Chapter 68 - 68. New Destination

Armaros and Fanah spent the next two days resting and gathering their things, and made sure that they didn't do anything big or eye catching, and the knights had also left the place after they were unable to find the Divine weapon. While Fanah was curious to know how Armaros had managed to hide the existence of the divine weapon from the knights, she didn't voice it out as she knew he wouldn't reveal it to her.

Not that she faults him for that as it is logical to keep such a technique a secret to make sure that they aren't discovered to make sure that they protected and his secret is not found out.

They gathered funds and made sure that they have enough and made the preparations for going towards their next destination, which was the place where the legend of the dragon treasure is located in.

Of course, they had told those who had inquired about their next destination honestly, and many were befuddled by the choice as adventurers don't go there since it had been proven that there isn't anything there.

In response, they had told them that they just wanted to take a look at the place since the place was on their way to another city, which satisfied them as they left them alone. And so, after taking care of their affairs in the place, gathered money and checked themselves for all their things, the two left the town towards the mountainous area of the legendary treasure.

They took a ride on a carriage with a merchant who was going on a road near the mountain where they were ready to go. They grant the merchant protection for the help alongside the two other adventurers who were on the way. And so he and Fanah were relaxing alongside the two adventurers. They didn't talk much and they didn't want to, and luckily for the two of them they didn't want to do the same and so it was peaceful.

To his surprise, there weren't any sort of problems or altercations on the trip there, but he didn't let down his heard even for a moment. In fact, it only served to make him even more guarded as he felt that the peace won't last for much longer due to how things are with him. It felt like this peace was the calm of the storm that would come to uproot his safety and put him in danger again.

And so he was coiled and ready to fight in case of any sigh of danger, though he did realise that Fanah wasn't as cautious as he was as she was more relaxed that he is. He also looked at the blood red cape that is being used to hide her absence of a left arm. It not only makes her look better but also hides her disability, which can help her in fights if she uses it correctly.

Of course, when he had brought it up with her, she wasn't receptive to the idea, which didn't surprise him since she was a former knight and as such had some of her knightly pride and honour. After all, this was a form of deception and it would be against the knightly code that she followed and believed in, especially since her faith in her God is still going strong in her.

But he had made sure to make her realise the advantages of the deception, as it would be an advantage for her which would be useful for their future travels and had also scolded her for her honour and told her how crooks and monsters won't care about honour and they will kill her.

She had been reluctant in the idea about it, but he made sure to hammer it into her by literally beating her down. And this time he made sure to use her disability to his advantage, something that he hadn't done before as he also felt considerate towards her circumstances.

He didn't give her the same consideration and care and took full use of her disability to defeat her, as he wanted her to realise her weakness and show her that there were many ways in which she could've been defeated by him and many others due to her lack of an arm.

And so when she lay on the ground, battered and hurt from the vicious but non lethals attacks from him, she was forced to acknowledge her own shortcomings due to her disability and begrudgingly decided to use the cape.

She never admitted to her master that she liked the way she looked, and it also kind of pleased her, but she still felt like she was not supposed to do that, her upbringing and belief as a knight didn't agree to it. Unlike with the Sentinels, there wasn't much of a need for her to keep her disability hidden, only to give herself and advantage. She would've been fine with others knowing about her disability as she would be fighting with truth and honesty.

But she also understood her master's point, and she knew that her master didn't care much for honor or anything like that. If that gave him an advantage in battle then he will make sure that it stayed as a secret so that he will be able to use the advantage for any future fights.

But she didn't voice it out as she stayed silent and decided to just enjoy the ride as it gave her time to relax before she got into any sort of trouble. And so the time passed in silence as they enjoyed the ride as the hours passed as she mulled over all that she has experienced ever since she had been bought by her master Agares.

She had never expected that she would ever be in a situation like this. Being betrayed by the organisation and the nobles she had served and protected, made into a gladiator, losing her left arm, turned into a slave, bought by a young man who wasn't even 20, and then fighting an Ogre and then seeing a divine weapon being absorbed by said master. And of course the Sentinels are also another matter as well.

And that's why she decided to enjoy the peace that she currently has before they start on their journey to their new destination. She had given him the legend about the treasure to divert his attention to there as it is a safe place, and would allow her to get some rest from fighting if they go inside there.

Of course, a part of her wondered if things would be different there since things have been hectic since she has been with him, but she decided to dismiss it for the moment and just focus on the relaxing time that she has as she kept her hand on her blade.

'I hope nothing bad happens when we get to the place.' Fanah thought to herself as she relaxed.

Armaros meanwhile felt a bit of a shiver as he felt like something bad had happened, and he looked around in confusion as he hoped that here wasn't any danger to them.

'What was that bad feeling?' Armaros thought to himself as he didn't like that feeling.

-Dawnbringer Clan-

Valeria and Fleur, and to an extent Solana had been trying to find some way to replace the warmth that they had not lost due to Armaros not being in the clan anymore. Anything that they got which was close to the warmth and kindness that they got was from his nanny Mary.

But that didn't replace the bond and warmth that Armaros had with his little sisters and they still missed him. As the place had become even colder than it had used to be. It just made them more aware of the silence and coldness that was left in their place with his absence.

Valeria couldn't take it anymore, as she wanted to meet with her brother again. She had thought that she would get him back when they had gone to that village, only for him to be exiled from the clan, something that she didn't like at all. She hated the fact but she didn't say anything since she had been trained to not do so.

But she couldn't handle it for much longer, not hearing his voice, something that she has heard for most of her life, in the clans palace, new things more uncomfortable for her.

And so she went and talked to her fellow sisters, Fleur and Solana, she has managed to make them agree to her plan. And so they went to their mother's office together and knocked on the door politely.

"Come in." Aurelia's voice came from the door, cold and neutral like usual.

Solana opened the door since she was the oldest of the three as they walked inside and found their mother at her desk like usual as she is working. But they were unaware of the fact that she was trying to find their brother and had hit her efforts to ensure that they didn't know about it.

"Why did you come here?" Aurelia asked her daughters as she kept her face neutral

"Mother, we... We want to see big brother again." Valerie said to her mother as she wanted this the most.

The mother blinked at that but didn't show any outward reaction to their words as she fixed then with a stare, as she can't let them know that she is looking for their brother.

"And why do you want to do so?" Aurelia asked her children.

"We-We miss his presence mother. Could you bring him back?" Fleur asked her mother a bit meekly.

"Yes mother. We... miss him and he also has become more powerful than before. He can stay in the clan." Solana said to her mother with some hesitance.

The three sisters missed their brother and wanted him back and they hoped that their mother would agree to their request and do so. Aurelia looked at her daughters and kept silent, though a part of her was happy that they wanted him back, and were on the same wavelength regarding their brother like she is for her son.

But she also knew that she can't do that. If it was revealed to her daughter's that their brother had lost his divine power, she has no idea on how they would react to it. And considering how they have changed after his exile, she can't take the risk at the moment, especially since she was very angry when she realised it, and they were children so their reaction would be worse than her own.

"I will think about it." Aurelia said to her daughters with her usual voice to not tip them off.

"I-I see. Thank you mother." Valeria said with happiness as she bowed to her alongside her sisters.

It might not be much for those outside the clan, but the fact that Aurelia was considering it was itself a great thing for them, as that meant that she was thinking of accepting it. And so the sisters walked out of the office as it was something better than what they had thought they would get when they propositioned for it.

So with some hope in their hearts, the three sisters walked away from their mother's office. While Aurelia sat in her chair, now aware of the face that her daughter's might have been changed more that she had thought it to be, and she hoped that she would be able to find her son before this reaches a boiling point.
