"The remaining food is just some hard, dry bread, barely enough to stave off hunger."
The militia member nodded suddenly, with a hint of worry in his voice, "This won't do, your wife is in a critical period now and needs nutritional supplements."
He paused and said, "I heard that last night, Hod and Bran, who were on duty, encountered a starving and crazed wild wolf attacking the city."
"It was shot dead by the arrow tower before it even got close to the wall."
He lowered his voice and cautiously said, "Rumor has it they secretly hid the wolf's meat at their house..."
Vidal frowned, "What do you mean?"
The militia member leaned closer and whispered, "Don't get me wrong, I'm not planning to steal their food."
"I'm saying, if we encounter beasts today, perhaps we should do the same..."
"As long as no one else finds out, the City Lord won't punish us."
