Their distance from the Cube is still far, but Alex can already see Mard Geer standing on its edge. Everyone can see the gigantic Cube, but only Alex can see Mard Geer on it with his Rinne-Sharingan.
"Gray, let's tell them that we're coming." Alex calls Gray and walks to the control lacrima device.
"Huh? What do you mean?" Gray doesn't understand what Alex means by that until a big lacrima plate comes out of the floor in the middle of the control room.
There is a pair of hand prints carved on the lacrima crystal plate and a lot of magic letters all over the plate. Everyone looks at the lacrima plate curiously but still can't understand what it's for.
"Place your hands on the hand prints and channel your Ice Devil Slayer Magic into the plate until it glows bright. It will only take a little of your magic power to activate the plate's spell." Alex gives Gray an instruction while clicking some switches and buttons on the control panel.
Gray does as Alex says under everyone's curious eyes and it really just takes a small amount of his magic power to make the crystal plate glow. The control lacrima ball in front of Alex also glows, indicating Gray's magic has flowed into the system.
"Hold it like that for a while, don't let go before I tell you to."
Alex looks at the indicator shown in the control lacrima ball that looks like a round screen. There is an indicator that looks like a battery bar that keeps getting filled. After a while, the battery-like indicator is finally full.
"Keep your hands there, Gray! Everyone, hold onto something and look to the front! Watch the might of The Battle Fairy!"
Alex smirks as he places his hands on a pair of round lacrima crystals that have hand prints carved onto them attached to the control table. He channels his magic power into the round lacrima crystals and rotates them in the opposite directions.
After he does that, the airship shakes a little and everyone can sense a lot of magic power is gathered in front of the ship. They can see a large magic circle is being constructed right in front of the ship's head.
A very big icy purplish magic ball is created in front of the magic circle. They can sense the magic power in the giant magic ball keeps getting stronger and stronger rapidly. It only takes 5 seconds for the magic ball to be fully charged.
"Here we go. Battle Fairy's Jupiter Cannon: Ice Devil's Rage!"
A massive icy purplish beam is shot from The Battle Fairy towards the Cube. It's so strong because it uses all the magic power stored in the ship's Giant Cannon Lacrima. Alex doesn't want to hold back with their 1st attack and just go all-out from the beginning.
The beam moves very fast towards the Cube. But just as the beam reaches half the distance, a counter attack is shot from the Cube. A dark purple beam of a similar size is shot from the Cube to counter their attack.
Alex doesn't know Tartaros has this kind of weapon. But it's good that they are forced to use it. At the very least, it will take a lot of their energy to counter this attack, especially since the Battle Fairy's attack is a Devil Slayer Spell.
While he doesn't know what kind of attack that Tartaros uses, he is sure that they are using Curse because those demons are very confident with their Curse ability to be superior to Magic.
But whether they use Curse or Demon Magic, Gray's Devil Slayer Spell will still be very effective against them, and as Alex is hoping for, the Jupiter Cannon: Ice Devil's Rage breaks through the Cube's Curse beam.
Unfortunately, the Curse Beam has weakened their attack too much. So the damage on the Cube when the Giant Ice Devil's Rage hits it is not that big. They can break the outer walls, but can't get too far into the Cube.
"Hmm, that's good enough I guess. Let's go to that place now." Alex hopes for more, but this is enough for now because they've proven their weapon to be stronger.
"No! No! No! Wait a minute! What was that? You need to explain it! How could the ship shoot my Ice Devil Slayer Magic Spell?" Gray shouts while looking at Alex with a surprise and confused expression.
"Oh, that? Um, Laxus, explain it please." Alex doesn't really know the whole theory behind it, so he asks Laxus who also knows it to explain. While he knows how to operate it, Alex doesn't know how to explain it.
