Chapter 147 - church 2

The priest was well dressed—black attire with a distinctive white collar.

Simple, but elegant.

He carried himself with a natural calmness.

His blonde hair and deep blue eyes gave him an almost textbook holy appearance.

Even his laughter felt… genuine.

Light.

Innocent.

There was something about him—not in the sense of attraction, but trust.

The kind of person you would instinctively open up to.

Raiden looked at him for a moment and thought that, if he ever had something to confess… it would probably be to someone like him.

Before Raiden could say anything, the priest approached him with that same kind smile.

"Welcome," he said warmly.

"I'm Diora Brandhew, priest of this church."

He placed a hand over his chest politely.

"I've heard a lot about you."

A small pause.

"And believe me—there's not a single child here who doesn't know about your good deeds."

His eyes softened slightly.

"I admire you a lot. I've been following your work quite closely."

Then he chuckled lightly.

"If the kids didn't recognize you right away… it's only because they're used to seeing you transformed."

Raiden smiled faintly.

Then—

His forearm began to glow.

A bright 27 lit up across it.

In an instant, sparks of lightning spread across his body.

His form shifted.

Expanded.

His height rose to over two meters.

His horns emerged.

His tail extended behind him.

Mewtwo stood there.

The reaction was immediate.

The children froze for a split second—

Then exploded in excitement.

"Mewtwooooo!!"

In seconds, they rushed him.

No concept of personal space.

No hesitation.

They hugged him, clung to him—some even grabbed onto his tail, laughing.

Mewtwo sighed softly.

But there was no annoyance in it.

Only resignation.

And maybe… a bit of amusement.

His eyes glowed.

Gently.

And suddenly—

All of the children began to float.

Laughter filled the church.

He moved them through the air slowly at first, then faster, guiding them in smooth arcs across the space.

They spun.

They drifted.

They soared.

Giggles echoed everywhere.

Then he raised one hand—

And formed a translucent barrier.

A sphere.

A soft, glowing bubble.

Inside it, the children bounced lightly, laughing even harder as they floated and rebounded in slow motion.

It turned into a game.

A playground made of light.

Diora and Amelia watched from below, both smiling.

There was something almost surreal about the scene.

A cathedral—

Turned into a floating playground of laughter and light.

Mewtwo moved gracefully through the air with them, guiding the motion, adjusting every movement with precision.

They continued playing for quite a while until Mewtwo finally decided to descend and rejoin Amelia and Priest Diora.

The two of them were now sitting at a small table placed beneath the altar, cups of tea waiting there quietly. When Mewtwo landed, the children immediately protested.

"Eeeeh?! Already?!"

"Just a little more!"

"Again! Again!"

Mewtwo sighed softly, though the faint smile on his face betrayed him.

However, before the kids could continue complaining, Diora simply clapped his hands once.

"Alright, alright," the priest said warmly.

"Let our guest rest a little."

Surprisingly—

The children actually listened.

Well… mostly.

They still complained while walking away, but soon enough they returned to playing among themselves in the background.

Then Diora looked at Mewtwo with an amused smile.

"So… the kids were right?"

"Ah?"

Mewtwo tilted his head in confusion.

For a second, he genuinely didn't understand what the priest meant—

Until one of the children suddenly yelled from the distance.

"You're gonna become the next Number One Hero! Everyone says so!"

At those words, Mewtwo blinked.

Then a small smile appeared on his face.

It was flattering.

More than he expected.

After all, becoming the Number One Hero was the highest honor someone in that profession could reach.

"Hahaha… I don't know about that yet," Mewtwo replied.

"But I'm working on it."

Right after that, Diora guided him toward a smaller room connected to the church.

A quieter place.

There, the priest gestured for him to sit down.

Since his transformed form was simply too large for the furniture, Mewtwo let the transformation fade, sparks of light surrounding him as he returned to Raiden's human appearance before taking a seat.

The three of them chatted for a while.

Mostly about the church.

About the work they did there.

At first, it sounded just like Amelia had described—

Helping children.

Providing food.

Tutoring.

Support.

But Diora expanded much more on it.

"The churches form a support network," the priest explained calmly.

"Not just for children, but for anyone in need."

He stirred his tea slowly.

"People often think faith is only about religion."

A small smile crossed his face.

"But true faith is also about doing what is right."

Hearing the man speak about all the years he had dedicated to helping others made Raiden feel genuine admiration.

There was no arrogance in him.

No hidden agenda visible on the surface.

Just sincerity.

They truly dedicated themselves to helping people.

And that made Raiden think.

Maybe someday… he should bring the others there too.

The day passed more quickly than expected.

At one point, Raiden even went back to play with the children again.

Floating games.

Small telekinetic tricks.

Barrier slides.

The entire church echoed with laughter more than once.

And both Amelia and Diora looked genuinely happy to have him there.

Eventually, the sun began to set.

Orange light filtered through the stained-glass windows, painting the church interior with warm colors.

It was time for him to leave.

Raiden said goodbye to the children one by one before finally walking toward the exit.

As he stepped outside, he stopped for a brief moment and glanced back at the church.

The place really was beautiful.

Peaceful.

"It was a good reunion," Mewtwo muttered to himself.

Then he transformed once more and flew into the city sky.

Since he was already outside, he decided to use the opportunity to patrol a little before returning to U.A.

That way, he could stop a few crimes—

And at the same time gain a bit more experience.

Every little bit counted if he wanted to reach the level of the top heroes.

"Now that I think about it…" Mewtwo muttered while flying above the city lights.

"It's been a while since I sparred against a top pro hero."

A thought crossed his mind.

One that slowly became more interesting the more he considered it.

