Chapter 514 - Nordic Wizarding World

Blood purity is held as the highest honor within the Society, and the local Ministry of Magic tends to turn a blind eye to these actions since many within the Ministry share similar pure-blood supremacy beliefs.

Besides Muggle-borns, the Pure Land Society also targets mixed-blood wizards with significant Muggle heritage, as we'll as any wizards or magical creatures who show friendliness toward Muggles.

The Silver Wand, whom Alex had asked about, fell into this category.

When the silver wand first arrived, many of their members and partners were Muggle-born wizards.

Moreover, they were involved in poaching and smuggling native magical creatures, which angered the Pure Land Society even more.

As a result, the Pure Land Society launched a focused campaign against the silver wand, reportedly killing several of their members.

Now, the silver wand are struggling to survive locally and are, for all intents and purposes, effectively defunct.

After Karkaroff gave Alex this overview of the wizarding structure in Northern Europe and the nature of the Pure Land Society, Alex nodded in understanding.

While the German Ministry of Magic seemed increasingly divided, the Nordic countries' Ministry was leaning toward unity, a stark contrast.

Likewise, the Pure Land Society in Northern Europe, although harsh, was still distinct from the Death Eaters in Britain.

In Britain, the Death Eaters are outright terrorists, but the Pure Land Society in Northern Europe operates more like a family-run crime syndicate.

They use extreme tactics to strike at their enemies, yet they also keep some order in local communities.

The Ministry of Magic there acts almost like a government controlled by this underworld network.

So, it's no surprise that Augurey was so disgusted when she learned about her previous assignment.

In Northern Europe, she couldn't even rely on the Ministry's power, it

was like being beaten down with no way to call for help.

Alex gathered everyone together and asked,

"What about the professor and student I mentioned? How are they doing?"

He hadn't forgotten Diricawl's little sister and Azalea.

"You mean Asia Donnelly and Anais Rolle, the potions teachers at Durmstrang?" Karkaroff replied.

He wasn't sure why Alex wanted detailed information on them, but completed the task faithfully.

"Asia joined Durmstrang a few years ago, about two years after I did. She's skilled with potions, but very low-key and keeps to herself. I get the feeling she's hiding something, but since we rarely cross paths, I haven't had much contact with her."

"As for Anais Rolle, she's a third-year student at Durmstrang and one of my pupils. She doesn't seem very healthy, always looks a bit sickly. She and Asia are close, like they knew each other before coming to school, and Asia takes good care of her."

"Has Asia shown any recent changes?" Alex asked softly, sipping his cold butterbeer.

"We'll, lately she's often gone back and forth between school, claiming she's buying potion ingredients. But she's been staying at school without issue for the past couple of days," Karkaroff recalled.

Alex nodded.

It sounded like Augurey was almost ready.

He had contacted her two days earlier, and she said the first transport mission would start in two or three days.

"You did we'll," Alex said with approval.

Then, he pulled a heavy leather bag from his side and pushed it toward Karkaroff.

When Karkaroff heard the soft thud of the leather bag hitting the wooden table and the faint clinking of metal inside as it was pushed forward, he immediately guessed there must be a large sum of money inside.

"Master, the funds you gave me earlier haven't been spent yet. Thanks to your support, my cousin was able to secure his position as the school director, and I'm proud to serve as the vice-principal myself. So, what would you have me do now?"

Karkaroff swallowed nervously as he glanced at the leather bag in front of him, but quickly composed himself and respectfully asked Alex for instructions.

"There are 3,000 Galleons inside. Take it," Alex said firmly.

"This money isn't meant for bribing the school director or principal. I want you to help me with something else. Use it to find a good location and buy a plot of land in the main wizarding district in Northern Europe. I'm planning to open a branch there, and you'll be my agent. Don't worry, the profits will be we'll worth your efforts."

"Master..."

Hearing Alex bring this up again, Karkaroff's expression suddenly turned bitter.

In truth, Alex had asked him to do this before, but he had pushed the idea aside.

Now it felt like the grown-up was practically shoving money in his face.

When Alex brought up the topic again, Karkaroff's expression turned sour.

He had been avoiding this conversation for a while now, hoping the matter would just go away, but here it was again.

Alex noticed his hesitation and said,

"I get why you're worried. You're scared those Death Eaters will come after you, right?"

Karkaroff looked like a frightened child, and Alex couldn't help but roll his eyes.

"They're just a bunch of lost dogs. Do you really need to be that scared?"

'Lost dogs?'

Karkaroff thought bitterly to himself, as if he wasn't a lost dog himself.

"Master Wilson, you know my situation," Karkaroff replied, forcing a weak smile.

"Sure, I might be the vice-principal of Durmstrang now, but if I ran into those Death Eaters, I'd be dead for sure."

Alex nodded thoughtfully.

"Who are the main Death Eaters active in Northern Europe right now? Yaxley, maybe?"

He remembered his old classmate Rory Yaxley and his brother, who was exiled in Europe as a Death Eater.

"Yeah," Karkaroff replied.

"Besides him, there's the Carlo siblings and about seven or eight others who stick together. They're all pure-bloods, so they're not afraid of the Pure Land Society up here. They usually roam around the gray areas of the Nordic wizarding world, not enough to take over, but enough to have a solid foothold."

Hearing those familiar names made Karkaroff sigh deeply.

He kept tabs on them, even though he was too scared to confront them directly.

"You don't have to worry about these guys anymore," Alex said with a smirk, noticing Karkaroff's gloomy look.

"I'm here in Northern Europe to handle them all. Your job is just to take care of this one thing for me."

"Handle them all?"

Karkaroff's eyes widened in terror.

"You mean...?"
