The next morning, the sun had barely risen over the mountains when Caden, Zetch, Aletha, Bella, and Frost stood ready at the monastery's main entrance. Their bags were packed, their marks carefully hidden beneath their clothes. The entire monastery had gathered to bid them farewell.
The atmosphere was heavy with emotion. Frost had grown up here for over ten years. He had been a pillar of the place—a quiet but powerful protector. Many monks and mages had tears in their eyes.
Master Eldrin stepped forward, holding several small gifts: healing potions, protective crystals, and an ancient map of the kingdom.
"May the light guide you, my children. May your path be straight and your hearts united. Return to us victorious."
He clasped Frost's shoulder firmly, his eyes filled with pride and sorrow.
"You have always been like a son to me, Frost. Protect them… and protect yourself."
Frost bowed his head respectfully.
"I will never forget everything you've taught me, Master."
The farewells lingered. Monks shook hands with Caden and the others, wishing them luck. Some of the young female mages struggled to hold back their tears as they looked at Frost.
Just as the group was about to leave, a loud voice suddenly rang out:
"Wait!!!"
Everyone turned. Lyseria was running toward them, a travel bag slung over her shoulder, breathing heavily but with a determined look in her eyes.
A stunned silence fell over the crowd.
Master Eldrin frowned slightly.
"Lyseria… are you certain about this choice?"
The young mage with violet hair nodded firmly, though her voice trembled slightly with emotion.
"Yes, Master. I want to go with them."
Frost turned toward her, surprised.
"But why do you want to come with us? Besides…"
He stopped abruptly. His eyes drifted for a moment, as if caught in a vision. Then suddenly, he burst out laughing—a genuine, surprised laugh that left everyone bewildered. Lyseria blushed lightly, lowering her gaze.
Frost wiped a tear from the corner of his eye, trying to regain his composure.
"So that's it!!!" he said, still amused. "Alright… no problem. You can come, Lyseria."
Master Eldrin raised an eyebrow, curious.
"What is it?"
Frost gave a mysterious smile.
"Sorry, Master, it's personal. However… you'll find out one day."
Lyseria let out a joyful cry, nearly jumping in place before quickly joining the group.
At last, they set off. After a few steps, Frost stopped and turned back one final time toward the monastery. His gaze swept over the towers, the gardens, the familiar faces. A nostalgic, grateful smile formed on his lips.
Then he took a deep breath, turned around, and rejoined the others on the path, his black cloak flowing in the morning wind.
