"Making a living is one thing, protecting your health is another." Jiang Xiaobai lay down on the bedding, which still carried the scent of shampoo and body wash from Xiaoqian.
"I'll turn off the light now."
Xiaoqian propped herself up and turned off the switch, plunging the room back into darkness.
"Jiang Xiaobai, what did you do before?"
Xiaoqian couldn't sleep; the pain in her joints couldn't be relieved by just a hot water bottle.
"Me? I wandered and called Four Seas home."
Jiang Xiaobai didn't tell the truth, though wandering did describe his past.
"If you don't want to say, I won't ask more," Xiaoqian said. "I can tell there's something unique about you."
Jiang Xiaobai replied, "You think everyone is unique. Let me tell you, if you keep talking like this, I'll think you're into me. Don't get any ideas; I'm not that kind of guy."
"Get lost!"
A pillow flew down and hit Jiang Xiaobai square on the face.
