For example, a Flood can wash away bridges, sandstorms can obscure vision, and meteors can destroy everything within their impact zone.
In addition, there are numerous resource nodes on the map that can be used to upgrade soldiers, improve the level of engineering buildings, or unlock technologies. For instance, consuming 10,000 resource points can enhance technology to draw one extra card per turn.
Each resource node is guarded by wild creatures, requiring both sides to strategically use their soldiers to occupy them.
