I'm sorry for not updating in a while. My laptop broke and there were some IRL matters that I couldn't say. But I plan to keep going with this series because it's already near the end, so stay tuned. Will definitely try to be consistent again.

What Alex tells Mavis isn't the whole truth. He tells her he received a future vision of the future from a God years ago. His magic was also given by that God, that's why his Beasts are unknown.
Alex actually has told Mavis a lot of clues about his origin when they interacted over the years. He even asked her for advice about the things he should do to change some plots, but Mavis didn't catch that he has future knowledge.
Now she fully understands it and it actually breaks her heart because she finds out that she has a child she doesn't even know exists. It pains her when she realizes her child grew up without his mother's love.
"Why are you just telling me this now? You could tell me sooner." Mavis cries as her ethereal body slumps on the ground.
"And what will you do if you know sooner? Going to Alvarez and getting caught by Zeref? The reason I didn't tell you was because I couldn't defeat Zeref yet. All of Alvarez's attempts to infiltrate Ishgar were because they wanted to capture you, your crystalized body. They wanted to get Lumen Histoire. Zeref believed that if he took your power, then he would have enough power to defeat Acnologia. While it won't kill you because of your Curse, you will be treated as a battery by him until he can defeat Acnologia. August supports Zeref because he wants to be with his mother no matter what and he is also loyal to Zeref who doesn't even know that they are father and son. If you go there, your only fate is being captured and turned into a battery. You are strong, but Zeref and his Spriggan 12 are stronger. We are friends, so I can't let you go to your end by yourself. Now that I am confident I can defeat Alvarez alone, I can finally tell this to you. So if you want to go there to see your son, then I can go with you and protect you. You've helped me so many times, so I will also help you. But that needs to wait until we break off the life-connection between Natsu and Zeref because I don't want to kill Natsu."
Alex tells her his long reason. Fortunately, she is calm enough to listen and actually understands his points even though she still feels sad that she doesn't know this sooner.
August is already very old now. Even if Alex tells this to her right at their 1st meeting, the time difference will be too small compared to August's age. So she still wishes that she could know this sooner and meet her son sooner even if it's just a few days.
Mavis is crying sadly and Alex just stands nearby without saying anything. Soon, she gets over it and stops crying. She wipes her tears before looking at Alex with a very serious expression.
"You are planning to attack Alvarez, aren't you?"
"I am. As I've told those stubborn old fogies, it's better if we attack them so our people won't die. I'm sorry to say this like a psychopath, but I'd rather see their people die than our people. We wouldn't feel that sad if our neighbor's kid dies, but we would bawl our eyes out if our kids die instead. Besides, if I focus the attack on their Capital, the casualties will be lower than if they attack our Continent. I can reach their Capital easily, but they will need to cross places to reach our Guild to capture your body."
"You talk as if you want to attack them alone."
Alex just smiles at Mavis's words, making her speechless. He really does plan to attack an Empire alone. Even with how strong Alex is, Mavis knows it's still a very reckless plan.
"I doubt the Council will approve the plan to strike them first before they attack us. If they don't quickly take action, I will take action myself. Alvarez obviously will be much more cautious now with me here. Zeref has personally seen my battle with Acnologia, so he should have a good grasp of my power. If we wait for them to prepare, we will just lose our advantage. Also, as I've said many times, letting them attack us will only result in our people's deaths."
Mavis obviously understands Alex's points. But now that she knows she has a son who now lives on Alvarez and becomes their general, she feels conflicted. Alex also knows what she feels now.
"Don't worry. My target is only Zeref. If you want to meet and talk with August, I can help you with it. As long as you meet him, I doubt August will be able to fight. I can handle the other Spriggan and Zeref myself. Unlike when I fought Acnologia, I could prepare for the fight with Alvarez if we took the initiative."
Telling Mavis about August is also one of his preparations. Alex does have sympathy for August's situation. But his main reason is because Mavis is August's only weakness.
That old man even stopped a very powerful spell midway even though it cost him his life just because he saw Mavis. If Mavis can approach him later, then August won't be able to fight.
Alex is confident in his power, but unlike Acnologia, he doesn't have immunity to most magic. If he needs to fight Zeref and all Spriggan alone, then his winning chance will be low.
He needs to reduce the number of opponents he'll fight. But he also needs to ensure that the ones taking over the fights against those enemies are truly capable of handling them.
August is the most troublesome opponent because he can copy all their magic in a single glance. Even Gildarts is helpless against August, not to mention the others. That's why making Mavis approach August is the best way that Alex can think of.
Another most problematic figure is Irene Belserion, the 1st Dragon Slayer, and Erza's biological mother. For her, Alex doesn't know if he should send Erza, or other people, fighting her himself.
But he is inclined to send Erza and some more people to help her. Just like with August, Irene's greatest weakness is her family, in this case, it's his daughter, Erza.
Well, she is now a cruel individual and very cold-blooded. But if there's 1 person she can't kill, it will be Erza. She even left Erza in that village because she knew she couldn't raise her daughter well with her insanity.
So she decided it's better for her daughter to receive proper love from strangers than her who had even thought of using her daughter as her vessel to free herself from Dragonization.
But it will still be difficult for Erza because Irene will still fight her quite seriously as shown in the series. That's why Alex can't let Erza fight Irene alone.
Well, if he tells his Guild Mates about his plan to attack Alvarez, then he has no doubt they will help him. That means they can also help Erza.
They might not want to attack Alvarez at first. But he's sure they will agree once they know that Alvarez wants to capture Mavis's body. He's sure all of them will agree to protect their 1st Guild Master, so they'll agree to attack Alvarez.
However, Alex also has a very strong doubt in his heart. Zeref's reason for trying to capture Lumen Histoire is to defeat Acnologia. But that target has been killed now, so there's no reason to capture Lumen Histoire again.
Alex also thought of that possibility, but he also thought that now Zeref will target him. He, who has killed Acnologia, is on the same level of threat as Acnologia himself.
Furthermore, Alex is still young. He still has plenty of room to grow, so he can surpass Acnologia if he can live as long as Acnologia.
If Zeref treats him the same as Acnologia, then Zeref will also think that he can't defeat Alex as he is now. So he will still try to capture Lumen Histoire to defeat Alex.
Zeref's annoying twisted personality is something that Alex really hates. Alex always sees Zeref as a sociopath. He thinks of Acnologia as a danger to the world while he himself is just as dangerous because he literally killed people wherever he walked.
Yet, he still goes around everywhere and even actively attacks a continent just to raise his power to defeat another monster he thought was a very great danger to the world.
For Alex, Zeref only looks like someone who justifies his evil action using Acnologia as his excuse. He might be a great Emperor to his Empire, but he is just a serial killer for other nations.
Well, no matter what his real intention is, Alex knows Zeref's Ankhseram Curse is too dangerous to be left alone. He needs to remove that danger and that's by killing Zeref.
