I didn't expect myself to become emotional about it but I did because in a way I understood Denny. That was why I reached out to Melanie in the end because I wanted to make sense of who I was. I wanted to feel like I belonged in the world and having a sister made me feel like I wasn't alone. However looking at Denny now, I understood that raw connection.
We didn't know each other but it felt like I had known him my whole life. Had known his smile and his laugh because we practically looked like twins. It was odd to know that growing up I had no idea that he was out there. Looking at his eyes and wondering who he had gotten them from.
"Mum was beautiful," I cleared my throat when I felt like it had become too tight.
Denny seemed to understand what I was trying to say as he nodded, his own eyes becoming wet. "The most beautiful. It explains the smile now."
"It does," I laughed and quickly took a second to wipe my eyes
