Before the shadow affinity, he had Flame and Lightning affinity. However, aside from the flame, he had made no plans to focus on the lightning.
Perhaps he hadn't had much opportunity with the lightning element. However, with the flame, he made so much progress.
Now, he had attained shadow affinity, which was perfect for his nature as the faceless assassin.
