Chapter 11 - Brought wedding ring

Helena's POV

It has been two days since he proposed to me, more like manipulated me to marry him. That guy has no limits in life, maybe because he's a mafia boss or whatever, too arrogant for my liking.

Ever since then, I have been hoping Vincenzo would get drugged and die after saving my dad. My prayers will be answered.

But who am I kidding? A mafia boss can never be drugged or killed. I don't know why life never goes my way.

I remember my best friend Zoey. I hope she will be invited too. God, I have missed that girl so much. Maybe I can ask him to call her for me.

Vincenzo applied for a new maid because we'll be getting married in the next two days. The maid's name was Isabella. The two of us were able to become friends within these two days. She's almost like me, but the difference is that she was not forced to work as a maid.

Although I have been helping with housekeeping and helping Isabella around the mansion whenever he's not around. But Isabella doesn't like it when I work either. She's scared he would find out and punish her or fire her.

I couldn't bring myself to watch her work with the rest of the housekeepers, and I am only helping to take my mind off Vincenzo or our marriage.

I was sitting on the couch in our room reading my book when someone snatched it out of my hands, making me look up. I was met with the devil himself standing in front of me, staring at me with downcast eyes.

"Go get ready," he said coldly, throwing my book on the table. "We'll go to buy our wedding rings and your wedding gown. I'll be waiting for you downstairs." Without waiting for my answer, he walked out.

He was really pissing me off with the way he treated me. Honestly, I was not expecting him to respect me or be a decent person whenever he needed to talk to me or ask for help.

Sighing, I got up from the couch and went to the walk in closet before putting on my normal jeans and shirt. I left the room and went downstairs to him.

"I'm ready," I mumbled as I walked down, standing by his side.

"Why do you like to put on old clothes?" he asked, sounding mad.

"I d-don't understand," I stammered, looking down at my clothes, confused.

"What the fuck do you not understand?" he snapped, shaking his head. "I don't want my soon to be wife to look like trash."

Was he ashamed to be seen with me in public because of my clothes? Ouch, that hurt.

"I have nothing else to wear. All my clothes are the same," I told him calmly. I was barely able to save money because of my father's gambling addiction. There were days I begged for money to buy food on the street before I got that job at the restaurant. So he can't expect me to buy clothes.

"Are you ashamed to walk with me in public because of my clothes?" I asked.

"Why should I?" he asked back. "When I can buy you more when we get married." He told me, making me nod.

He intertwined our fingers before leading me out of the mansion to his car.

Matteo was the one driving us. He and Vincenzo were speaking in Italian, ignoring me completely.

I was brought out of my thoughts when Matteo called me. "Helena," he shouted, making me jump.

"What the fuck, Matteo," Vincenzo shouted back before speaking in Italian to him as if warning him.

"Sorry," Matteo mumbled to me.

"It's okay. Why did you call me?" I replied.

"I saw your mind was spaced out. I'm sorry once again," he said.

"It's okay," I told him honestly.

Matteo is a kind guy, and he's very playful, especially with Vincenzo. I don't know how Vincenzo keeps up with him. There was a time Vincenzo was snapping in a serious tone to someone on the phone. Do you know what Matteo did? He seriously laughed out loud and said Vincenzo looked like a lion that wanted to kill.

"We've arrived. You were lost in your thoughts. What happened?" Vincenzo asked.

"Nothing. I wasn't paying attention, that's why." I replied.

"Okay, let's go then." he said, taking my hand before we left the car.

Matteo wasn't the only one with us. More guards surrounded us.

We entered the first store, which was a jewelry store. We were greeted by a salesman.

"Good afternoon, Mr. Esposito. We were expecting you! We have prepared the engagement and wedding rings, and I'm sure you won't be disappointed by our range. Please have your seat, sir."

We sat on a couch. There was a round table in front of us. Matteo sat on my left while Vincenzo sat on my right.

"Don, can you buy me a ring too?" Matteo asked with a playful grin.

"Buy yourself one," Vincenzo snorted.

Matteo grunted, leaning back. "That doesn't mean you can't give me one as a gift. What do you say, Helena?" he said.

He's not serious, right? What would he use a ring for?

"So that I can marry him." he said, pointing at Vincenzo. Did I fucking say that out loud? Oh my God, what's wrong with me?

"I can't marry you, so go find yourself a puttana to buy a ring for." Vincenzo snapped.

"Oh, so you won't buy for me because I don't have a pussy and boobs?" Matteo asked, making me gasp.

"Yes, and because she'll be my wife in the next 48 hours. So shut your mouth if you don't want me to put my gun to it" Vincenzo said firmly.

The salesman came with the rings and placed them on a tray before us.

"Which one do you like, kitten?" Vincenzo asked.

All the rings were beautiful, but I had to pick one, so I chose the one with small diamonds and a gold color. I never thought I would wear such a ring in my life. It was mesmerizing, and it looked expensive.

"We'll buy these. And where is the engagement ring I asked for?" he said to the salesman.

"I'll go get it, sir," the salesman replied and left.

"A single ring is okay for me, Vincent," I said.

"Let him spend, or do you want him to buy one for me?" Matteo intervened again.

"Will you shut the fuck up, Matteo?" Vincenzo hissed.

The salesman returned with a small blue box and handed it to Vincenzo.

He opened the box, then looked at me as he took the ring and slipped it onto my finger.

"It looks good on you," Vincent said, pulling my face closer and kissing my temple, making me blush.

"Do you want anything else, sir, or will you check out?" the man asked.

"No, I'll pay now," he replied.

"The engagement ring costs three hundred thousand dollars, and the wedding rings cost seven hundred thousand dollars. In total, everything is one million dollars," the salesman informed us.

Vincenzo paid for everything. My jaw literally dropped when I heard the amount. It was too much for rings.

"Close your mouth, dear. Daddy has enough money to spend on you," Matteo teased, grinning.

My cheeks heated up. His comment was kind of embarrassing.
