Javier didn't spare them another glance.
He just lifted one finger.
The battle drones responded instantly.
A merciless storm of mana bullets tore through the last of the bandits and rogue mages. The gunfire rang out sharp and brutal, then died into thick silence.
Javier snapped his fingers.
The puppet knights moved in without a word, starting the grim work of cleanup. They laid out the dead with quiet efficiency, giving even their enemies the dignity of a proper burial.
Behind him, Liana approached, her voice soft. "Young Master…"
Javier just stood there, back turned to everyone. Both hands stuffed deep in his pockets.
"Why's everyone so damn stupid?" The words came out quiet. Tired more than angry. "Just 'cause your life falls apart once doesn't mean it's over. It's never the end...not unless death's actually knocking on your door."