"I wonder how strong I am compared to them now…"

Then his eyes narrowed slightly.

"…Actually, I just got an interesting idea."

With that thought lingering in his mind, Mewtwo flew toward U.A.

Along the way, he stopped four robberies, dealt with a few reckless villains trying to cause trouble.

Once back at U.A, Mewtwo flew above the main building and looked down at the campus below.

It was already late.

Most of the students had already returned to the dorms or gone home, leaving the training grounds mostly empty.

Only a handful still remained.

Mostly students from his own year.

And a few first years.

Some of them were practicing combat movements repeatedly.

Again.

And again.

Trying to polish mistakes.

Trying to improve.

"Oh right…" Mewtwo muttered while slowly descending through the night air.

"I heard they had some kind of combat test today."

He watched them for a moment.

"Maybe they're trying to correct their mistakes."

That thought brought back memories almost immediately.

"I remember doing the same thing after fighting Snipe during first year."

A faint smile crossed his face.

"I wonder how we'd do against him now."

His eyes narrowed thoughtfully.

"His aim is incredible."

A brief pause.

"Not as good as Kaina's… but still incredible."

As he descended further, one figure caught his attention almost immediately.

The blonde boy from the entrance exam.

Bakugo.

The boy was training alone.

Aggressively.

Sweat covered his body while small explosions burst from his palms repeatedly.

However—

He was covered in bandages.

Quite a few of them.

For someone who had supposedly already been treated, he looked rough.

At the same time, Mewtwo noticed another familiar face nearby.

The green-haired boy.

Midoriya.

And compared to Bakugo…

He looked even worse.

His movements were stiff, and the bandages around his arms were excessive even by U.A standards.

"Looks like Recovery Girl healed them… but didn't completely go all out," Mewtwo muttered.

"Was he really that injured?"

Without wasting more time, Mewtwo flew above Midoriya.

His eyes glowed softly.

And he used Life Dew.

The healing energy washed over the green-haired boy instantly.

The bruises faded.

The stiffness disappeared.

Even the exhaustion in his expression lessened immediately.

Within seconds, Midoriya returned to perfect condition.

The boy blinked in confusion.

Then looked around quickly—

Until he spotted Mewtwo floating above him.

The reaction was immediate.

He stiffened.

Flushed.

And looked like his brain had stopped functioning for a second.

Mewtwo immediately recognized the expression.

It was practically the same face the kids at the church had made.

Pure admiration.

Maybe even fangirling.

The difference was—

This was someone almost his age.

And honestly?

Mewtwo didn't feel like spending the next thirty minutes answering excited questions.

So before Midoriya could even fully react, Mewtwo simply nodded once and flew toward the other injured student.

Bakugo.

Just like before, he activated Life Dew.

The healing energy spread instantly through the blonde boy's body.

The bruises disappeared.

The pain vanished.

Even the smaller cuts closed completely.

However—

Unlike Midoriya—

Bakugo's reaction was very different.

The moment he recognized Mewtwo, he immediately stepped back and raised his guard.

Small explosions cracked from his palms instinctively.

Then he yelled:

"You again?!"

"How ungrateful," Mewtwo said calmly.

"You're in good shape now, aren't you?"

"What do you care?!" Bakugo snapped back immediately.

"You owe me one! I'll beat you next time!"

Mewtwo tilted his head slightly.

"You won't."

A small pause.

"Want to try?"

His eyes glowed faintly.

"I can give you permission to use your Quirk right now."

The message went straight into Bakugo's head.

And he didn't hesitate even for a second.

His face twisted into an aggressive grin as sparks exploded from his palms.

"You'll regret it!"

Then he roared—

"DIIIIIIIEEEEE!"

BOOM!

A violent explosion erupted behind him, propelling him upward toward Mewtwo at high speed.

The force cracked the training ground beneath his feet.

However—

Mewtwo didn't even flinch.

He simply raised one hand casually.

And waved it downward.

The next instant—

Bakugo was slammed face-first into the ground.

CRASH!

The impact echoed through the training field.

And just to make things worse—

Mewtwo specifically made sure Bakugo landed with his face against the pavement.

Because of the speed from his own explosion, Bakugo barely had time to process what happened before eating concrete.

Still—

He recovered almost instantly.

"You bastard!"

Another explosion.

Another charge.

And once again—

Mewtwo casually flicked his hand.

BOOM!

Bakugo crashed into the floor again.

Then he attacked again.

And again.

And again.

Each attempt ended the same way.

Explosions.

A rush forward.

Then immediate suppression.

Like gravity itself had decided Bakugo wasn't allowed to move.

At one point, Midoriya, who had stayed nearby after being healed, could only stare with wide eyes at the scene unfolding before him.

It honestly looked less like a fight—

And more like Mewtwo disciplining an angry dog that refused to calm down.

Bakugo blasted himself upward once more, refusing to stop.

His palms sparked wildly.

Sweat flew everywhere.

His explosions became stronger each attempt.

But it changed nothing.

Again—

Mewtwo slammed him into the ground.

Again.

Again.

Again.

"You don't get bored?" Mewtwo finally asked while floating above him.

His voice remained perfectly calm.

"You still don't have the strength necessary to break my telekinesis."

Bakugo tried to push himself up again, trembling from frustration.

Mewtwo continued.

"So nothing will happen."

Another small motion of his hand—

And Bakugo was dragged backward across the ground again.

"If you can't avoid it or counter it, then winning against me is impossible."

Mewtwo looked down at him.

"Your body isn't strong enough."

A brief pause.

"And because of that, you also don't have a body capable of breaking my telekinesis."

Then—

With another casual wave—

He sent Bakugo flying away once more.
