She knew that Lady June was her biological mother, even if they hadn't actually discussed it at length, almost like neither of them saw a need to address it openly.
Which was all the more reason why Violet realized that she needed to know.
"It matters! I want to know!" she responded, her voice firm despite the tightness in her chest, realizing that knowing her current teacher was a serial murderer was necessary information.
"I need to know!" she added.
Lady June stopped moving. Then, slowly, she turned and began to move closer to Violet. Her black hair was glossy and long, falling smoothly down her back. Her features stood out sharply in a way that made her difficult to look away from, even as she stopped directly in front of Violet.
They were close now.
Close enough that Violet could clearly see the faint glint in Lady June's eyes as she began to speak.
