Chapter 91 - Space Paradox - Crystal Cave - Water falls

The group pressed onward, leaving Snowdin behind as the frosty landscape gave way to the damp, shadowy expanse of Waterfall. The air grew humid, and the soft trickle of water echoed around them. Bioluminescent plants lined the path, their soft blue glow casting faint light on the rocky terrain. Drops of water dripped from the cavern ceiling, and the ground beneath their feet became uneven and slick.

Velthara, walking at the front, glanced around.

Velthara: "This place is... different. Quiet. But there's something unsettling about it."

Zalthirion studied the glowing flora, his hands brushing against the strange blue petals.

Zalthirion: "It's peaceful, but the energy here feels... strange. Almost like it's alive."

Elyssara frowned, stepping closer to the others.

Elyssara: "Stay on guard. If Snowdin was filled with monsters trying to stop us, I doubt this place will be any different."

The Echo Flowers

As they continued, they stumbled upon clusters of blue flowers lining the path. When they walked past, faint whispers echoed from the flowers, repeating phrases spoken long ago.

One flower whispered: "We should tell the humans we're here."

Another murmured: "But what if they attack us first?"

Kaeltherion paused, frowning at the flowers.

Kaeltherion: "What are these things? They sound like they're talking, but no one's around."

Lymtherion crouched beside one of the flowers, tapping it lightly.

Lymtherion: "They're just repeating what's been said before. Like... memories left behind. Weird, but kind of interesting."

Velthara: "We don't have time to play with flowers. Let's keep moving."

The Bridge

They reached a narrow wooden bridge stretching over a dark, seemingly endless pool of water. The wood creaked beneath their weight as they crossed, and the sound of their footsteps echoed ominously. Halfway across, a faint splash broke the silence, and they froze.

Elyssara whispered: "Something's down there..."

Before anyone could respond, a small, shadowy figure emerged on the other side of the bridge, blocking their path. It was Monster Kid, a young, excitable monster with no arms and an energetic grin.

Monster Kid: "Whoa! Are you guys... humans?! No way! Wait... no, you're not humans. You're way too cool-looking for that!"

The group exchanged confused glances, unsure how to respond.

Velthara: "We're not humans. What do you want?"

Monster Kid bounced on its feet, clearly unfazed by her tone.

Monster Kid: "Oh, nothing! I just wanted to see who was coming through Waterfall! You better watch out, though. Undyne is TOTALLY going to stop you! She's the coolest! You don't stand a chance against her!"

Kaeltherion stepped forward, his expression calm but firm.

Kaeltherion: "If she's in our way, we'll deal with her. Move aside."

Monster Kid hesitated, looking between them and the path ahead.

Monster Kid: "Well, okay... but I'll be watching! Undyne's gonna make sure you don't get past her!"

With that, Monster Kid dashed off, disappearing down the path.

Encounters Begin

As they continued through Waterfall, the serene atmosphere gave way to danger. They encountered a series of monsters native to the area: Aaron, the muscular seahorse-like creature, Woshua, a sentient cleaning monster, and Shyren, the shy siren who sang haunting melodies.

The group handled each encounter cautiously, choosing whether to fight or spare depending on the situation. When they spared a monster, it fled, leaving behind gold or small items. When they fought, the battles ended quickly, their combined strength overwhelming most opponents.

The Shadow of Undyne

At one point, they entered a narrow corridor where the light dimmed significantly. The sound of their footsteps seemed to echo louder than before, and an oppressive tension filled the air.

Suddenly, a spear struck the ground in front of them, barely missing Kaeltherion. They froze as the shadow of a tall, armored figure appeared at the far end of the corridor.

Undyne, the Captain of the Royal Guard, stood with her glowing red eye glaring at them. Her spear was raised, her stance unyielding.

Undyne: "So. You're the ones causing all this commotion. I don't know what you are, but I won't let you get past me. Prepare yourselves!"

Before they could react, she hurled another spear, and the group scattered. The fight had begun.

