors slammed shut behind them, muffling the panicked shouts from the crowd outside.
Officials and military officers rushed out immediately, barking orders into radios as they headed to handle the crisis. They were the first defence against any attack on the region. Psychic Pokemon appeared to teleport them to their respective posts where their help was required the most.
They would take care of the situation and if not, they would hold the city/town under attack safe until the gym leaders and elite four made their move.
"What's the situation?" Lance demanded the moment they were inside.
Koga stepped forward to reply and let everyone know how grace the situation was. "Someone used this opportunity when everyone was busy with the coronation ceremony to cause Pokémon tides across various cities in the Kanto region."
"It must be Team Rocket," Lt. Surge growled, his muscular arms crossed.
"Who else would pull something this big?"
"I think so too," Koga agreed. "All the major cities are under attack at the same time, Viridian, Cerulean, Vermilion, Celadon, Fuchsia, Saffron, and even smaller towns. Only Team Rocket has the resources and people to coordinate this."
"Those Team Rocket bastards," Giovanni spat through gritted teeth, his fists clenched.
Gladion stared at Giovanni, not amused by the acting this time.
'You're the leader, you snake,' he thought, but kept his face neutral.
He was angry. Very angry. Moonwood Town, his hometown, was under siege. A Pokémon tide from Mt. Moon had rampaged down the slopes: Golems Zubat, Paras, even Onix bursting from caves in a frenzy.
Thankfully, his mother, Erza, was holding the line. Along with the Aura Guardians assigned to protect the town by the Aura corps under his request.
Rangers were there too. He was not worried even if the situation escalated. Erza could use the Pokemon that he had left back at home to make sure the town is safe.
He was angry because it was the second time his home was attacked.
At that moment, Gladion just wanted to rip Giovanni's mind open with his psychic powers, force the truth out.
But without proof that Giovanni led Team Rocket, Gladion would be the one locked up or worse. He clenched his jaw, and the air around him began to shake. Raw psychic energy crackled around him making everyone feel the pressure.
Everyone turned. The pressure was intense, like standing near a storm about to break. Lance's Dragonite stepped in front of its trainer, wings half-spread, antenna twitching.
Pokémon burst from Poké Balls across the room—Sabrina's Alakazam, Agatha's Gengar, Surge's Electrode, Brock's Steelix, all sensing the power released by Gladion along with the killing intent rolling off Gladion in waves.
Two gentle taps landed on his shoulders. "You need to calm down, brother," Gwen said, her usual smirk gone, replaced by worry.
Sabrina, on his other side, sent a mental psychic hug. It was warm, soothing, like a blanket wrapping his mind.
Gladion forced deep breaths, eyes still glowing blueish-white for a second before fading. The air settled, and the Pokémon relaxed slightly, though they stayed out, alert.
Agatha watched,'I've seen psychic prodigies. I've seen strong psychic Pokémon. But what the boy just released was strong, very strong. The pressure could've crushed us if our Pokémon hadn't shielded us.'
Her Gengar floated beside her, whispering in her mind, agreeing something was off with Gladion. 'I'll talk to Koga later about whatever this was,' she decided, pushing the thought aside for now.
Lance glanced at Dragonite's back. The alpha's antenna was straight up, a sign it saw Gladion as a real threat.
Not Gladion's Pokémon, but him. A human making an alpha Dragonite wary? It sounded absurd, but Lance filed it away. It was no time to dwell on this.
"Do you know what they're after? Their motive?" Lance asked, voice steady.
Koga shook his head. "I don't know for sure."
"How did they cause the Pokémon to rampage?" Lance pressed.
"They stole eggs from key Pokémon," Koga explained. "This was planned for months. They scouted breeding grounds, Mt. Moon, the Safari Zone, even hidden nests in forests and hit them all at once while we were here. The parent Pokémon went berserk along with the rest of their packs, stampeding to find their young."
"So their real target was Pokémon eggs," Brock shouted, his face red with anger. It was the first time anyone had seen the usually calm Pewter Gym Leader lose it.
"How dare they separate eggs from parents! Unforgivable!" As a breeder who raised Pokémon from eggs and cared for his many siblings, Brock took it personally.
Giovanni spoke calmly, stroking his chin. "No, the eggs are just a means. I think this is a distraction for something bigger."
Gladion shot him an annoyed glare. 'What are you playing at now, Giovanni?'
