Chapter 121 - The Phoenix Rises Pt. 1

The pulse of the mutation machine reverberated through the ground, a steady, menacing heartbeat that echoed across Liberty Island. The X-Men stood in formation, their eyes locked on Magneto, who hovered above the battlefield, surrounded by swirling metal.

The stakes had never been higher.

"This ends now. Tea time is starting soon, and I need my daily dose of Storm brooding silently while looking good doing it." Wanda said, stepping forward, her Chitauri Scepter glowing ominously in her grip, its alien energy blending with the crackle of Chaos Magic around her fingertips.

Magneto's lips curled into a smirk. "Yes. It does need to end, but so do your weird hobbies."

Before the X-Men could react, Toad leapt from the shadows, his grotesque tongue lashing out like a whip aimed straight at Cyclops.

Cyclops dodged, firing an optic blast that illuminated the night, but Toad twisted mid-air, narrowly avoiding the beam with a mocking grin.

"Come on, pretty boy!" Toad croaked, landing in a crouch. "Let's see what you've got!"

Storm raised her hands, lightning sparking between her fingers. "You really don't want to find out."

Toad lunged again, but Cyclops and Storm moved in perfect sync. Cyclops fired a controlled blast, forcing Toad into Storm's path, where she unleashed a bolt of lightning that sent him sprawling.

But Toad wasn't done. He somersaulted back to his feet, grabbing a metal pipe from the debris and swinging it toward Cyclops.

Cyclops reacted instantly, disintegrating the pipe mid-swing with a focused blast. But Toad's tongue shot out, wrapping around Cyclops's arm, yanking him forward.

Storm didn't hesitate. With a flick of her wrist, she sent a jolt of electricity down Toad's tongue.

Toad let out a strangled screech, convulsing as he released Cyclops and collapsed in a twitching heap.

"Disgusting," Storm muttered, shaking her hand. "I'm definitely burning this suit when we get home."

While Cyclops and Storm handled Toad, Wanda advanced on Magneto, her Chitauri Scepter thrumming with power.

"You could've stood with me, Wanda," Magneto said, his voice steady despite the chaos around them. "Together, we could have reshaped this world."

Wanda's eyes glowed crimson. "I'm reshaping it just fine on my own, thanks."

With a flick of her wrist, she sent a blast of Chaos Magic hurtling toward him. Magneto deflected it effortlessly, twisting the metal around him into an impenetrable shield.

But Wanda wasn't here to play games.

She charged forward, transforming the Scepter into a bat mid-air with her chaos energy. Magneto reached out, trying to seize control with his magnetic powers, but Wanda's Chaos Magic overpowered his grip, nullifying his control.

She closed the distance and whacked Magneto upside the head with the blunt end of the Scepter, the metallic clang reverberating across the battlefield.

Magneto staggered, his expression shifting from smug confidence to fury.

"You'll regret that," he growled, summoning a torrent of metal shards and hurling them at her.

Wanda spun the Scepter, deflecting the shards mid-air, her Chaos Magic crackling like wildfire.

She grinned. "You're welcome to try."

While Wanda battled Magneto, Natasha and Gwen moved like shadows in the chaos, their symbiote suits enhancing their agility and strength.

Gwen webbed a Brotherhood mutant, yanking him off his feet and slamming him into a concrete pillar.

"You'd think they'd learn by now," Gwen quipped, flipping gracefully out of the way of another attacker.

Natasha smirked, landing a brutal punch to an enemy's ribs. "But then, they wouldn't be much fun, would they?"

Meanwhile, Talia fought alongside Storm, her stun batons crackling as she took down enemy after enemy.

"You know," Talia grunted, blocking a blow and shocking her opponent into unconsciousness, "I really hope Fury is watching this."

Storm chuckled, sending a bolt of lightning into the fray. "Oh, I'm sure he'll give you a medal."

"I'd settle for alien tech Fury and Shield love to hoard the good stuff." Talia muttered, dodging another swing.

The three women moved in perfect harmony, their banter keeping them grounded amid the chaos.

As the battle raged, Jean felt the pull of power inside her growing stronger. Her hands trembled as she tried to focus, but the energy clawed at her mind, threatening to spill over.

Her gaze drifted to Crystal Frost—or rather, Mystique in disguise—who was edging dangerously close to the mutation machine.

Jean's brow furrowed. Something's wrong.

Reaching out with her mind, she tried to probe Crystal's thoughts, but hit a wall of resistance.

That's not normal, Jean thought, her suspicion solidifying into certainty.

But before she could act, an explosion rocked the ground beneath her, snapping her attention back to the fight.

From her position near the machine, Mystique smirked, activating a hidden mechanism that sent a pulse of energy through the island.

The X-Men staggered, caught off guard as the Brotherhood regrouped for a second assault.

Magneto's voice echoed across the battlefield, filled with venom. "Did you really think it would be that easy to stop me?"

But the X-Men were far from beaten.

Natasha and Gwen regrouped, their symbiote suits shimmering in the dim light as they launched themselves back into the fray.

Talia and Storm combined their powers in a devastating combo, lightning amplifying the shock from Talia's stun batons, sending Brotherhood mutants sprawling.

Meanwhile, Wanda continued to dominate the battlefield, her Chitauri Scepter a blur of motion as she switched between using it as a spear and a blunt weapon.

"You're strong, Maximoff," Magneto admitted, breathing heavily as he deflected another strike. "But not strong enough."

Wanda grinned, her eyes glowing brighter. "We'll see about that."

As the fight intensified, Jean felt the power inside her reach a breaking point. Her vision blurred, and for a brief moment, her eyes flashed with a fiery glow.

The ground trembled beneath her feet as her telekinetic abilities spiraled out of control.

Wanda noticed immediately, her attention flickering between Magneto and Jean.

"Jean, stay with me!" Wanda shouted, her voice cutting through the chaos.

Jean clenched her fists, trying to rein in the power, but it was like trying to hold back a flood with a paper dam.

As the X-Men regrouped, Magneto made his final move.

The mutation machine pulsed, its energy reaching critical mass.

Wanda turned to Jean, her expression fierce. "We end this. Now."

Jean nodded, but as they moved to strike, the ground split open beneath them, and the Brotherhood surged forward for one last stand in an effort to block the X-Men and Wanda from stopping the activation of the mutation machine.
