The sound of gunshot tore through the yard like lightning.
At first there was silence among the garage crew, their eyes widened as they looked at Frank in dismay. But in contrast to what they had expected, Frank was fine. There was no sign of bullet wound on his body.
The crew were relieved, but before they could get the chance to celebrate... Liam suddenly felt a violent jerk beside him, a sharp gasp that wasn't his own. He looked down, his mind not yet comprehending, but his body already reacting.
His lips parted softly. "Caleb?"
The boy stood for a single moment, his eyes widened in confusion as a hole the size of a coin bloomed in his chest. Then, like a puppet whose strings had been cut, he crumpled.
Liam caught him by reflex, arms wrapping around the younger boy as he collapsed. His eyes widened in shock, his mind still trying to process what had just happened.
