Despite feeling countless gazes resting upon him and hearing the constant whispers surrounding his identity, Ethan remained completely indifferent.
His crimson eyes were instead fixed upon the gloomy sky hanging above Ice Emperor City.
Dark clouds drifted slowly overhead, blotting out what little sunlight had managed to escape through them.
The heavy blanket of grey gave the entire imperial capital an unusually oppressive atmosphere, as though something immense was silently waiting to awaken.
Ethan frowned slightly.
For reasons he couldn't explain, the longer he looked at the sky, the stronger an inexplicable feeling of suffocation became.
It wasn't painful.
Nor did it originate from any injury.
Instead, it felt as though an invisible veil had descended around his senses, dulling them ever so slightly.
It was an extremely subtle sensation, so faint that an ordinary mage would have never noticed it.
Yet Ethan wasn't an ordinary mage.
