Chapter 6 - [Chapter-6] One Small Pod, One Massive Problem!

Back in Queen's a small convoy of black SUVs arrived at the site of a massive impact crater within the heart of Forest Park.

SLAM...

A balding man in a black suit stepped out of one of the vehicles and looked around the woods before staring at the pit where a round pod lay.

"How... Odd! This is unlike any ship I have ever seen!"

The balding man reached inside his breast pocket and pulled out a phone with a distinctive eagle-shield logo and dialed the number named Director Fury.

"What's the situation, Coulson?" A calm and authoritative voice came from the phone, causing Phil Coulson to subconsciously stand straight as he listened.

"Director, we've confirmed the object is some kind of spacecraft. Circular design, unknown origin. The hatch is already open and preliminary scans suggest technology beyond anything in our databases." Phil reported all that he had observed while the surroundings were cordoned off from public use.

On the other side of the phone, a dark-skinned bald man narrowed his single eye. "Bring it back to headquarters and have it quarantined until we can determine if it has any surprises."

Phil put the phone back into his pocket and twisted his hand in the air to signal those around him to pack up the goods and deliver them back to base.

Outside the cordoned area on a high building that overlooked Forest Park, a bald man with a bullseye scar on his forehead had eyes sharper than even a hawk.

He watched as the agents loaded a large spherical object into a strange truck that, once loaded, began enclosing around the sphere until the truck appeared to be nothing more than a regular vehicle.

The truck along with the SUVs soon disappeared, leaving the scene with only a massive crater in their wake.

With a click of his tongue Bullseye reached for his phone while twirling an impressive looking blade in his other hand.

He texted a number that was appropriately named Boss.

Kingpin tapped his fingers in his desk so hard that he formed four distinct divots in the wood, he continued doing this until he heard the phone on his desk vibrate and the name Bullseye appeared on the screen.

His fingers stopped tapping and he reached out and picked up the device before reading the message.

"Tch... Is it the CIA? Or perhaps even SHIELD?"

He texted back.

Bullseye sent his knife shooting towards a pigeon as it began taking off, effectively pinning it into a brick wall where it wildly flapped its wings before the life finally left it.

He looked away and typed a response.

He put away his phone and turned towards a fire escape which he used to climb back down to street level, putting on a hat so that those who passed him by wouldn't stare at his distinctive scar.

Kingpin placed his phone gently back onto the desk and stood up from his seat and stared out the windows overlooking Hell's Kitchen, the place where he had made his underworld kingdom, a place even the police dreaded to enter and even if they did, only with his permission!

"Whoever you are, I will find you, and when I do I will make sure you watch while I tear those you love into pieces!"

His ruby-studded cane, made of a mysterious metal pressed so hard into the marble floor that cracks began to form.

Back at the Xavier institute for gifted youngsters Tavor finally woke to find himself in the warm embrace of an almost unnaturally beautiful woman with fiery red hair, his tail wrapped possessively around her arm.

"Oh? Are you awake?"

Tavor was about to reply but his stomach suddenly roared with the fury of a massive beast.

GRUUUUUUGGGGHHHH...

"Someone is hungry. Come on, let's go to the cafeteria and get some food. I'm hungry as well."

Jean Grey throws on a new shirt, not bothering to hide her feminine features from Tavor's innocent gaze before picking him up and leaving the room.

As Jean stepped outside she saw Scott talking with a few students, his head turned towards Jean and he smiled.

"Have a nice nap Jean?" As he said this he walked over to her and planted a soft kiss on her cheek.

"It was pretty nice, although my dreams were pretty weird though!" Her brows furrowed as she remembered dreaming of destruction and fire!" She paused for a moment, and unknowingly, a subtle flare of red-orange glow appeared deep within her eyes. "Anyways, the little one and I here were heading to the cafeteria. Want to join us?"

Scott gave Tavor a glance and remembered the large amount of food Tavor had consumed before even arriving at the mansion.

"I'll come, but I think we should order something. If we don't, there won't be any food left for the students!"

Jeans eyes widened upon hearing this. "Does he really eat that much?"

She turned towards Tavor. "But he is so small..."

Jean Grey carried Tavor into the cafeteria with Scott walking alongside them.

The spacious room was only half-filled at this hour.

A handful of students chatted over breakfast while others lazily picked at their food before heading off to classes.

Several heads turned as Jean entered carrying a small tailed child.

Curious whispers immediately began spreading throughout the room.

"Who's that?"

"Did Professor Xavier adopt a kid?"

"Why does he have a tail?"

"Is that a mutant?"

Jean ignored the growing curiosity and selected an empty table near one of the large windows.

She gently sat Tavor down in a chair before taking a seat beside him.

The little Saiyan immediately looked around with wide eyes.

There were people everywhere.

Some looked normal.

