Starfire had put in a lot of work into planning and decorating for Halloween, even the costumes were ordered by her through the Tower's credit card, or more precisely, Bruce's support funds for the tower being utilized for a team bonding exercise—at least that's what it read it the account ledger she had filled. Raven, even in her past life, cared not for the planning of events or social outings that much, after all the last one made her end up in the body of a goth futanari—not that she's complaining but she would rather just make hot chocolate, adjust the heater, cosy up in her bedroom and watch Grey's Anatomy and end the night to cumming her brains out to futa content.
Raven wore a white lace evening gown with intricate floral lace that spread over the gown. A white fox fur stole lay heavy and cosy over her shoulders, its plush evincing effortless luxury, opera-length gloves cascaded up her forearms like pillars of ivory. A bored expression rested on the goths face, her pale face contrasting well with her black lipstick and eyeliner, she sighed to herself while as she observed the liveliness of the tower from her sit. Her lower body was covered by the tablecloth of the table before her. She could smell Kyla-el's baking from the kitchen, humming some countryside music. Without so much as trying she could see Damien changing into his demon lord outfit in his room from her position. Everything was feeling rather festive even though some in the tower only followed her rule because they didn't have the power to resist, they'd eventually come under her fold—except for the likes of the batfamily and some others. Still, she couldn't help this uncomfortable feeling inside her
Still, with the way Star had stolen her heart these past few months in her new life as Raven, she couldn't help but be there for her and at least enjoy the event. But something like her hair rising or the feeling that someone she wasn't aware of was about to touch her shoulders in the dark kept creeping up on her even as Starfire, in a slightly see through grey ghost costume that had no business hugging her thick, curvy muscular frame, leaned next to the table Raven sat across from, giving her a view of her ample bosom, prompting a rise in between Raven's thighs.
"Drink of this fermented grape, goddess of mine, I hear it offers calm to the nerves." The Tamaranean offered, sensing unease in her goddess. She will serve her goddess with all the she had to soothe whatever troubled her. Today was a good day, and she would see to it nothing ruins her preparations so far.
Starfire leaned in, arching her back as she did so, her bosom came into view. Raven couldn't help but be star struck seeing Starfire gracefully pour out wine into a glass for her while maintaining eye contact.
'Since when did she get so seductive and in control?' Raven smiled, and received the glass from her lover with a parting kiss followed by a hand gently caressing her shoulders. Their lips parted slowly, and a loose bridge of their mixed dna, a proof of their union, lingered only in moments before Starfire turned around slowly and left.
Her member pulsed to life, making an arc on her evening gown and struck against the table slightly causing her wine glass to wobble which elicited a giggle from the Tamaranean princess who was going through some Halloween decor.
Ever since ascending to godhood, feelings like bad vibes or the like weren't something to be taken lightly but something to be studied and prepared for. An example was the inevitable she had after ascending that she would have to face the old god that was sealed within her. For a while now, she had been feeling something akin to that ever since the she had settled down during the event in the tower. The first sign that something was wrong was that Raven heard a knock at the door.
Not because it was loud. It wasn't. In fact it didn't even register as something within the plane of physics like sound waves, it was more metaphysical.
Three soft taps sounded from the other side of the Titans Tower entrance, almost polite enough to belong to a delivery person who had arrived with flowers.
It was the silence afterward that caught her attention.
The music continued in the main hall. Beast Boy was arguing with Victor Stone about whether a werewolf costume counted if the wearer could actually turn into a wolf. Someone had started laughing near the refreshments table. Halloween lights flickered orange and purple across the windows.
Yet Raven could feel something waiting beyond the door. Her eyes narrowed as her divine senses probed what felt like it was there and wasn't at the same time.
Something without a heartbeat.
But something with faint emotional presence. As an empath, she cocluded that was why she could even sense even this since whatever was behind the door had a very faint presence that could escape her senses that already covered their galaxy cluster.
Raven slowly lowered her glass.
Across the room, Starfire noticed, but tried to play around it.
"Friend Raven?" she asked, smiling at first. "Have you discovered that the small cakes contain the ingredient known as pumpkin? Because I have already eaten three, and I would like to know whether I should prepare for a medical emergency."
Raven stared toward the entrance.
"Stay here."
Starfire's smile remained, but her eyes sharpened.
"Those are the words you use when you intend to investigate something dangerous without me."
It was almost chilling to hear the space princess speak clear English like that. "…It's a doorbell, Starfire."
"It is a doorbell that has caused your shoulders to become tense and your emotions to grow quiet. I believe I am permitted to be suspicious."
Raven gave her a sidelong look. She was sure she hid her intentions clearly, but it seems there was much she had to learn about her lover.
"You've been paying attention."
"I pay attention to many things."
The cheerful lilt in Starfire's voice remained unchanged. Anyone listening casually might have mistaken her for a curious alien who had learned the basics of human body language and was pleased to practice.
Raven knew better.
Starfire had learned far more than the basics. After all, apart from learning languages or even mannerisms sometimes by sharing a kiss, ever since Starfire ascended, everything about her became even more refined.
She could understand languages that had no spoken sounds, recognize a lie buried inside an elegant diplomatic statement, and follow a conversation in which every participant believed they were speaking a private code. Sometimes she chose her peculiar phrasing because it amused her. Sometimes she used it because people underestimated her.
And sometimes she used it because she wanted someone to underestimate her.
"Don't start anything while I'm gone," Raven said.
Starfire placed one hand against her chest.
"Friend Raven, I am wounded by your lack of faith in my peaceful nature."
