Chapter 186 - Chapter 186: Return to the Mortal Realm, Big Trouble for the Action Team

"If they make a move, you can send us a message, and the Underworld will do its best. You don't need to worry about being outnumbered."

Xie Bi'an's face broke into a smile upon receiving her affirmation. In his opinion, with this little one assisting in the mortal realm, they would have many more means to act. Now, they just needed to wait. Those Ghost Generals would eventually lose patience. Once they showed themselves, the Underworld could completely settle this score.

"Mm-hmm, Lord Impermanence, don't worry!"

Yaoyao replied in a sweet, childish voice. She wasn't foolish; with so many Ghost Generals and Malevolent Ghosts, even if she wasn't afraid, fighting them would exhaust her to death. Her master had said that if she could be lazy, she shouldn't try too hard, as the outcome wouldn't change anyway.

"Then let's go back. Although you have the Jade Token, you are still a living person, and it's not good to stay long in the Underworld."

Xie Bi'an had come today only for this matter. Now that it was resolved, he had no reason to stay.

"Mm-hmm, goodbye, Lord Impermanence."

Yaoyao was still thinking about the late-night snack her Seventh Brother had prepared. She stuffed the bamboo scroll into the small satchel she carried, waved her little hand at the figures, and then, taking small steps, zipped off towards the human world.

"You really did find a treasure. This little one's origin is strange, but her cultivation is terrifyingly high. With her helping in the mortal realm, many of the Underworld's future matters won't be so passive."

Fan Wujiu watched the small figure disappear into the distance before turning around. His gaze met his old friend's, and a rare hint of approval entered his tone. One must know that the latter's way of handling affairs was always unreliable, always causing a lot of trouble, forcing him to clean up the mess every time.

So, when he learned that his friend had found a little girl to be an Underworld Emissary, and that her authority even rivaled theirs, his mind was filled with only two words: "trouble." He feared this child would cause major chaos in the mortal realm. His reason for coming along this time was to test the waters, but he hadn't expected such an unexpected harvest.

However, Fan Wujiu's words made Xie Bi'an uncomfortable. The latter "tsk-ed" in annoyance.

"I say, Old Fan, it's been so many years, why haven't you changed your habit of judging people through a crack in the door?"

"What, can't I accomplish anything reliable? If it weren't for my idea, we wouldn't even have a clue now. Before, when you wrongly accused me, I put up with it."

"But this time, we definitely need to have a proper discussion."

Fan Wujiu glanced at the latter's incessant chattering mouth and walked away without looking back. He knew he couldn't argue with this old chatterbox. Even when he was in the wrong, he usually had to win by three points. Now that he was in the right, if he stayed, he would undoubtedly have to listen to an earful of grievances.

"Hey... why are you running... stay here for me."

Xie Bi'an had a belly full of words brewing, just about to speak, when he saw his old friend take off like a tornado, disappearing in a flash. This caused his previously excited expression to suddenly freeze. After realizing what had happened, he immediately understood the latter's intention and couldn't help but let out a cold snort.

"You won't get away today!"

A smile spread across Xie Bi'an's lips, and he chased after him without a second thought. The reason he was so relentless was simply because he hadn't been in the right more than a few times in thousands of years. Now that he had finally caught an opportunity, if he didn't get to feel vindicated, he would surely suffocate.

...

Yaoyao was unaware of the childish behavior of these two divine beings, whose combined ages far surpassed the history of Chinese civilization.

Upon returning to the mortal realm, she happily enjoyed the late-night snack her Seventh Brother had prepared. He even superstitiously used pomelo leaves to carefully cleanse her of bad luck. Yaoyao didn't stop him, letting Seventh Brother busy himself.

"By the way, Director Li called tonight. He said his film crew needs to be reorganized, and there's a role that suits me. He'll be back in the capital in a few days, and wants me to go for an audition."

"He also asked me to ask you, if you're free, to come along. He wants to thank you properly in person."

After bustling about, Gu Yu sat beside his sister. His hair was a bit long, so Yaoyao had tied a small braid for him. His shadow under the lamplight looked strangely cute.

Gu Yu clearly understood that Director Li Wenbin's sudden audition offer wasn't because his own popularity had recently risen, but because the director wanted to strengthen his relationship with his sister.

Perhaps once bitten, twice shy, Li Wenbin had spent a large sum of money after the live broadcast ended to thoroughly investigate the actors in his crew. The result was that if you don't investigate, nothing seems wrong, but once you investigate, no one is truly clean as paper.

Li Wenbin chose a few whose actions were more serious and fired them, which immediately created several vacancies for roles that needed to be filled in the entire crew. Among them, there truly was one that suited Gu Yu.

Coupled with his original intention to deepen his relationship with Yaoyao, this was undoubtedly a good excuse. After all, although the Grandmaster had agreed to help oversee things, some matters couldn't be settled just by agreeing.

Of course, if her brother was in the movie, her enthusiasm for helping later would definitely be different.

"Director Li's invitation isn't entirely pure, but I've read the script he sent, and I quite like it. I want to give it a try, and also ask for your opinion."

Gu Yu knew that speaking directly was better than beating around the bush, especially in front of his sister. As long as she wanted, it would be difficult to keep any secrets from her.

He had stated his case; as for whether she was willing to go, that was his sister's own will. He believed Director Li Wenbin wouldn't dare to object.

"Okay, okay, I want to go too! I want to see Seventh Brother act, hehe."

Yaoyao's beautiful big eyes lit up at his words. She had never seen her Seventh Brother perform before. She had no urgent matters at home and could completely free up her time. As for the latter's intention to win her over,

she didn't mind. She understood cause and effect. She helped him once, and he helped Seventh Brother once; it was merely an exchange of cause and effect, not exploitation or manipulation.

Gu Yu's expression softened as he stroked his sister's head. "This time, Seventh Brother is taking advantage of you. After the audition, we'll go have a few big meals to make it up to you."

This answer was no different from what he expected. Once Gu Yu got what he wanted, he immediately pulled out his trump card. Clearly, food had a far greater effect on his sister than any other superficial reward; hadn't her little face beamed with excitement when she heard "big meals"?

Yaoyao then confirmed the time with Seventh Brother: it was set for five days later. The time didn't clash. These few days in between would be just enough for her to contact the Special Action Team and make a trip to Changbai Mountain.

She needed to set up a sensory monitoring array there, and then have the Special Action Team patrol and monitor. This caution was to prevent those Ghost Generals from truly causing a major incident, which would then land her in great trouble.

However, she didn't know that the Special Action Team was currently shrouded in a thick cloud of gloom. This was because their members responsible for escorting evil cultivators had been detained by people from the Xuanmen.

The reason given was particularly absurd: they suspected the Special Action Team had deliberately used Xuanmen cultivators to impersonate evil cultivators, demanding proof that those arrested were indeed evil cultivators,

otherwise they would not release them. Furthermore, they threatened to charge them with the crime of indiscriminately killing Xuanmen cultivators!
