Meguri Shiromeguri felt her emotions swing from hell to heaven, then plunge in an instant back into the abyss of hell. Yukino Yukinoshita's response had no effect at all. Lin Ye had no intention of letting her go, and if anything he grew even worse, bullying her viciously.
By now Meguri wanted nothing, asked for nothing; she'd given up struggling.
Several minutes later, when Meguri saw Haruno let go and straighten up, she slowly lifted her dull, dazed, self-abandoning eyes and asked, "Done?"
"Mm, the President isn't even resisting? That makes it a little boring for me."
Meguri shot a withering glance, anger seeping back into her eyes.
She'd given herself up to his whims, and now he told her it was boring. Men really were all perverts—perverts of the highest order.
Instinct told Meguri to get away, but reality left her no choice but to stay, unable to do anything, unable to say anything, only silently accepting whatever the man arranged.
"I won't resist," she said.
"Oh? Really?"
"Mm."
"Boring. It kills any thought or urge I had to bully you, President."
But to Meguri's ears, those words were the best news of all.
She made up her mind: from now on she wouldn't resist in the slightest. She'd treat herself as a doll with no feelings at all, letting Lin Ye toy with her and take his fill, until one day Lin Ye would surely reach the point of being so satisfied that it all turned dull and tedious.
After that, she could be completely freed and released, rid of this man, Lin Ye.
As for how long that day would take to come, Meguri had no idea, and didn't dare think or imagine too deeply. She feared that the higher her hopes, the greater the disappointment—perhaps even despair—that would follow.
In the blink of an eye, Meguri found Haruno beside her again, perched on the armrest of her chair.
"I know exactly what you're thinking, President."
She continued, as Zero, "The President has decided never to resist or struggle again, to just let me bully her. How lovely."
She reached out and stroked Meguri's cheek. Meguri didn't move a muscle, didn't even bother to raise her eyes toward Haruno, letting Haruno do as she pleased.
Refusing was pointless anyway, so she might as well lie back and let it happen.
"Actually, I rather like having other people present."
Meguri: ???
She felt she'd heard something unbelievable, and stared at Haruno with wide, disbelieving eyes.
She couldn't believe it. She truly couldn't.
A man actually wanted other people around—could it be, could it be...
Without thinking, she pressed both hands to her chest; only that gave her any sense of security.
The moment that possibility crossed her mind, her desire and urge to flee grew stronger than ever.
She didn't want to go through anything like that. Being bullied by the man in front of her was already enough—and now to be watched by others, even bullied by them too? That... that...
The scene was too much to imagine.
Besides, weren't men supposed to be bursting with possessiveness?
How could this guy even think such a thing?
"The President's reacting a little. Good, good, I'm pleased."
As she spoke, Haruno's right hand slid down to caress the girl's neck.
"If you had no reaction at all, I'd have to find some way to draw one out of you, President. Your sense of shame is still there, after all."
"You..."
Meguri gritted her teeth and seethed, "Bastard. Pervert."
"Ah, you've seen right through me. Can't help it—in front of you, President, I stop being myself. I just want to bully you hard, to see you hurt and in tears yet forced to endure it."
A sadistic streak—it fit the image she had of him perfectly, Meguri thought quietly.
"Do as you like."
"Whoa! Do as I like? So I could round up a few people, then?"
Hearing that, Meguri's whole body trembled.
What on earth was this man thinking? He had no possessiveness over her at all!
"Hahaha, alright, alright, I won't scare you anymore, President. You're a girl I treasure—how could I ever bear to let another man near you? Just relax."
Those words did put Meguri somewhat at ease.
But the man's sadistic streak told Meguri the days ahead wouldn't be much better.
"By the way, don't go getting anyone else to help you shake me off in the future."
At Haruno's warning, Meguri nodded. She'd already failed once; trying again would be meaningless.
"Mm, that's better. That's my girlfriend."
Meguri didn't argue. Once the man before her had torn away his pleasant facade, she knew she'd remain his girlfriend—a role she likely couldn't cast off.
Either until she graduated, or until he grew tired of playing with her.
Beyond that, Meguri could think of no other possibility.
A bleak future, far too dismal.
But Meguri could only accept it, silently enduring it all within.
"Alright, Meguri, I'll be off for now. I'll contact you later."
With that, after her hands took one more liberty, Haruno left the Student Council Office with a smile.
Only at the click of the door did Meguri realize the man had gone.
She let out a breath and slumped limply into the chair.
"Haah."
"Just as I thought—this won't end so easily."
"Even... with Yukinoshita stepping in, it was no use."
She held no resentment toward Yukino Yukinoshita at all; it was just that, faced with this situation, she still felt a considerable, bitter reluctance.
Really—how had it come to this?
She'd thought it was over, that she'd escaped the den of monsters, only to be dragged back in the blink of an eye—and now there was no chance of escape left at all.
She could only accept it and endure.
After resting a good while and calming herself, Meguri got ready to head to the classroom to study.
No matter what, her duty as a student was still something she had to see to properly.
Only, one thing came to mind.
"Meguri?"
Meguri recalled that the last thing the man had called her, as he left, was Meguri.
"Probably from hearing Sis Haruno say it so much."
Because the only person who ever called her Meguri was, truly, Sis Haruno alone.
Hardly anyone else addressed her that way.
Meguri set aside her puzzlement and set off for the classroom.
Meanwhile, Haruno, who had left early, was lying in wait.
After Meguri, the ones she was most interested in were, naturally, that cute little junior and Miura Yumiko.
Arriving at the classroom and finding neither Miura Yumiko nor Iroha Isshiki, she realized neither had reached Sobu High yet.
She rose at once and made for the path every student had to take, watching, waiting quietly.
Time slipped by, minute by minute.
At last, Haruno spotted that familiar figure—
that long golden hair glinting in the first light of the morning sun.
A smile curved on Haruno's lips.
There was still time—she'd have to tease her thoroughly.
