Chapter 428 - The Fall of House Durangor (Part 11)

The scene of the night-shrouded rooftops of Seh Jenah blew past as several figures dashed through the city.

"Watch out!" Brody yelled, causing Equan to twist his body mid jump, turning and gritting his teeth as the tip of an arrow reflected that of another...

ZIP!

CRACK!

"Nice shot!" Luke gasped, grabbing Equan by the collar of his shirt just before he plunged into an alley bellow.

"There're still on us..." He grimaced.

At the same time: Hans lowered his head, rushing straight through a barricade of guards on the roof of Lennox's shop.

Several blades cut at the gaps between his armor, but the lowly soldiers of King Phillip were of no match for the unstoppable force.

Bodies flew into the air, as Gideon slid down the previous roof and turning to a sprint close behind The Panda.

The group crossed several more rooftops while simultaneously holding off three cloaked soldiers with unknown strength.

Equan stopped, setting his injured shoulder against a brick chimney and breathed heavily.

"How much further?" He asked, looking up at Kaylynn: Who's eyes flashed with a flicker of light.

Equan threw himself aside, nearly off of the roof as an explosion of wind ripped the chimney off of the rooftop.

Luke used his teeth to reload the both of his crossbows before opening fire on the two cloaked figures as he quickly backed towards the direction of the Coliseum.

"Watch out for the third!" Gideon yelled from a rooftop below them...

Suddenly... A flash of gray leather fell towards the sky in a blur...

His bow drew... His silver eyes glowing before the vast moon behind his elusive figure...

A rain of arrows fell upon Unity...

"As if..." A cocky voice muttered, followed by the sound of shackles crashing against concrete...

Before the group even knew what had happened... They were all standing in a circle on the edge of the final rooftop...

Gemini let out a gasp as his vision locked onto the sight before them.

"Jack... Is fighting... That?" Equan gulped, before looking down at his shaky hands.

Kaylynn grimaced, ignoring the urge to mock Equan for his cowardice...

That's when an unexpected voice called out... Drowning out the sight of Callahan's immense power... Holding up an entire comet above the city of Seh Jenah... All made of his own affinity...

"Actor..." Hans called out with a low tone...

"Yeah?" The archer responded, his eyebrow slowly raised as Hans' own eyes only watched the battle below...

"A mighty force is going to show themselves soon... And the fate of this battle's outcome... Lies in the hands of whoever has the strongest reinforcements..."

Luke felt a shiver run down his back at the sight of Hans' luminescent eyes... As well as the drool slowly seeping down from the corner of his helm...

But what they could not see...

Was the sinister grin lashed across Hans' face...

"But what does that have to do with me?" Equan slowly backed away... His eyes darting between the metallic comet and the savage beast before him.

"Because... I need you to lead the charge against the strongest Paladin in Seh Jenah... So that I can use your thunderous lightning as my decoy..."

...

Jack picked himself up from the rubble, using violent bursts of erratic flames in order to knock the boulders off of his body...

"Was it not completely obvious?" Callahan chuckled, his arms outstretched elegantly as his sad smile fell upon Jack's wavering figure.

Jack spat, snarling up at Callahan as his body began to build up heat once more...

"Foolish..." Callahan sighed.

Jack on the other hand, grit his teeth as a torrent of flames began to rage throughout his body and mind alike.

BOOM!

The entire side of the Northern wall of the crater erupted, as countless civilians above: Screamed in terror and ran for their lives.

A terrible ringing had entered Jack's ears, sending him into what could only be described... As a mindless trance...

He launched forward with a vicious eruption, grabbing at Callahan's face as he flew past, missing narrowly but lighting a fire upon The Steel Vanguard's silver hair...

With a roar, Jack stopped his ariel momentum with another devastating rage of flames,

Hovering in the air... With time around him coming to a stop.

He felt a strange vibration run through his muscles...

Jack looked up at the sky beyond the comet...

That is when something clicked at the center of the engulfing war within Jack's mind...

An ember glow sufficed in front of him, inviting his hand to outstretch towards it with an open palm...

A shape took its form, molding and forging into that of Jack's aspirations...

At first... It was naught but a single spark that had pleaded constantly for the ignition that it so desired...

However, in the endless possibilities that Jack could see before him...

There was only one thing that could give him the edge in this fight...

But in order to obtain that...

Jack's face lit up with flames as a demonic grin devoured the very flames that his own skin spat out.

With an unreal burst of determination...

Whistling beams of condensed crimson fire shot from his hands, repulsing him towards that of Callahan's god-like figure.

A wall of metal appeared between the two of them, along with an unsatisfied scoff, that was met with the laugh of Rayan of House Mayhem.

SLASH!

Callahan blasted thirty meters away as a hideous violet energy began to rip apart the wound.

He growled...

"So I see..." His bitter scowl quickly turned into that of elation and euphoria as his form grew closer.

 CLANG!

Rayan and Callahan met blades, clashing with might as Jack quickly circled around with violent blasts of condensed flames as his method of movement.

The two berated the general of Seh Jenah with a multitude of powerful combinations of their strongest attacks, using a mix of close range shots of pure fire while Rayan would hold off Callahan's blade...

Which worked well.

Until...

Jack never seen what happened...

Neither did Rayan, but he sure would feel it when he woke up... If he woke up...

Jack landed with a painful roll, having to use his hand as a way to drag himself to a stop.

He looked up.

And dread instilled in his veins...

With the swipe of his bloody sword, The Vex of Seh Jenah had fallen like a star...
