Gladion, Blaine, Sabrina, and the other diplomats from Indigo were taken to a large meeting room. The room had a long wooden table with comfortable chairs arranged neatly on both sides.
The leadership of Sinnoh was already waiting for them. Everyone took their seats quietly and the meeting began with a serious but hopeful atmosphere.
Champion Rowan stood up first and spoke with a deep, steady voice. "It is time that Sinnoh finally opens its borders to other nations. The scars left by the Infinite Pokemon War have finally healed. Now it is time to forge new friendships and new connections."
The Sinnoh leaders nodded in agreement while the Indigo group listened attentively.
"Before we move on to other related talks, does anyone have any objection to us opening our borders to Indigo and then maybe Hoenn?" Champion Rowan asked politely as he looked around the table.
An old man raised his hand straight away. Every eye in the room turned towards him. He met their gazes without hesitation. "My Pokemon, my son, all died to Kanto in the Infinite War. Countless others died. Would Indigo compensate us for that loss?"
He asked this while looking straight at the Indigo representatives. His voice was filled with anger that had not faded over the years.
Gladion could not help but speak up. "You are saying as if Hoenn people did not kill anyone in the Infinite Pokemon War." He took a pause to let his words settle before continuing in a calm but firm tone. "Well, let us not talk about the past. Let us talk about the present and the future. Kanto and Johto and Hoenn have let bygones be bygones. Would Sinnoh be petty and hold onto grudges or would they move on for a better future for your people?"
He looked directly at the old man with sincere eyes. "Old man, do you have grandchildren?" The man nodded slowly with a frown still on his face.
Gladion continued, "Do you not want them to visit places beyond Sinnoh? Do you not want them to go on vacation with their children in the future in other regions? Do you not want your descendants to try to catch their dream Pokemon team from another region? Imagine your grandchildren laughing on the beaches of Hoenn, exploring the forests of Kanto, or training alongside trainers from Johto."
"The war took much from all of us, but closing our hearts now would only take more from the children who were not even born during those dark days. Let us give them a world without borders and without the pain of old grudges. Let us build something better together. My grandpa did the same for me after all."
The old man sat silently for a long moment. His frown slowly softened as he thought about his grandchildren and the future they deserved. Finally, he nodded and lowered his hand. The room felt a little lighter after his agreement.
"Very well. Now the talks," Rowan said, moving the meeting forward. "Would we be just opening the borders or would we be joining the league?"
Cynthia was the first one to answer with confidence. "Joining the league would be most beneficial to us."
"Why is that?" someone from the Sinnoh side asked curiously.
Cynthia explained clearly, "We would be a part of a bigger organisation and thus would have allies against other regions if they decided to attack us. It would also mean lower taxes and easier border travel. Our trainers would also be able to compete in foreign leagues while our region would get trainers competing from other regions, increasing the competition level and also improving the overall strength of our Pokemon."
Gladion added his thoughts to support her. "It would also mean that you would be allowed to legally capture Pokemon in other league regions." He spoke,"This opens up many opportunities for trainers and researchers alike."
"Also, an international police force would be formed and thus criminals could easily be apprehended with support from all three regions," Sabrina added smoothly. The benefits were clear and appealing to many in the room.
"We would be needed to send people to this police force?" someone asked with concern.
Blaine nodded. "Yes."
"That is preposterous," the same man said angrily. "Why should we send men to deal with so many of your criminals? Your regions are facing so many criminals. Indigo with Team Rocket and Hoenn with Team Aqua and Team Magma." He continued speaking with rising frustration, "Team Rocket has caused chaos for years with their experiments and thefts. Team Aqua and Team Magma nearly destroyed entire regions with their crazy plans about the sea and land. We in Sinnoh have our own problems, but at least they are contained. Why should our best officers risk their lives cleaning up messes created by your regions?"
"I say we open borders for trade and travel but keep full control of our security. Let Indigo and Hoenn handle their own criminals first before asking us to send help. It is not fair to drag us into your endless troubles."
"Please, it is not like you do not have your own problems to deal with like Team Galactic," Sabrina said coldly.
The man shut up afterwards and looked uncomfortable. The mention of Team Galactic, a dangerous group active in Sinnoh, made his argument weaker.
The discussion continued about other important topics for a long time. Rowan asked about trade agreements between the regions.
Gladion explained how easier movement of goods could help both sides grow economically. "Farmers in Sinnoh could sell their special berries in Indigo markets, and our trainers could bring new items that improve Pokemon care," he said.
Cynthia nodded and added ideas about joint research projects on legendary Pokemon and ancient ruins.
Another official raised a point about trainer exchanges. "Our young trainers would benefit greatly from competing in the Indigo League. The experience would make them stronger."
Blaine agreed and mentioned that Indigo trainers would also learn new strategies from Sinnoh battles. The room filled with constructive ideas as both sides shared their thoughts openly.
Sabrina spoke about cultural exchanges. "We could organise festivals where people from both regions share their traditions and Pokemon performances. This would build real friendships beyond politics." Everyone seemed to like the idea, and notes were taken for future planning.
The conversation then turned to security cooperation. One Sinnoh leader asked for details about the international police force. Gladion explained patiently how it would work with shared intelligence and joint operations. "Criminals will find it much harder to escape across regions," he said confidently.
