Today, I am going to get my symbiote, and I am super excited. I study at a high school that teaches about Symbixes and symbiotes. Because of my circumstances, I will receive a symbiote egg for free, and I am really grateful to my school for this.
Symbiotes are found in eggs because, when beasts are killed, they have a chance to drop a symbiote egg. Symbixes scout dangerous areas and hunt beasts to obtain these eggs, which are extremely valuable. Once an egg appears, there's no way to identify what symbiote is inside, making it a risky endeavor. Contracting a weak symbiote could make survival much harder in the future.
I washed my face and ate the breakfast I made myself. After getting dressed, I left my house. While walking to school, I met Kira, my best friend, who came from a wealthy background.
"What's up, Alex?"
"I'm super excited right now," I replied.
He nodded. "Me too. Get into my car."
I climbed into his car and took a seat. I then asked:
"Did you buy your symbiote egg?"
"Yes, I did. I wanted to show it to you. I was sad when you refused my offer to buy you one last time."
He wanted to buy a symbiote egg for me, but there was no need since the school provided free ones for orphans and others. However, the eggs given by the school were usually weak symbiotes.
"I'm worried about you. What if you get a weak symbiote?"
He was being honest. If I contracted a weak symbiote, my already difficult life would become even harder.
He showed me his egg. It was predicted to contain a tiger symbiote.
"My parents bought this at auction, and there was another egg estimated to have a jaguar inside. I wanted to give that egg to you, but you said no to my offer."
I didn't want to feel indebted, so I rejected the egg.
"Come on. Everything will be okay. I believe in my luck, and I think I'll get a pretty good symbiote."
I didn't believe in my rotten luck, but I said it anyway. He fell silent, and I didn't want to talk much either.
We arrived at school, which was already bustling with people.
We went to our classroom and waited for our teacher to arrive. After five minutes, he entered the classroom with a big box in his hands. Our teacher had features of a snake; his eyes resembled snake eyes, and his sharp nails were poisonous, so no one wanted to touch them. He then announced:
"Today is the day that decides your future. As you all know, you will contract your symbiote, which will be with you for your entire life, and you won't have a chance to contract any other symbiote. If you brought your own eggs, you can start contracting them; if you didn't, you'll get eggs from this box."
He opened the box. Everyone had prepared their own eggs. Who wanted to get a weak symbiote from the school? No one.
I stood up and headed to the box. I looked inside, which was full of symbiote eggs. I observed every egg present. My eye caught one egg. It had green moles and one big red mole in the middle. It was rather small compared to the other symbiote eggs.
I decided to take this egg, feeling a bond between us already. It felt like it was calling to me. I then sat down at my seat.
The process of contracting was like this: a contractor would pour their blood on the egg they wanted to contract. The egg would start to transform, and to finish the process, the contractor needed to use their spiritual energy to help their future symbiote.
I bit my finger, and blood flowed from the wound. I slowly poured it on the egg. It began to change; through our newly established connection, I knew my symbiote was a spider. I then used my spiritual energy to help it reach its final form.
It took one hour for my spider to take its final form. During that time, I used up all my spiritual energy and was exhausted.
When I came to my senses, everyone was clapping. I then saw the reason why—they were celebrating Kira's symbiote, which had turned out to be a tiger, just as expected. Everyone was exhausted, yet they continued to clap for him. It was rare to form a contract with predators like tigers. They were considered extremely powerful and belonged to the offensive type of symbiotes. My spider symbiote, on the other hand, belonged to the support type, as it didn't have the abilities to kill enemies quickly. Its capabilities were limited; it could only help by using its webs to control opponents. I also didn't know what type of spider mine was. If it was a tarantula, it would have some offensive capabilities.
I looked at my spider, which was clearly not a tarantula, making me feel a bit disappointed. However, I soon identified it as a black widow. I was happier now, as it had potent poison and could be considered somewhat offensive.
My friend came near and saw my symbiote before quickly returning to his seat.
"I am happy to see students with high potential in my class. Since you contracted your symbiotes, you will undergo transformation in five hours. So be prepared," our teacher said before leaving. Everyone else left except for me and Kira. He looked at me and said:
"I told you to accept my offer. Look what you got!"
I smiled and replied, "I don't regret my decision. My spider is pretty useful, though. I can use it to support you when you're fighting."
"What academy are you going to apply for?" he asked.
"I don't know. I haven't decided yet," I replied.
"Let's apply for Monster Academy," he proposed.
"Why not? Let's apply for it!"
It was considered one of the best academies in the world and was located in the capital of Silve Country. Country Silve was one of the best countries in the world.
"Let's go and prepare for our transformation," I said.
He nodded, and we left the school together.
