Chapter 204 - Chapter 204: Wishful Thinking

Su Li hadn't seen Jun Mo for several days, something that had never happened since their engagement.

"Mo Yun."

"Young Mistress." Mo Yun appeared.

"Do you know what Jun Mo has been busy with recently?" Su Li asked.

The Emperor's disappearance was a matter of extreme gravity, but the Young Mistress should be able to know, shouldn't she?

Mo Yun stepped closer and whispered into Su Li's ear for a moment.

Su Li's beautiful eyes widened slightly, her expression one of shock.

How dare Jun Hui!

Could it be that her father had pushed him too hard in court recently?

Otherwise, he wouldn't have been driven to such desperate measures.

Su Li felt a pang of anger. Such a huge matter, and Jun Mo was searching blindly like a headless fly all by himself. How long would that take?

"Mo Yun, tell Jun Mo to come here. I need to speak with him."

"Yes!" Mo Yun vanished from the room in a flash.

Su Li looked out the window, her lips curving slightly.

Jun Hui, this is what you brought upon yourself. This time, no one will take the blame for you!

In her previous life, there had been no forced abdication. Yet, in this life, he had actually gone down this path.

With his cautious nature, she had been racking her brains trying to find a handle on him, but who knew, just when she needed it, he conveniently handed her the opportunity.

Kidnapping the Emperor and forcing him to write an abdication decree. No further evidence was needed. As long as he was found, this world would no longer have such a person!

Mo Yun's actions were swift. In less than two quarters of an hour, Jun Mo appeared in her room.

"Li'er, you were looking for me?"

Su Li looked at him, her heart originally holding some anger. Although she knew the Emperor's disappearance was a grave and confidential matter, understanding was one thing, but her heart still felt a little displeased.

However, upon seeing the dark circles under his eyes, that slight awkwardness in her heart vanished.

"Have you been very busy these past few days?" Su Li asked.

Jun Mo nodded, walked forward, and embraced her. Su Li struggled slightly.

"Li'er, let me hold you for a bit." His voice was weary.

Su Li felt a pang of heartache. To be fair, if it were her own father who had gone missing, she would certainly be more anxious than he was.

Su Li leaned into his embrace and said, "I already know what happened at Protector Nation Temple. Why are you bearing it all alone? Didn't we agree there would be no secrets between us?"

Though her heart ached, what needed to be clarified still had to be said. Otherwise, in the future, this man would just shoulder everything by himself.

Jun Mo's muffled voice came, "I know Li'er is very intelligent, but the danger of this matter is far greater than before. This is Jun Hui's last desperate gamble, and I don't want to put you in harm's way."

Hearing him say this, Su Li's heart warmed. So, he wasn't afraid of a leak, which was why he hadn't told her.

"Silly, I'm not going out to search, so where would the danger come from? I asked you to come, not to blame you for hiding things from me. I just wanted to tell you that perhaps I know where Jun Hui is."

Jun Mo pulled her out of his embrace, looking at her excitedly.

"Li'er knows?"

Su Li nodded and said, "Jun Hui's businesses are almost all gone, and you've probably searched all his known manors as well."

Jun Mo nodded, "That's right, but not a single person was found."

Su Li continued, "There are two other places you definitely haven't searched. These two places are also ones I didn't tell you about before, because they are the most secret."

If she had mentioned them back then, Jun Mo would have investigated long ago, and Jun Hui certainly wouldn't have hidden there after committing his crime.

These two places were actually escape routes Su Li had deliberately left for Jun Hui.

He thought they were safe, but he didn't know he had become a turtle in a jar.

"Where are they?"

"There's a secret chamber beneath the dilapidated temple in the west of the city, with a passage behind the Buddha statue. The other is Ten-Mile Slope outside the city, where people rarely go."

Jun Mo's eyes lit up.

"Li'er, thankfully I have you. I'll take people there right away!"

Su Li cautioned, "Be careful, Jun Hui still has quite a few capable people around him."

"Don't worry, await my good news."

"Imperial Father, have you made up your mind today?" Jun Hui asked leisurely from the table.

The Emperor sat in a chair nearby, his eyes lowered.

This person was already hopelessly sick, beyond saving. He was too lazy to waste words cursing him, as it would only provoke him.

He would simply stall, dragging it out for one more day, he believed the Crown Prince and the Seventh Prince would surely find him.

Who knew that Jun Hui today no longer wanted to delay.

He suddenly stood up, walked over to the Emperor, and said coldly, "Imperial Father, I advise you not to struggle anymore. No one will find you here. Didn't you say you are very fair? I am also your son. If you pass the throne to me, you will still be the supreme Emperor Emeritus. What's wrong with that?"

The Emperor glared at him with cold eyes, not speaking, not moving.

If the throne were truly passed to this man with a human face and a beast's heart, would he and the Empress still be alive? The Crown Prince and the Seventh Prince would probably also find it hard to escape misfortune.

He would rather die than let the throne fall into his hands!

Seeing that after so many days of persuasion, he remained unmoved, it seemed getting him to sign willingly was impossible.

"Imperial Father, since you refuse the toast and prefer the forfeit wine, then don't blame your son!"

"Guards!"

The Emperor's eyes flickered. It seemed Jun Hui's patience had run out.

The black-clad guards outside the door entered and saluted, "Master."

"Please have the Emperor Emeritus affix his handprint and private seal on it!"

"Yes!"

The Emperor was greatly alarmed and said coldly, "Even if you press a handprint, it's useless!"

Jun Hui sneered, "How is it useless? There's one situation where it is useful!"

The Emperor looked at his smile, a chill running through his body.

This was no human; this was clearly a devil!

There was indeed a situation where a signature wasn't needed, only a handprint was effective.

That situation was if he was completely paralyzed and unable to move, and unable to speak, then with the testimony of thirteen Grand Secretaries, a handprint could be counted as valid.

Jun Hui smiled gently, "I originally wanted to preserve a shred of father-son affection. After all, persuading those few Grand Secretaries would require some effort. But since Imperial Father is so uncooperative, then your son will just have to work a little harder and trouble those Grand Secretaries."

The Emperor gritted his teeth, glaring fiercely at him.

"Do it!"

"Presumptuous! How dare you!"

But the Emperor was drugged, and moreover, only received one meal a day. Where would he find the strength to resist?

Soon, his hand was seized and pressed onto the scroll, leaving a handprint.

Then, the two black-clad guards fumbled on his body and found his private seal.

The Emperor watched everything, helpless.

Jun Hui held the scroll, looking at the imprints, and burst into hearty laughter.

It was as if he could already see himself, dressed in dragon robes, ascending to the high seat, receiving the reverence of all people.

Then he put away the scroll and slowly approached the Emperor.

"Beast!" the Emperor cursed in a cold voice.

"Imperial Father, your son promised my imperial concubine mother to spare your life, and your son is a man of his word. In the future, you'll just be a stroke victim unable to speak; your life won't be taken. How about it? Isn't your son quite benevolent? Hahaha..."

At this moment, Jun Hui fully revealed his true nature, grinning menacingly as he raised his hand towards the Emperor.

The Emperor sat in his chair, with nowhere to evade.

That hand magnified infinitely in his eyes.

Just as he thought he couldn't resist and could only close his eyes and endure, the room door was slammed open from the outside by a powerful force, creating a huge crash.

Then, a purple figure flashed in, moving so fast it was merely a blur.

Sensing that powerful force rushing towards him, Jun Hui was greatly alarmed. He spun around, barely dodging the person's fist.

The Emperor opened his eyes upon hearing the sound, looking in pleasant surprise at the person shielding him.

"Seventh Prince!"
