"Do not worry too much," Jim said with a faint smile, sensing the tension in the air. "Even if that blood has grown a form of intelligence, it will not truly be of any help to the crownbearer. It is still bound by the crown and limited by its own incomplete nature."
"That is something I sincerely hope for," Max replied quietly. At this point, everything that could be done had already been done. The crown was secured, the truth had been revealed, and the final path was clear. All that remained was to leave the secret domain, return the crown and the remaining fragments of the soul to Mark, and then put an end to him once and for all. After that, Max could finally ascend without any lingering regrets or unfinished business tied to this world.
It sounded simple when reduced to words, yet Max knew better than anyone that simplicity did not mean ease. Still, he repeated it to himself like an anchor. It is a simple plan. We just need to kill Mark.
