Not that Kent chose to look down on his father, but he may have done so simply because of their shared past. In the past, Makkal Sage was a loser with no cultivation talent.
His family, long before he became a con artist, saw him as a loser and a useless nobody.
When he died during the Ice Era, he was barely at the True Immortal stage. So the idea that he was now a Primordial and even had the talent to create an organization strong enough that he was confident he could wipe out a clan that had been there since the Ice Era clearly took Kent aback.
