Fictional Mimicry, the ability to copy any ability a fictional character has with the exception of physical objects. I could copy the powers of Thor but I wouldn't have Mjolnir. Even with the downside, this ability was literally busted that the powerhouses here had used everything in their power to make sure no fictional material were here. In fact, every story here was based on real events that happened, any attempt to create a fictional material was demonetized to obscurity.
"What a headache, I said to myself as i scratched my head.
This world was a mess. Humanity had powers, had the ability to go interstellar, interacted with other alien civilizations, discovered pocket dimensions where they could farm their abilities to peak. Capitalism was more pronounced here, the gap between classes so vast it was a chasm. If you didn't have a good enough Aspect then you were basically a slave. If you had an Aspect that could be a game changer would either make you a target for suppression if you weren't in the top class, or you would be forced to join them as nothing more than an attack dog.
Aspects have levels. Each level represented a qualitative evolution in the being. Everyone awakened at Level 1. To most Aspects, Level 1 meant you were stronger than any normal human. A Level 1 would be considered too strong for any battalion back at my former world.
After that was Level 2. An Aspect at this level would be considered to be a town level threat. Their power was enough to flatten a small town with mid effort. Level 2 was considered to be the starting point towards power for many people would be stuck at Level 1to never advance.
Level 3 were considered strong enough to level a large city by themselves. Each move they made was enough to reshape the landscape and this was the stage where the Union blacklisted from fighting in any populated places. The damage anyone from this level and above would cause to the environment would be catastrophic to the ecology.
Level Four were considered to be almost demi gods. With their Aspects enough to destroy multiple cities to a country, they were the backbone to any planet. Most were serving as officers in the army or holding positions in the planetary defense forces.
Level Five were demigods in power. Their Aspects had evolved to destroy multiple countries with ease to destroying large planets with maximum effort. They were the core of any planet, often holding positions like planetary governors or generals in the planetary defense forces. Their Aspects had also evolved to open dimensional pockets where they can unleash their true capabilities without affecting the planet.
Level 6 was the beginning of godhood. Their Aspects will have tangible pressure that can force anyone weaker than them to kneel or used offensively to spontaneously explode! With the power to destroy solar system and to affect space and matter, they were at the threshold of becoming gods.
Level 7 were the creams of the crop, the geniuses everyone praise. Going from 6 to 7 was such a qualitative change that metamorphosis was a must. They are shedding their mortal coil to becoming gods of the universe. With the ability to potentially destroy a galaxy at full power, even space tremble at their slightest movement. Matter would be reshaped to their whim with their Aspects evolving to become a Law they command.
If Level 7 were geniuses then Level 8 were the geniuses among the geniuses. At Level 8, they could learn how to integrate other Aspects into their systems with most at this level just going on a murder spree to plunder Aspects of others to themselves. Most powerhouses are stuck at this level because with the many Aspects they integrate, the more time that had to cultivate them into reaching Level 7. To breakthrough Level 7 to 8 is decided by your potential. The more potential you have the more Aspects you will have to integrate into your system! The weakest Level 7 would destroy multiple galaxies while the strongest would almost be a universal extinction event.
Level 8 were considered gods among gods. With the power to destroy a universe, nobody ever dared to question what they were capable of. Their sense of self was elevated to a point few of them even considered themselves part of the race they were born in. Many races in the universe were created due to these beings and their version of their own beauty. Others were created just to serve them mostly in war and conquer.
No one knows which beings reside in Level 9 or Level 10 because such beings were powerful enough to leap dimensions at will. They couldn't be perceived by beings weaker than themselves!
"Fuuuuuck!" I cursed at the headache that is my existence because i was currently the owner of an Anomalous Aspect.
Anomalous Aspects were Aspects that bend the rule that all other Aspects follow. Instead of starting at Level One, these Aspects have power that punch far above their weight class. A few of them was a reality manipulation Aspect, an Evolution Aspect and everyone's least favorite, Mimicry Aspect. For a long time, anyone with these Aspects were either hunted down to their last bloodline or given a job by the powerhouses. What nobody had ever heard of was a Fictional Mimicry Aspect. An ability to copy powers from fictional characters.
The original owner was excited by his power that he announced it to everyone who would listen. He demonstrated by copying the power of a fictional hero called Might, a hero whose strength was unfathomable and totally indestructible. The higher beings panicked due to this and they used their vast power and resources to warp reality itself, not caring about the repercussions of their actions. From then on, fiction ceased to be and they had basically crippled him.
Having only copied Might's power, he had become someone who was not to be underestimated that the higher beings simply let him die of old age instead of provoking a sleeping beast any longer. Thinking they had curb a troublesome guy, they only put him on watch for some centuries before becoming lazy. The Aspect's original owner finally figured out how to use his Aspect by creating his own fictional characters.
The characters had to be fleshed out enough, to have feats in the fictional universe, to have renown, have their own kind of emotions. Basically, he had to write a very engaging character if he wanted his power to recognize the character as capable to mimicry. But, he was ashamed of how long he had to figure it out that he decided to give a last fuck you to the powerhouses that curbed his development. For a century, he had gone all out to write the best fictional character he could think about, a character that had the ability to peer and bring people or items from other universes.
The book had two thousand pages and using his small circle of friends he had, spread his book among them and they were so engrossed in the fictional book they had no idea they were fulfilling the last requirement for his ability to work, the fictional universe had to be acknowledged by others! And thus, he gained the ability of his character.
At first, he wanted to use it to get other fictional materials from other universes but his shame of how he handled his powers prevented him from doing so. Thus, he decided to bring in a person who had vast knowledge of fictional materials into this universe and bestow him his Aspect. It was a plan so mad no one in his universe would ever think of it. And thus, I was here.
"This is troublesome," I finally sighed. There was nothing I could do at this point except go along with the ride. Besides, I was starting to get a little excited of how to use this ability.
Fictional Mimicry, the ability to copy any fictional character's powers. As an otaku, I had vast knowledge of animes, tv shows, movies, mangas, webtoons and comics. Any of those had already fulfilled all the criteria for my Aspect to work. Thinking hard, I was already drawing out who I would copy first.
Dragon Ball was the first anime I watched like many others my age. It was the anime that introduced us to the wonderful world of anime and down the rabbithole of unemployment to pick up YouTube. Out of everyone in Dragon Ball, I was particularly in love with Gogeta, the fusion of Vegita and Goku. It was a fusion of two Saiyans who were fed up with being beaten and want to finish the fight as decisively fast as possible. That was who Gogeta was to me and it was the first powers I was going to get.
Immediately, I felt a qualitative change in who I was. From an ant to a being capable of punching through reality!
