Chapter 32 - Chapter 32

"I had a lover.........…."

The words kept replaying in her mind: What happened between them? She must have broken his heart badly.

"What are you thinking about so intently?"

She turned to Nora, "Something that Ace said to me."

"What did he say now? I might be able to help you."

"He said that he had a lover."

"HE DID?"

"Yes, and it's the way that he said it."

"How did he say it?"

"He was heartbroken."

"The Ace?"

"Yes."

"Are you sure, Luna, because it's hard to believe that such a man could be capable of feeling such emotions."

"Me too, but it's the first time he sounded human."

Nora's eyes widened. "Don't tell me that you're falling for him?"

"OH HELL NO! I just felt.........."

"Yes?"

Luna was searching for the right emotion,

"Sorry for him."

"You felt sorry for him?"

"Yes, he seemed to be lost. Maybe that is why he can never find love."

"So his resolution is to use women as he pleases."

"Thanks, Nora."

"Why?"

"You managed to snap me out of my ridiculous thoughts."

"I did?"

"Yes, I just briefly forgot what kind of man he was."

"Don't forget that he is a cold and vicious killer who can get away with it as everyone, including law enforcement, is afraid of him."

"That boggles my mind, Nora."

"What does? The killing?"

"Yes, I mean law enforcement knows where to find him and could take him down, but they choose to look the other way."

"Justice is long dead, sadly."

She nodded, "You are right."

"You two need to stop gossiping and tend to your tables. The manager is not going to be happy, and they will take it out on us."

They both turned to Sienna, she had become a huge pain in the ass these days.

"Don't mind us and worry about your table, Sienna," Nora replied.

"Especially you, Luna, you have the most important table, and you shouldn't be slacking."

"But I'm not."

"I went to greet Ace, of course, they are all complaining about you."

"They are?"

"They were planning on reporting you to the manager, and you could have lost your job."

"So why didn't they?" Nora replied.

"Ace. They are all afraid as to how Ace would retaliate if they gave Luna trouble."

Nora looked at her, "He has it bad."

"No, he doesn't." Sienna snapped.

"You don't even know what I mean, Sienna, so you don't have to snap at me."

"Oh please, Nora, I can read between the lines."

"I don't care what you can read and what you can't."

"You......….."

Nora cut her off, "I'm not about to go back and forth with you again about the same thing. My opinion is not going to change, and I will say whatever I want to say, whether you like it or not."

With that, Nora walked away.

"Why is she such a bitch." Said Sienna.

"You got your positions switched around, Sienna. You bother her, and she reacts as you approach her. So don't you dare call her names."

Before Sienna could respond, she didn't care what he would say so she just walked away back to her table.

She went back to her table. "Is everything alright?"

They all ignored her and she felt a bit of a fool.

"Respond if she asks you something."

"Of course, I didn't hear her." One of the men replied.

"Apologies, Sir, I'm more than." He replied to her.

"Me too."

More answers poured out, and for the first time, she was grateful that Ace was there to help her.

Tonight was very strange, she was seeing too much of a different Ace that was making her feel a bit uncomfortable.

"Please don't hesitate to call me if you need anything."

They all responded, and Luna went back to the front. She looked at the time, and there was a good amount left before the end of her shift.

She picked up her phone and checked her messages. There was no response from William, and she wondered if he would be here to take her home as he always did.

The night finally finished, and she packed up. Luna went outside and dialled William's number, but he did not answer.

She sighed and sent him a message.

"I am heading home, I hope everything is alright with you. Call me when you see this."

Sienna, Nora, and the other girls stood there, and Ace's car pulled up. Sienna was giddy,

"Get in."

"Yes, Sir," Sienna replied as she began making her way into his car.

"Not you, Luna."

Sienna drew back, and she looked shocked, but mostly embarrassed.

"There is no need, I can make my own way back."

"William isn't coming; he would have already been here, and I could see that you weren't on your phone. Which means he is not coming, so get in. I need to make sure that you get home safe."

She could hear the whispers,

"I.........…"

"Don't make me carry you, Luna."

She knew that he meant every word, and she didn't want him to make a bigger spectacle than what this was already turning out to be. "Fine." She gritted out.

Luna hugged Nora, and she didn't want to let go of her friend, but what could she do? "I will see you tomorrow."

"You will fill me in on everything," Nora whispered in her ear.

"Of course."

Luna reluctantly got into his car, and they set off.
