Chapter 332 - Chapter 332: Overcoming Acrophobia

According to his ancestor's diary, Jirachi resides at the highest mountain peak. Link gazed with excitement towards the distant summit.

The duo mounted their flying Pokemon and soared towards the pinnacle. As they approached, thoughts raced through Link's mind at the prospect of encountering the legendary Pokemon soon.

He pondered what wishes he should make - knowing that Jirachi grants three wishes: one for Lester, leaving him with two opportunities.

Link had no grand ambitions; his dream was simply to become the strongest Coordinator. Thus, his first wish would undoubtedly be to achieve this goal.

Deciding on the second wish proved more challenging. Becoming the strongest Coordinator meant effortlessly winning Grand Festivals and becoming the new heir of the Lin family, as per their tradition.

Money wouldn't be an issue once he became the head of the Lin family; they were among Sebas' wealthiest clans, possessing vast wealth.

Power also wouldn't be scarce after assuming leadership, although it couldn't match the authority of the Pokemon League. However, Link's ambitions were modest, aiming merely to lead his family sufficed.

As for beauty or fame, Link showed little interest. Extreme desires like ruling or destroying the world never crossed his mind, considering them foolish pursuits.

"I want to possess Meloetta, the Legendary Pokemon with the most beautiful song - yes." A sudden realization struck Link as she recalled the tales of the enchanting Meloetta.

As a Coordinator, her greatest aspiration was to own the most exquisite Legendary Pokemon, and naturally, Meloetta, renowned for its mesmerizing melody, became her top choice.

With a Meloetta by her side, Link felt confident that she could lead the Lin family to new heights, becoming the foremost Coordinator in the Sebas Region.

While deep in thought, they reached the mountain peak and descended onto the ground.

To their surprise, instead of finding Jirachi, the summit was barren, devoid of any presence or indication of the mythical Pokemon.

Undeterred, Link and Lester began searching meticulously. The towering peak was vast, making the task exhausting, but driven by their desire for Jirachi, they combed through every inch of the mountain.

"Phew!"

"How can it not be here?" Link couldn't comprehend; the diary clearly stated the highest peak in the eastern mountain range, which undoubtedly matched this summit. Why wouldn't Jirachi be present?

"Are you sure there's no mistake? The diary records events from a thousand years ago. What if the current highest peak isn't the same as back then? Besides, how could a diary survive for a millennium? Could it be fake?" Lester expressed his doubts. Initially, seeing Link's unwavering confidence, he had gone along thinking there was nothing to lose by trying.

Now, Lester was beginning to doubt its authenticity, suspecting that the diary might be entirely fabricated.

"The diary is not mistaken; you can trust me on this point," Link reassured him. "You're right, the highest peak could have changed over a millennium. However, with such vastness in the eastern mountain range, how do we even begin searching?" Link appeared somewhat troubled.

The diary couldn't be fake, as it had been transcribed generation after generation by their ancestors. The original version had long since decayed and disappeared, but subsequent copies were lost until he serendipitously found one.

The most frustrating aspect now was the uncertainty of Jirachi's sleeping location, akin to standing before a treasure trove yet unable to access it.

"It's too late to gather more data and confirm changes in the eastern mountain range's terrain. We must simply start searching. Although the highest peak may no longer hold that title, it won't be significantly lower either. By systematically eliminating peaks from the tallest downwards, we will surely find Jirachi," Link stated firmly. He knew he had to locate Jirachi, for missing this chance would mean waiting another thousand years.

By then, Link himself would have already returned to nature, unable to make any wishes himself. Why should he reveal Jirachi's exact awakening time to his descendants millennia later?

Following this decision, Link and Lester embarked on a thorough search, starting from the current highest peak, meticulously combing through the mountainside to locate the slumbering Jirachi.

Meanwhile, Kalia and Linden continued their journey towards the end of the eastern mountain range. They traversed peaks and valleys, resting when tired and eating their provisions when hungry.

Overall, this mountain adventure proved highly meaningful, providing both with immense enjoyment and valuable experience.

"Kalia, I want to try overcoming my fear of heights," Linden declared resolutely. He was determined to confront his phobia, recognizing that the key lay not just in the outcome but in the process and the strength of his resolve.

Once someone musters the determination to overcome one challenge, they're more likely to face others head-on. Even if unsuccessful initially, persistence eventually leads to triumph.

"Great! Since you've made up your mind, let's take a break and devise a plan." Kalia responded, clearly pleased.

After some time...

At the summit of a mountain peak, Kalia and Linden stood together, while Lian vigorously shook his head nearby. To his surprise, Kalia suggested that Linden sit on him, which he could not allow.

Only Kalia could sit on Lian, while others didn't even dare to dream of it. As a Charizard with human dignity and soul, he wouldn't allow just anyone that privilege.

Imagine allowing strangers, aside from close acquaintances, to perch on your back? Clearly, it's highly unlikely.

"If Charizard doesn't agree, what should we do?" Kalia seemed troubled. Her initial plan involved having Charizard take Linden for a flight around the sky, followed by brief rests before repeating the process multiple times...

Gradually, through repeated exposure, the fear of heights would diminish naturally. This was considered the best method to overcome acrophobia.

"Is there any other way?" Linden understood that owned Pokemon typically don't let strangers interact with them, feeling equally helpless.

Just then, growing impatient, Lian took off flying and extended his claws, grabbing both of Linden's arms.

Caught off guard, Linden suddenly felt unbalanced as he looked up and realized the Charizard was lifting him into the sky.

"Ahh!"

As Linden realized what was happening, his heart skipped a beat as he soared higher and higher, fully aware of being carried by the Charizard.

His face turned pale instantly, feeling disoriented, with fear spreading like a spider web within him.

Overwhelmed with terror, Linden nearly cried out for his mother. In a momentary daze, he suddenly found himself back on solid ground.

"Ugh!" Linden retched, his complexion frighteningly pallid, collapsing onto the ground weakly, gasping for breath.

It happened too abruptly, completely catching him off guard.

After a brief moment, Linden regained some composure, surprisingly without any anger. Perhaps it was due to the swift sequence of events; his consciousness had blurred midway, only to find himself back on the ground in the blink of an eye.

Strangely, he felt a slight thrill amidst the ordeal.

"Linden, are you okay?" Kalia rushed over, visibly shaken herself by Linden's blood-curdling scream, reminiscent of a pig being slaughtered.

"I'm fine." Linden shook his head, recovering slightly.