"Sigh. Well, this airship's Jupiter Cannon has 3 attack modes. The 1st mode is the normal Jupiter Cannon that shoots pure Magic Beam which is called Etherion in the Magic Council. The 2nd Mode is using lacrima crystal to change the Cannon's magic property. If you use Dragon Lacrimas, it will shoot Dragon Slayer Magic, simple like that. Then the 3rd method, instead of using lacrima like the 2nd method, we use magic directly from their users to change the Cannon's magic properties. So if Natsu uses it, the Cannon will shoot a Fire Dragon's Roar. But because you used it, it shot Ice Devil's Rage, because your Ice Devil Slayer Magic changed the Cannon's properties. It's the most effective magic to be used against demons, that's why your magic is the best option."
Laxus explains it in a simple way, so most of them understand. Though there are a few like Natsu, Gajeel, and Sting who still can't understand.
They ignore those who don't understand and go to the Cube. The Battle Fairy flies above the Cube and everyone except for Meteor jumps out of the airship. Well, Natsu, Gajeel, and Wendy are flying with their Exceeds, so they aren't really jumping.
Meanwhile, Meteor who is left on the airship actually replaces Alex as its pilot and moves the airship away from the Cube to prevent it from being attacked by Tartaros.
Lector and Frosch are also left on the ship because they can't fight. They are also tasked to help and accompany Meteor on the airship.
Still, everyone is dumbfounded that a bear really can pilot an airship.
"Don't you think he is smarter than some of us here?" Ultear doesn't look at anyone but the idiots immediately pointing hands at each other, making it obvious who she meant by that.
Of course, they are Natsu, Gajeel, Gray, Sting, and Rogue.
The Dragon Slayers don't feel any motion sickness on the Cube. They would be if they still believed this Cube is a vehicle. But Alex has explained that this cube is also a demon.
They didn't believe him at first, until they saw the Cube transformed. Mard Geer used his Curse, Alegria to transform the Cube into a gigantic monster that Alex remembers as Plutogrim. It was transformed to fix or heal the damage that was caused by Jupiter Cannon: Ice Devil's Rage.
Now that they know this Cube isn't a vehicle, none of the 3rd Generation Dragon Slayers feel any motion sickness. They were helped by Wendy's spell on the airship, but they won't need it anymore now.
And yeah, Natsu, Gajeel, and Wendy are also 3rd Generation Dragon Slayers now, thanks to the Dragon Lacrimas made by their future selves and were given to them by future Lucy during the Grand Magic Games.
Now, just like Sting and Rogue, they can activate their Dragon Force anytime they want, and because previously they were already stronger than both Sting and Rogue, the gaps between them became even larger.
But that's not important now because they aren't enemies. The real enemies are inside this Giant Cube monster.
"Alright, as planned, let's move in pairs. Only I will move alone."
They've discussed that they'll move in teams of 2 except for Alex who will move alone. Well, 2 teams will have 3 members because Happy and Carla won't be counted as fighters. Sting and Rogue didn't bring Lector and Frosch because of this reason.
So the teams are Laxus with Wendy and Carla, Mira with Elfman, Erza with Lisanna, Natsu with Happy and Lucy, Ultear with Gray, Gajeel with Lily, and obviously Sting with Rogue.
7 teams and a solo attacker will move in different directions. So 8 groups which will equal the now 8 Demon Gates in number, previously known as 9 Demon Gates, but Silver has already died, so only 8 of them remained.
Alex obviously wants to immediately target their boss, Mard Geer. But he knows he needs to take down their underlings first to keep his friends safe.
There are just so many demons here. Most of them are weak, but their number is high and they still can be threats to the Mages.
That's why he wants them to move in teams of at least 2. Too bad that the other strong Mages in the Guild like Cana, Gildarts, and the Thunder God Tribe are taking quests now, so they can't join, but at least Alex is not alone.
He also can't wait for them because he doesn't know when Tartaros will start their plan to activate Face that will kill many people, so he needs to be fast.
There's also the matter with Tartaros's spy in the Magic Council. He leaves that matter to Makarov, but it's still a reason he needs to move fast before the spies alert Tartaros about their attack. Though it doesn't seem to be that useful because Mard Geer has already waited for them.
"Alright, let's go!"
Alex leads them to move to the big building located on the Cube's rooftop that looks like an island surrounded by sea. This whole structure is really gigantic and a bloodbath will happen here soon.
