I woke up, sleep heavy and felt definitely one year older.
It was the kind of sleep where my body felt too heavy for the bed, where my mouth was dry, my head was thick and my limbs were lead. The kind of sleep that came after crying hard and then finally, finally holding Kolli again. I had not slept like that in months. Not since Berlin.
I had only spent two years away from my family on Christmas and my birthday, and that was when I was nineteen and twenty. They had been different but also fun in a way that Kolli and I made our own fun traditions.