The wooden bridge stretched out endlessly as the group sprinted, Undyne's spears raining down from above like a relentless storm. The sound of splintering wood and the sharp hiss of projectiles cutting through the air filled their ears as they pushed forward, dodging each strike.

The Chase

Kaeltherion: "Don't stop! Keep moving!"

Velthara: "I don't think she plans on letting us go! She's relentless!"

Zalthirion, glancing back: "She's toying with us. Her aim is too precise for these to be random shots."

A spear struck inches away from Lymtherion, nearly grazing him as the bridge creaked and swayed violently.

Elyssara: "Focus! We need to find the exit before she—"

A thunderous crash interrupted her as one of Undyne's spears hit the bridge behind them, splitting the wood and sending splinters flying.

Dead End

The group reached the end of the bridge, only to find a sheer drop ahead and no way forward. They stopped, panting, and turned to see Undyne standing at the other end of the bridge, her imposing silhouette backlit by the faint glow of Waterfall's luminescent flora.

Undyne: "End of the line! You've made it far, but this is where your journey ends. No one escapes me!"

She raised her spear, glowing with a brilliant blue light, and hurled it with all her strength. The spear struck the center of the bridge, causing the entire structure to shake violently.

Velthara: "She's going to bring the whole thing down!"

Kaeltherion, growling: "Everyone, hold on—"

Before he could finish, the bridge gave way, the wood splintering beneath their feet. The group plummeted into the abyss below, the sound of rushing wind and splashing water swallowing their cries.

The Garbage Collector

The fall ended with a surprisingly soft landing on a bed of yellow flowers. The group groaned as they got to their feet, brushing off water and bits of debris. Around them, the room was dimly lit, the walls made of damp stone, and the ground cluttered with piles of discarded objects—broken weapons, tattered clothes, rusted machinery.

Elyssara, looking around: "What... is this place?"

Zalthirion, examining a pile of junk: "A garbage dump? But why is it filled with water?"

Before they could explore further, a faint chuckling echoed through the chamber.

???: "Foolish... FOOLISH!"

The group turned sharply as a battered dummy slid forward from the shadows, its stitched grin twisted unnaturally. The air around it seemed to shimmer, and faint wisps of ghostly energy emanated from its form.

Mad Dummy: "You think you can just FALL in here and treat this place like it's your OWN?! Ha! I'll teach you a lesson you'll NEVER forget!"

The dummy's eyes glowed with malevolent energy as it hovered above the ground, its form jerking erratically. A faint, ghostly silhouette could be seen within it, its laughter growing louder.

Velthara: "This thing... It's alive?"

Kaeltherion, stepping forward: "Or possessed. Either way, it's hostile. Stay sharp."

The Battle with Mad Dummy

The Mad Dummy's attacks began almost immediately, sending streams of small, glowing projectiles that ricocheted off the walls. The group scrambled to avoid them, realizing the attacks were unpredictable and erratic.

Elyssara, dodging narrowly: "It's using the environment! The projectiles bounce back!"

Zalthirion: "Then we use that to our advantage. Aim for it indirectly!"

They worked together, positioning themselves to redirect the dummy's attacks back at it. Each successful hit caused the Mad Dummy to jerk violently, its laughter turning into frustrated shouts.

Mad Dummy: "Hey! STOP hitting me with MY OWN attacks! That's cheating!"

The group's coordinated efforts began to take a toll on the dummy, its form flickering and unstable.

The Dummy's Collapse

After a final barrage of redirected attacks, the Mad Dummy let out a furious scream, its ghostly form separating from the shredded remains of the dummy.

Mad Dummy: "You... you... ARGH! I'll be back! You haven't seen the LAST of me!"

The ghost shot upward, vanishing through the ceiling. The torn dummy fell to the ground, lifeless.

Lymtherion, exhaling: "What even was that thing?"

Velthara: "A waste of time. Let's keep moving before something else shows up."

With the battle over, the group pressed on, navigating through the garbage-strewn chamber in search of a way forward. The faint glow of another pathway in the distance gave them hope that the surface—or at least answers—might be closer than they thought.
