"Hold on," he said evenly, keeping pressure steady. He pulled out his phone with his free hand, voice low but firm. "Send a medical team to the basement. Now."
He kept applying pressure, blood soaking through his fingers, but his eyes never left Nnenna. Even while helping Athena, he couldn't look away from her.
Nnenna's chest heaved, anger burning through her veins. Without a word, she snatched the gun from Darius's hand and drove her boot into the back of his knee.
"This is for betraying us," she said sharply.
He dropped with a groan. Before he could recover, she swung the butt of the gun and struck him across the head.
"And this," she added coldly, "is for thinking you can play with my feelings."
Darius fell unconscious. The room went still, the air thick with tension and gunpowder. Arthur kept calling for help, hands trembling slightly as he pressed on Athena's wound, his jaw tight with worry.