Others decidedly did not.

One student had bright blue skin.

Another possessed tiny horns.

A third appeared to be absentmindedly floating several inches above his chair while reading a book.

Tavor blinked.

"..."

Nobody seemed concerned.

Everyone acted as if this was perfectly normal.

Meanwhile Scott walked toward the kitchen area.

Several minutes later he returned pushing a wheeled serving cart.

The sight immediately caused nearby students to pause their conversations.

The serving platter resting atop the cart was enormous.

Boneless chicken occupied nearly half of it.

Mixed vegetables were piled neatly along one side.

The other half contained a mountain of burgers accompanied by enough steak fries to feed an entire family.

Jean stared.

Scott stared.

Several nearby students stared.

Even Tavor stared.

His eyes slowly widened.

The food mountain practically sparkled in his vision.

Scott carefully lowered the massive serving platter onto the table.

The instant it touched the surface, Tavor moved.

WHOOSH!

A tiny hand shot toward the nearest burger with frightening speed.

His fingers were mere inches away when...

SMACK!

Jean lightly slapped the back of his hand.

Tavor froze.

The tiny Saiyan slowly turned toward her.

Jean raised an eyebrow.

The universal expression of disappointed motherhood.

"No."

Tavor looked confused.

Jean reached over and grabbed a fork.

She placed it into his hand.

"You use this."

Tavor stared at the strange metal object.

Then at Jean.

Then back at the fork.

"...?"

Jean demonstrated by spearing a piece of chicken.

"Like this."

Tavor blinked.

He looked at the fork.

Then the food.

Then the fork.

Then the food.

A nearby student quietly pulled up a chair.

Another student followed.

Apparently this had become more entertaining than breakfast.

Scott rubbed his forehead.

"We're really doing this."

Jean ignored him.

"Come on."

Tavor hesitantly poked a french fry.

The fry launched off the fork and struck Scott directly in the forehead.

Pffft.

Several students burst into laughter.

Scott slowly removed the fry from his forehead.

"...Wonderful."

Jean bit her lip.

The corners of her mouth trembled.

Tavor looked surprisingly pleased with himself.

The second attempt went better.

The fry successfully reached his mouth.

His eyes widened.

Success.

A victorious expression appeared on his face.

Several nearby students actually applauded.

Tavor puffed out his chest proudly.

Then all lessons regarding table manners immediately vanished from his mind.

The tiny Saiyan attacked the mountain of food with terrifying efficiency.

Fork flashing.

Chicken disappearing.

Burgers vanishing.

Fries evaporating.

The sheer speed of consumption bordered on supernatural.

Students gradually stopped eating and simply watched.

One tray.

Gone.

A second tray arrived.

Gone.

A third tray appeared.

Also gone.

The cafeteria chef emerged from the kitchen and stared in disbelief.

"Where is he putting it?"

Scott pointed dramatically.

"THANK YOU!"

The chef looked vindicated.

"Someone finally understands my suffering!"

Jean stared at the steadily shrinking mountain of food.

Then at Tavor.

Then back at the food.

Then back at Tavor.

Her eye twitched.

"But... he's so small."

At that exact moment Tavor stuffed an entire burger into his mouth.

A second burger followed immediately after.

A third disappeared moments later.

The chef slowly sat down at a nearby table.

"I've fed Logan."

He pointed toward Tavor.

"But I've never seen anything like that!"

Several students nodded solemnly.

Meanwhile Tavor continued eating completely oblivious to the growing audience surrounding him.

As far as he was concerned, life was perfect.

There was food.

There was warmth.

And most importantly...

There appeared to be an endless supply of both.

The mountain of food before him continued to shrink at an alarming rate.

Chicken vanished.

Burgers disappeared.

Fries ceased to exist.

The gathered students watched in fascination as the tiny child somehow consumed enough food to feed several grown adults.

One student quietly began taking notes.

Another started a betting pool on how many trays he could finish.

A third simply looked horrified.

"Professor Xavier found a black hole disguised as a toddler."

Several students nodded in agreement.

Jean buried her face in her hands.

Scott looked toward the ceiling.

"Please don't encourage him."

Tavor happily continued eating.

A few minutes later he finally slowed down.

The last french fry disappeared.

The final piece of chicken vanished.

Then...

He let out a loud, satisfied burp.

BUUUURRRRP!

Silence filled the cafeteria.

Tavor placed both hands upon his swollen belly and leaned back in his chair.

A blissful expression spread across his face.

For the first time since arriving on Earth...

He felt full.

The sensation was strange.

Pleasant.

Safe.

His tail swayed lazily from side to side.

Across the cafeteria, Charles Xavier sat unnoticed in the doorway.

The professor watched the scene unfold with a small smile.

For the first time since arriving at the institute, the child looked truly at peace.
