Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Fairy Tail's S-Class Mage

Kingdom of Fiore, Magnolia Town.

Comotion rippled through the bustling streets as residents scrambled to flee in all directions.

Between the clusters of medieval-style buildings, a ten-meter-tall Rock Giant Soldier strode forward, each footstep sending tremors through the ground.

The Rock Giant's silhouette was remarkably refined—two massive rock greatswords embedded in its shoulders, its gaze sharp and piercing like that of a fearless, valiant warrior.

The wind howled fiercely overhead, causing a black and red coat to billow continuously.

A somewhat lean-built man stood on the Rock Giant's shoulder, hands in his pockets, gazing calmly toward the end of the street.

There, the familiar outline of the guild hall came in and out of view.

"What reckless fool dares to strut down the street like this, disrupting traffic?!"

An adventurer passing by, thoroughly annoyed by this behavior, planted his feet firmly as a magic circle glowed beneath him, blocking the Rock Giant Soldier's path.

He was a mage.

"Hey, hey, don't do it, kid! Get back here—that giant's just passing through! Step aside, and you'll be fine!"

A middle-aged man rushed over, trying to forcibly drag the mage away.

As a longtime resident of Magnolia Town, he seemed quite familiar with that Rock Giant Soldier.

"Step aside? You must be joking! I'm the strongest mage of Black Pheasant Foot!"

The man's lips curled upward as he rolled up his sleeve, confidently revealing the guild mark branded on his arm.

Hearing this, seemingly intimidated by the guild name, the middle-aged man stood frozen in stunned bewilderment.

After racking his brain and failing to recall any relevant information, his face took on an apologetic expression.

"Never heard of that guild."

"Damn it!"

The self-proclaimed "strongest" mage's composure shattered on the spot.

He cursed angrily, frantically activating his magic circle, desperate to prove his supposedly overwhelming strength.

"If you're going to use magic, don't say I didn't warn you. That man standing on the Rock Giant's shoulder, he's Fairy Tail's S-Class Mage, Chase Lin Edgarhall!"

Seeing the Rock Giant Soldier approaching fast, the middle-aged man acted decisively, taking to his heels and bolting.

Whether you're Black Pheasant Foot or White Chicken Hand, this old man's out of here~!

Fairy Tail?

S-Class?

Chase Lin Edgarhall!

Each term is more explosive than the last echoed deep within the mind of the man about to make his grand scene.

In just one second, those fierce eyes ready to fight anyone became as harmless and innocent as could be, rounder and clearer than a college student's.

THUD!

The man's fantasy of repelling the giant and earning the adoration of all the townsfolk ultimately failed to materialize.

The Rock Giant Soldier kicked him flying, he spun two and a half times in the air before landing headfirst in a nearby trash can...

As if nothing had happened, the Rock Giant Soldier continued unimpeded down the straight, clear street, stopping before a three-story building that resembled a tavern more than anything elaborate.

A flag bearing the emblem of a gracefully dancing elf fluttered in the wind.

The first thing to catch the eye was the sign bearing the name: FAIRY TAIL.

Fairy Tail, the most famous mage guild in the Kingdom of Fiore!

SNAP!

Chase, standing high above, snapped his fingers. As a card with a black vortex pattern on its back appeared between his fingertips, brilliant light instantly bloomed beneath the Rock Giant Soldier.

Red and black dazzling lights intertwined and coiled, forming a slowly rotating, stylish magic circle.

The massive Rock Giant dissolved into countless specks of light that vanished into the magic circle. Losing his support, Chase landed lightly and gracefully, tucking away the Yu-Gi-Oh! card.

The Mutou Yugi (Pharaoh) Deck—this was his magic, or rather, the cheat he'd brought with him when he'd traveled into the Fairy Tail world.

By infusing magical power into the game cards, just like Celestial Spirit Magic, he could summon and battle with the various monsters from his deck!

"Can't believe it's already been over a year... This feeling of suddenly coming home after being away working—it's been a while."

Hearing the commotion and ruckus seeping through the slightly ajar guild doors, Chase couldn't help but murmur.

He raised his hand, bending two fingers in a polite knocking gesture.

And then...

BOOM—the fragile wooden door shattered on the spot, dust billowing everywhere.

Normal people knock when they come home. But this is Fairy Tail—who follows normal procedures here?!

"Enemy attack?!"

"Haha! Some idiots actually come to cause trouble here!"

"Manly! Don't anyone steal this from me, let me pound the intruder until he wets himself!"

"Get lost, Elfman! A scene like this, it's been so long I should be the one to shine!"

The sudden noise instantly energized the mages inside the guild. They stopped their racket, cracking knuckles and rolling up sleeves as they stared at the entrance.

Any normal guild facing their door being smashed in, even if they didn't panic, would band together cautiously.

But Fairy Tail...

Well, without even seeing who the "intruder" was, they'd already started fighting over who got to take him on...

The vibe was brutally savage!

"Oh? Gonna pound me until I wet myself, Elfman? You seem even more manly than before. I haven't seen you in a while."

The strangely familiar voice made the rowdy Fairy Tail members freeze.

Then, the figure emerging from the dust made their eyes bulge and jaws drop.

"Huh?"

"Huh?! CHASE!!!"

The moment they recognized Chase, Elfman, who'd been shouting the loudest, instantly deflated.

He subtly maneuvered his companions in front of him as shields, pretending nothing had happened as he looked toward Mirajane standing by the bar counter.

"Mira-nee, where were we? Oh right—haven't brought the laundry in yet, have we?"

Mirajane rested her hands gracefully on her red dress, tilting her head with a sweet, gentle smile.

"Mhm~!"

Under his big sister's cover, young Elfman successfully dodged that bullet.

Chase slowly withdrew his gaze, glancing at the ones who'd been standing in front shouting the loudest.

Jet, Droy, Warren, and two background extras silently and tacitly stepped back. Macao, half a beat slower in reaction, became the center of attention for the whole room.

"You b-bastards! When did you?!"

Macao, now standing alone, his eyes nearly popping out of his head, cursed furiously at those scumbags who'd retreated.

You're gonna bolt and not even give a heads-up?!

We're Fairy Tail, damn it!

Chase's gaze sharpened. He took a step, then another, walking right up to Macao.

Cold sweat kept beading on Macao's forehead: Why didn't this monster give any notice he was coming back?

Just my luck, hope he doesn't hit me in the face...

As a guild veteran, he knew exactly how terrifying Chase was.

Fighting Natsu or Gray, there was at least a chance. Getting into a brawl with Chase? He'd just die a miserable death!

Just as Macao resigned himself to fate and closed his eyes, Chase's stern expression suddenly shifted. He pointed at Macao's nose and burst out laughing, even as a snot bubble formed:

"Pfft-hahaha! Well, if it isn't Macao, the guy who can't even beat a lousy gorilla! A year and more gone by, and you've gotten THIS lame?!"
