Entry six carried a location line under the three pages of recorded form, which Jia found at the fifth hour of the morning. The pages had been transcribed into a machine index at the northern range, in a building the register called the form hall rather than a lab.
"They did not steal a sword," she said, with both hands flat on the bench, "they stole the thing my mother made with it, then filed it under a building number."
Vell had the Directorate transfer schedule open beside her on Luna's relay by then. The Directorate had begun clearing the northern range four hours after the annexe break, which meant the form hall would be empty of equipment before the evening.
"Two hours," Luna said, "the freight order lists a training engine, four technicians, plus a Directorate escort that has not arrived yet."
