Chapter 466 - Dark Tide

"Rai... Raikou?" "Raikou, one of the three Legendary Beasts?" The entire audience stared at the mighty and imposing figure with fascination.

"Rai... Raikou?"

"Raikou, one of the three Legendary Beasts?"

The entire audience stared at the mighty and imposing figure with fascination.

When had Champion Magnus tamed the legendary Pokemon known as one of the Three Legendary Beasts?

Nobody had heard of this before!

"Damn it, I said there was a reason why his trump card Blastoise came out third instead of last today!"

"I take back what I said earlier, John, if you want to become Champion, you'll have to wait a few more years."

"Ten-year fan of Champion Magnus reporting for duty!"

"Let's go! Magnus, you're the best!"

"Hey, hey, so what if it's Raikou? Zeraora is also a legendary Pokemon. This is a battle between legendaries, the fight's not over yet!"

" It not a Legendary pokemonit's a Mythical!"

"Who cares???!!!"

"You wanna start a figth or something?"

'I'mma crush you with my Bidoof!!"

Raikou's appearance caused absolute pandemonium.

At the very least, many of Magnus's fans went from despair to rekindled hope!

Could this be the wonderful plot twist of a 1v4 comeback?

"Where did Magnus tame a legendary Pokemon?" Victor's eyes nearly bulged out. "Is it impossible to become Champion without a legendary Pokemon these days?"

Riley and Damian remained silent, watching Zeraora and Raikou on the battlefield while both having the same thought: where could they find their own legendary Pokemon?

The power of legendary Pokemon was truly irresistible!

"Raikou?" John looked at the sabertooth inspired pokemonin the center of the battlefield.

Fierce was most certainly powerful.

However, he personally preferred Entei.

As for Suicune... John would think it was pretty cool if it didn't have that embarrassing anime history of being caught with a net. But damn, even he wouldn't dare write a novel like that!

Wait, Kyogre getting caught with a fishing rod and Suicune getting caught in a net didn't seem that hard to swallow in comparison.

"Ora!" Zeraora looked at Raikou with excitement.

A fellow Electric-type opponent, and a legendary Pokemon at that, this was simply the most suitable rival imaginable!

"Zeraora, it's time to switch out," John reminded gently. He didn't want to dampen Zeraora's enthusiasm, but at the start of this battle, he'd already promised another Pokemon its chance to shine.

"Ora!" Zeraora replied reluctantly.

John shrugged helplessly. There was no other choice, who knew Magnus would save Raikou for the finale? If he'd known, he would have saved Zeraora for last too.

Zeraora had a clear advantage against Raikou.

Zeraora's Volt Absorb ability made it the ultimate counter to Electric-type Pokemon. However, Raikou lacked any immunity to Electric-type moves like Volt Absorb.

Against Zeraora, Raikou's combat effectiveness would be reduced by at least half.

"If this one loses, how about I send you back in?" John offered comfort with what seemed like an impossible scenario.

But Zeraora thought differently.

Turning around and calling "Ora! (Good luck!)" to Raikou, Zeraora obediently returned to his Pokeball.

This left Raikou utterly confused.

(What?)

His opponent wished him luck before leaving?

While Raikou was still processing this bizarre sportsmanship, John sent out his fourth Pokemon.

ROAAAAAR!

The moment the Pokeball opened, a tremendous roar filled the entire arena.

A curtain of pitch-black water suddenly appeared in the battlefield sky, shattering in the blink of an eye.

BOOM!

Black rain fell across the sky as a massive beast with the same dark coloring spread its wings, looking down at Raikou from above. The sense of oppression was like a mountain suspended in mid-air.

"Lugia? This is Lugia!" Someone recognized the Pokemon John had just released, their voice breaking with excitement.

"Is that Lugia? No, why is it black?"

"Oh my God, black! It's Shiny again!"

"Huh?"

"Wait? Lugia is Shiny too?"

The audience was initially shocked, then fell into strange silence.

All eyes focused on John.

Another Shiny Pokemon. Another legendary/Mythical Pokemon. Another Shiny legendary Pokemon!

"Lugia, my beloved Lugia, AHHHHH!"

"John, you really deserve to... AHHHHHHHHH!"

Many trainers who regarded Lugia as their lifelong dream burst into tears on the spot.

Though the surrounding audience didn't cry, they completely understood their reactions.

It was like watching your longtime crush, someone you could only admire from afar, suddenly appear in a stunning black dress, only to throw herself into someone else's arms.

This was beyond painful.

If murder weren't illegal... well, if they could actually beat John in battle...

Then without doubt, John would have been challenged to death matches at least tens of thousands of times by now.

"Again!" In the Elite Four VIP room, Victor dropped his pipe without realizing it, his beard practically bristling with indignation.

Indeed, Victor also wanted to challenge John to a battle right now.

For the first time, Damian's calm expression showed emotion, a bitter smile.

His junior colleague was like a hamster in his past life, how could he hoard so much power?

Lugia was only being revealed now, and judging from the battle situation, this guy was purely showing off.

He'd thought he was just one grade below his junior colleague, and when fighting him, John had been holding back moderately.

Only now did he realize he and John existed in completely different worlds.

John hadn't held back an ocean, he'd held back an entire galaxy.

This was beyond unfair!

The same applied to his opponent, Magnus.

Every tier among legendary Pokemon represented an absolute gap in power!

There were also significant gaps between different legendary Pokemon.

Magnus stared at Shadow Lugia in astonishment.

The flames of war in his heart, his momentum for wanting a 1v4 comeback, felt like having a basin of cold water poured over his head.

1v4 comeback?

Like hell he could!

"Should I continue this battle? If I don't fight, he becomes Champion..."

If legendary Pokemon were divided into tiers, then Raikou was a third-tier legend, while Lugia was at least second-tier, possibly even a first-tier!

Raikou versus Lugia in single combat? There was no way to win.

The auditorium erupted in cheers that shook the mountains. "Holy crap!"

Some audience members awkwardly pulled out their phones, slowly turning around to photograph everyone's extremely shocked expressions.

Even the good-tempered Damian was now feeling jealous enough to want to challenge John face-to-face.

Just when Magnus was hesitating about whether to concede directly, he heard John's casual voice.

However, John himself seemed completely unaware of everyone's murderous gazes, thinking everyone was simply envious of him.
